I like VL over Central. Not only do the bears lack overall talent and depth it sounds like the wheels are coming off the bus. Lots of finger pointing by players, asst coaches, and dads that are too close to the program. 
 

Please let Memorial draw Central week 10.  

Central has a really good shot at a winless season.

Im not sure any week is a must win except week 10. Obviously teams want to win. Its the only way to win a conference championship and it makes for a better week of practice. IMO It’s a must be better upfront with experience OL and it’s a must be better offensively and it’s a must be better at stopping the run. But I trust this staff will have Memorial as the 4A sectional favorite by week 10. 

IB this Memorial team better quit reading the paper and listening to outsiders tell them how good they are. They have all the pieces but looked like they thought it was just show up and we win. Not how it works fellas. Attention to detail was lacking on both sides of the ball. Nice thing is it’s only week 1.  My biggest concern watching last night …….zero leadership on the field.

Lauck kid is a stud. Big offers from FBS. Grandfather played on a National Championship team at ND. 

Central always has athletic RBs. Their QB is a nice 3 sport athlete. They have kids on the outside who can flat out run. Normally tough hard nosed kids at LB. I think there are 4 maybe 5 teams that could be anywhere from 5-4 to 7-2.  Central is in that group. JMO. 

Looking to Friday night lights. Great time of the year.  Good matchups right out of the gate.

on a side note it’s remarkable John Hurley has guided his teams to 5 state championship games in just 13 years. He is the 🐐 of SW football coaches. 

Central and North both dominated their scrimmages. I know coaches all have different approaches to how many reps key guys get but at the end of the night Central and North spent a lot of time in the end zones.

Castle has hard time winning 4 regular season siac games most years.

Castle doesn’t play GS. I think this is more about parents looking for something different. JMO. I’d bet the bank not one of these kids suggested to their parents to send them to GS. I think both looking for a chance to play at LOS. JMO. Or maybe GS is trying to out recruit Memorial.

I’m guessing tiger fan 20 is meaning built like or as tough as Grant Gribbons. With all do respect Ellspermann is nowhere near the football player Gribbons was. Not close or I’d say 4A state rep from the south will be the 14-0 tigers.  Lol!

it’s still a very tough sectional with 3 other teams receiving votes. 

You will never hear that from this football fan. 32 is never easy and then the regional is tough hard nosed football. 
 

IB this year the Titans enjoy turkey day in Indy.

I’m guessing the 2019 Memorial team had average offensive numbers. The last two teams have played outstanding team defense and limited turnovers.  Win field position and let the D work. Obviously the Combs kid could take over a game in 2019.

QB play is so important at all levels and last year Memorial had a QB that did not make mistakes (17TDs/2 INTs) and completed 60% of his passes.

I have been looking at their stats on Maxpreps and for the life of me, I can't make heads or tails of them.    Maybe this is a case where the stats don't show what they have coming back.

They only rushed for 93 yards per game and that includes the Reitz game where they rushed for 269 yards (1/4 of their season total).   EM was not really throwing like crazy (Pence was 68th in the state with 149 passing yards/game).

Not trying to slam anyone here, I am just a stat nerd trying to understand.

 

 

 

Very very young last year with lots of new faces and limited practice to work Hurley’s no huddle offense. Very sound defensively.

but to be very clear….I don’t want the narrative to be that “they only made it because memorial and chatard were in 4A”…if it does happen.  I think GS has shown they are more than capable of doing it with them in 3A and if they were to make a run this year, I would think they would be good enough that people don’t put an asterisk next to any of their accomplishments 

Not sure any team should ever get an asterisk. Winning is winning no matter who’s in front of you. Its high school sports with 16 to 18 year old kids. Navigating a tournament is never easy. It’s obviously a little sweeter when you take out teams like GS, HH EM, or even Chatard along the way but nothing can take away from a teams accomplishments. I’d be shocked if BA didn’t add some team hardware to is resume this fall.

4A is no joke. Don’t sleep on #10 Memorial. If QB play is good I think this could be coach Hurley’s best overall team. Memorial has proven to be the most dangerous tournament team consistently in SW Indiana under the current coaching staff. Not sure anyone will have an answer for Roncalli and Chatard. 

Is this the year the stars align for GS? No Chatard No Memorial. Brady Allen’s senior year, 5 year tournament drought, and BA trying to notch his 1st sectional title? They have the horses to get it done. I expect too see maroon and yellow at Lucas representing the south.

I just think across the board they could be as talented as any team that wore the blue and white. May not have the Hart, Combs, Jones, Lindauer or Maquire type but from top to bottom this team has dudes all over.  

Could be the best team Hurley has put on the field as a head coach. QB play won’t be an issue. Rupp and Hurley know how to coach QBs and coach to their strengths. This could be one of the few Memorial teams that run more than they throw. Russell and Tyler is a nasty 1 - 2 punch. Defense will be fast and physical.
