Will the Spoilermakers come trough tonight?  Anything's possible.

Look good so far (up 10-7 early 2nd qtr).

after the 3 and out to start the game, Michigan coming right down the field to go up 7-0, since Purdue has played really good on both sides of the ball. Lot of football to go

Buchner will be the QB in the Bowl Game for the Irish if healthy.  Pyne, of course, won't play.

It was a very up and down year for Pyne.  He looked overmatched quite a lot during the season.  No way he would have been the starter this year had Buchner not gotten injured.  And he wasn't going to be the Irish QB of the future.  It's good for him to move on.

Agree. He will have 3 years of eligibility left and he will most likely get passed by incoming freshman qb Kenny Minchey and I’m sure a transfer quarterback, and then CJ Carr comes in the following year. Pyne statistically  had a nice season but if you watched all of the games he could be frustrating to watch at times (missing some easy throws, open targets down field).

Because an unranked team with home losses to Marshall and Stanford isn’t going to jump all the way up to #12. Just not how the AP poll works this late in the season.

In regards to Clemson, this type of loss has been building all year. They’ve been rather unimpressive all year and their initial #4 ranking in the CFP was on name brand alone. Offense is a mess and they’re getting average QB play at best. They severely lack playmakers out on the perimeter.

I'm shocked by how much QB DJ Uiagalelei has regressed. He played so well for an injured Trevor Lawrence back in 2020 but he has not been good since that game it seems. I was also surprised by how little he ran the ball against ND. Not sure if he's hurt or dealing with an injury that prevents him from running. I would agree that Clemson wasn't the #4 team, but they have an awful lot of talent and you can't take away what the Irish were able to do (which makes it more maddening they couldn't so this vs Stanford).

  4. Will this be Sniders first trip to Mishawaka? When they played back to back years couple years back they were both in Fort Wayne.

Snider in a game that could go either way, I think the panthers get enough stops on defense to win in the 4th quarter

New Prairie since they’re clicking on all cylinders

West Side in a battle of two completely different styles of offense

North Judson, but I don’t know Park Tudor except they used to be really good in tennis

Kelly is a phenomenal coach, in OT with Bama currently. He’ll win a national title there.

Anyone catch that the two point play BK used vs FSU back in 2014? No pick called last night in Death Valley

  6. First time all season the Irish played 4 quarters of football. Al Golden and Tommy Rees deserve a ton of credit; but the offensive line and the tackling by the defense really stood out to me. I can’t believe how dominant they were for the entire game. I did not see that coming.
now which team will show up to play navy and BC before playing USC? Be quite an accomplishment to get to 10 wins after the start of the season.

So many mistakes and to be tied at the half is not what anyone expected in this one.

Really hoping Mike Hart is ok....great dude and great coach as well.

Scary, I didn’t see it but heard about MH collapsing on the sideline. Was he ran into or did he just collapse? Hope he’s ok.

You should be thrilled with that based on what I’ve seen.

If they finish 8-4, IMO that means they have a really, really good young head coach in Marcus Freeman. I still need to see them play to have a better gauge of what they can be this season. Of the 3 game sample size, the offense has been atrocious, the defense has played well at times but has really disappointed in the 2nd half of every game and is lacking turnovers, and the special teams have been.....ok? Again, I need to see more (or do I? haha) Here's the rest of the schedule

UNC, BYE, BYU, Stanford, UNLV, Syracuse, Clemson, Navy, Boston College, U$C

I think they.....?, -, L, W, W, ?, L, W, ?, L.. If they can beat UNC, Syracuse, BC and then pull an upset they can get to 8. At this point I just don't have the confidence they can do it. Hope I'm wrong!!!

Someone with more inside knowledge than me help me out here…

How is a team with 3-4 first round draft picks and talent galore all over the field currently in a dogfight with the preseason #10 Pac 12 team on its home field?

Other than Kelly and Elston was there anymore staff turnover?

If not, there is one common denominator and folks probably don’t want to hear it

You talking Rees? Too of my head Rees, Mickens (db coach), and Freeman are only holdovers from last years staff. Sad state of affairs I’m hoping they can finish off this game vs Cal. Cal.

  10. Todays Cal game will tell us more about MF as a head coach. If they come out flat again and play like last weekend, which I don’t think will happen, it could be a one and done. I’m trying to be positive and believe he’ll learn from his mistakes but there’s a lot of question marks two games into his tenure

BK: The guy wins. I remember when he came to ND a buddy of mine who hates ND saw BK speak at a coaching clinic (while he was at CMU) and said you got a really good coach. From where ND was when he got there to where he left them is really impressive. At this stage of his career, and after 2 necessary makeovers at ND, does he have the energy to bring back LSU and compete weekly in the SEC? Time will tell but if you go by his track record he will have success. The way he left ND will always have a bitter taste in my mouth. As the all time winningest coach in school history, I felt he owed a little more to his players and school. BK will always be about BK first and foremost.

A top 10 program hanging their hat on keeping a regular season game close. There’s an oxymoron if I’ve ever seen one.

You do realize this irrelevant program you speak of still plays Clemson, BYU, and “Rice” beaters USC so, and I don’t want to speak out of turn here, I don’t think they’re hanging their hats on losing game one (in close fashion) on the road to the “#2” team in the country.  Again, irreverent.

They absolutely were, and then just decided they didn’t care any more. I don’t understand that. But hey I guess an 11 point loss at Ohio State is much better on the resume than an 18 or even 25 point loss had they actually played aggressive and to win. Tells you where ND is at as a program.

Yes a top 10 program year in and year out.

Yeah, that’s why I’m angry lol. Must suck to know that both your high school and college teams are both has beens and no longer relevant.

Yep very irrelevant, which is why you’re posting on a message board board about the head coach waving the white flag and not trying to score twice in the final minutes of a game most everyone knew they weren’t going to win. Very irrelevant.

  14. ND did about everything they needed to do to win last night to win (not turn the ball over, keep OSU offense off of the field) but it still shows that ND is lacking with elite players on offense especially at wide receiver. Missing Jarett Patterson on the interior showed last night. Defense showed they can play with about anyone but the offense didn’t help them in the 2nd half. The Irish need to get better at making adjustments (and maybe not calling a safety blitz on 3rd and long vs a good qb???) because that’s two games in the row they’ve been unable to finish all 4 quarters and have faded in the second half. Hopefully they improve every week and head into Clemson game with one loss.

As someone who was rooting for a meteor last night and who also understands Notre Dame doesn’t pride itself on moral victories, I thought the Irish’s game plan was nearly flawless and their effort was admirable.

D was too gassed in the second half because the offense couldn’t stay on the field.

Irish are still a 10/11 win team.

    That made me laugh

    Combo

    1) Penn’s front 7/8 all return plus you add a transfer dt.  They are one of the best run defenses in the state.  Not a great formula for valpo.

    2) putting that jojo Williams kid on offense is going to be one of the best coaching moves of the year.  Elite athlete that changes their dynamic.

    3) Penn is always great on special teams and when you get a punt block early that makes a huge difference.

    on the other side

    1) valpo is young (at least when it comes to # of returners) and playing at Penn is an intimidating place for teams from the North.  2) It doesn’t help to start with a busted play td and blocked punt.

Especially on a night when they’re honoring Chris Geesman!!

    Two ND updates:

WR1:  done for the year (ACL)

”The chosen one” given the keys.

Too bad on Avery Davis, think this was his 6th year after tearing his other ACL last year. Leaves the Irish with 4 scholarship WR, that can't be good.

Also heard the Irish practiced at SB St. Joe HS last week and may practice at Penn HS as well as some other local high schools in the future. Marcus Freeman doing his best Hoosiers impersonation and trying to stress that the playing field is the same no matter what stadium you're playing inside of. Hopefully he has an ace up his sleeve to help them prepare for the 100k + fans who will be in attendance in Columbus.
