Was there another really good Warsaw kicker a couple of years ago too or is this the same kid? Thought he went to Missouri maybe?

I just leaned to read and saw the younger brother kicks at Missouri. So i wasn’t crazy just need to work on my reading stamina haha

Added this in another thread, but for the NLCers

Andrew Mevis (K): Undrafted Free Agent: Jacksonville Jaguars via Iowa State and Fordham and Warsaw Community High School

Mevis finished his only season in Ames (as a graduate transfer from Fordham) 20-of-23 on field goals, including 2-for-2 on kicks of 50+ yards, and was perfect on PATs. Mevis was arguably the best kicker in the entire draft, and will presumably have a shot at taking the starting job since the Jaguars released longtime kicker Josh Lambo midway through the 2021 season.

His younger brother Harrison is the kicker at Missouri and will likely be a front-runner for the Groza award this season.

Both.  Recruited by Rich Rod, finished with Hoke.

Had no business winning that game in 2011.

One of my top 5 favorite plays in Michigan history here though…

He was soooo fast. Not one navy jersey was near him once he decided to go “you cannot simulate speed” says the announcer at the end. He ain’t lying

I agree.  I think Moore leaves the Midwest based on the tea leaves.

Unrelated but Michigan made the top two for this freak of an athlete…

    Sub 10.3 electronic 100 meter dash at 6-5, 225…

Has Michigan ties too as his track coach is a UM alum.

Gotta beat out Lincoln Riley though.

    That’s quite the offer list

  4. Liked first two picks. Secondary needs some help. Eddie Jackson resembling anything like his rookie year would also be helpful. The wide receiver ran 4.31 at the combine so we’ll see how that translates to the field. And they’ve swapped draft picks a few time here on day 3. Stock piling late draft picks it seems

The Davie, Willingham, Weiss era's don't count.

In other news: Peyton and Eli were on campus yesterday discussing Arch's future with Freeman. Two five star quarterbacks in the class of 2023?

I’d say 0.05% chance arch manning goes to ND. Dante Moore taking his official visits gives me pause on him being a done deal for the Irish. Been to LSU and heading to Oregon next I think.

would love to see a Peyton and Eli piece on notre dame football

Rich Rod was 2-1 against ND and Hoke was 2-2…(actually 2-1 or 2-1-1 if you count ND’s vacated season), lol.

Still have nightmares of ole shoe lace having his way. Which coach did he play for?

Funny I was thinking about Davie, Willingham and Weis too but then I realized they had Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke so I figured I'd shy away and focus on the 2022 season hahaha

ND didn't have another QB that could take valuable reps on one of the other teams?  Does not sound good.  Wonder what the spin job will be coming from South Bend.....

True frosh Steve Angeli and soph Ron Powlus III took snaps but neither are ready to be a starter altho angelli did run in the game winning touchdown. First half was mostly DP and I’m sure he was tired

  9. Watched the Blue-Gold game yesterday and I know it’s hard to gauge from a scrimmage but the offense looked bad. No Tyler Buchnar meant Drew Pyne starting for both squads and he looked bad. In his defense he got no rest in between series and the wr core is limited by both scholarship players and experience but DP did not take advantage of this opportunity. (And he also physically did not look good with the half cut jersey showing of his stomach 😳 ). Maybe the defense is just that good (hey they did tackle) but don’t think there’s much doubt the Irish need help from that portal at wide receiver and perhaps quarterback.

    So I’ve heard.

No ranking but a few that come to mind:

Script Ohio (actually was first performed by the the UM band, lol)

    Jump Around

    Traveler

    Enter Sandman

    The Children’s Hospital Wave

    The Go Blue Banner

    Howard’s Rock

    Toomer’s Corner

    Chief Osceola

    Ralphie

    The Sooner Schooner

Surely I’m missing a few.  What separates college football from any other sport in my opinion.

Where and what is traveler? Don’t know that one by name.

Beautiful day outside today so I’ll play nice.

Notre Dame DOES boast the second best fight song in the land and their uniforms are top 10.

The recent change in gold keeps them out of my top 5.

I’m biased but they’re be in my top 5. No order but I’d say ND, hate to admit but USC and Michigan, BYU, and I always liked Colorado with the black pants white jerseys and gold helmets.
Don’t know a ton of fight songs but I do like Tennessee and Wake Forest.

  12. Marcus Freeman doing something Brian Kelly had no interest in doing or maybe wasn’t allowed to do; connecting with the former players. I’ve read there’s up to 300 former Irish players going to the spring game tomorrow. Pretty cool to have that kind of a turnout If true. A bummer that Buchnar isn’t playing tomorrow, maybe this opens the door for Ron Powlus III

From the looks of it, “the chosen one” needs to hit the stair stepper in the weight room before being handed the keys to being QB1.

Would have been nice if they could have scheduled Colorado St, Hawaii, or even Tennessee St before playing in the horse shoe. Maybe the lack of "game" tape will help the Irish and TB (very wishful thinking) in week 1.

Caesars has released some early season betting lines…

    OSU -13.5 vs ND

My hope (and perhaps ND's hope as well) is that the Irish can run the ball and keep OSU off of the field. I think with Harry Hiestand back as the OL coach ND is going to try and wear teams down this year. The OL, RB, and TE will be the strength of the offense and will be featured. But as a lifelong ND fan, I've hoped for this before and then ND can't run the ball or stop big plays from the other team and they get down 21-3 in the 2nd quarte. IMO it will be helpful that this is Ohio State's first game too so they may be working on some things defensively as well.

Also, Tyler Buchnar will miss the spring game this weekend for ND. Hurt his ankle, not in practice but at the practice facility walking down the stairs and missing the last one. Hope those stairs are more physical than OSU's defense!!

How long ago was this? I only ask because for the years Elkhart Memorial was a school, Warsaw never participated in a jamboree with them to my knowledge. In the 90s and through the 00s, Warsaw would scrimmage against SB Clay. Then I think that switched to Tippecanoe Valley for a few years and now they scrimmage Leo. I personally do not ever remember the Tigers being in a Jamboree with those teams you mentioned, but my memory is really only good from 1995 onward.

Also - not saying it didn't happen. I think it's awesome if it did! Definitely would have been fun to go to with those 6 schools.

That was the lineup when I was in hs (graduated in 96). I’m not sure how many years those were the 6 teams but this would have been like 92, 93, 94, 95 and possibly 96 or until jamborees stopped

Honestly? I know a lot of Notre Dame fans and none of them ever bring up the Michigan game. The Irish program is too busy focusing on retaining their #1 ranked 2023 recruiting class and getting back the playoffs. I can assure you they've moved on from what happened in Ann Arbor.

    Haters are gonna hate.

As the 23 class goes (Dante or bust), I’d be shocked if they finish #1. A top 3 finish is a better expectation IMO

I was talking about a Michigan fan referring to that game to get the “last” word in. No reason for any ND fan but to think about that game let alone mention it

  18. And I personally do not like the scheduling of Tennessee St but I get that's where major college football is heading. As long as they beat TS by 50 and also can beat Clemson, Ohio St and USC I won't complain haha. So in 2023 they'll open up with Navy (in Ireland), Tennessee St, and Central Michigan before hosting Ohio St at home.

  19. 16 hours ago, temptation said:

Nah, I agreed with your sentiments but the REASON for them doing it is blatantly obvious.

As for App State, they were THE FCS school at the time coming off a national title.  Tennessee State is a completely different story.

    But you already knew that.

(Imagine attempting to throw shade by dropping a joke from a decade and a half ago to make yourself feel better.)

45-14 in the rain must still hurt.

Unfortunately that's all you need to shut us ND fans up
