I was referring to "chosen ones" on a national scale. Not just Notre Dame.

I wouldn't take any of those guys on that list over Buchner. But I think Pyne is pretty darn good though. It'll be interesting to see how they both do during the Blue and Gold game. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Both quarterbacks are capable of leading the Irish back the playoffs. Right now I'm 55/45 in favor of Buchner.

I think both will play this year, neither are very big and at some point they’ll probably miss time so the other will have to be ready to step in.  Could be as early as week 1. Will they look to transfer portal for a back up for added depth? Sounds like TB has been pretty accurate throwing the ball this spring. I agree that DP should have gotten more of a look in a few games last year but he must not practice well? They’ll utilize all their running backs in blue-gold game since there are only 5 scholarship receivers in spring practice.

There's been many "chosen ones" over the years, and they only seem to pan out 50% of the time. I like better odds than that so I won't take that bet. Do I think Tyler B. has heisman qualities? Yep, but I'll take a pass on the title "chosen one." I'm just thrilled that ND has two quarterbacks on their roster cable of leading the Irish to the playoffs. Kelly put too much stock in Coan last year and not enough on Pyne. In fact, Pyne got screwed after bailing ND out against Wisconsin. "Thanks, but my commitment is to my transfer, go sit over there on the bench for the rest of the season." And for neither one of them to play against Oklahoma State was just utterly disturbing. I like Freeman, but damn! Playing Coan from beginning to end didn't work all season, not sure why Freeman thought it would work against OSU.

Out of curiosity who are the many “chosen ones” you speak of? Not arguing just want your take.
The only “chosen one” that I can think of in recent memory (does 2007 even count?) was jimmy Clausen who showed up in the limo wearing his state championship rings. I would say he was not a miss but obviously couldn’t take them to a national title.
In fairness to the quarterbacks it’s also important to point out during the end of Weis and a majority of BK era they were way more than a great quarterback away from competing for a championship. Now it seems that overall roster talent is the best it’s been since maybe the holtz regime? Here are the quarterbacks I can think of since jimmy Clausen. Dayne Christ, Gunnar Kiel, Malik Zaire, DeShone Kizer, Everett Golson, Tommy Rees, Phil Jurcovic, Brandon Winbush, Brendan Clark, Drew Pyne. How many of these guys would you take over Tyler Buchnar? Probably way too early to tell what TB will end up but if they can somehow land Dante Moore he will be IMO the “chosen one” over anyone on my list including Jimmy C or Tyler Buchnar. Let’s see how the season plays out with TB running the show and see how Moores recruitment plays out  and if either or somebody else can get them to a title

Which solidifies my point that Tyler B. is not "the chosen one".

Honest question but besides our favorite referee who else has proclaimed Tyler Buchnar as the chosen one?

Kid says he’s in no rush.  Wish he’d stay in state but looks like an uphill climb for my Wolverines.

Most think it’s ND vs the SEC.

ND has been all in on this to the point that if he goes elsewhere I’m not sure what the Irish do. He’s been to south bend a few times, recently for a 2 day visit. Rumor was he could be announcing soon and shut it all down but after his visit to ND he said he’ll schedule his official visits. Which means LSU, Ole Miss, Michigan and others will get a chance to wine dine and NIL the young man to come to school there

Arians moves to the front office and Bowles is the new Head Coach

Will Brady start second guessing himself?

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33632978/bruce-arians-retiring-coach-tampa-bay-buccaneers-move-front-office-role

From what I gather TB and BL on same page as far as game planning on then on Friday’s BA would come in and try to alter their game plan. I think BA going to front office makes a happier TB and he also gets to keep his offensive coordinator. So kind of win-win for Tom Brady

  6. I'll be anxious to see if some of the schools up here in NW IN will start up 8 man football teams. Up here the schools that don't play football offer boys volleyball in the fall. I just wonder if the smaller schools will have the numbers to have both 8 man football and soccer/cross country/boys vb or 8 man football and track/baseball. I know some of the smaller schools (Kouts, Hebron) share athletes in some sports

What are common days for Jr High, Freshman, C-team/JV games? I remember Monday for JV, Tuesdays for Jr High, Thursday for Frosh, and obviously Friday for Varsity. If thats common still then Wednesday or Thursday could work well.

Seems like Saturday mornings have replaced Monday JV games for a lot of school here in the north.

  7. Mishawaka’s own Justin fisher has signed or will attend Notre Dame as a preferred walk on. Assuming he takes on the role as navy scout team quarterback or maybe they move him to running back. Congrats to Justin!

In other news today I saw returning starting center Jarrett Patterson tore his pectoral muscle in the weight room. That would be a big blow to the offensive line if he misses a few games to start the season.

The potential ramifications of this are very interesting to me.

    1. Can Kennedy build the Kougars into a legitimate threat in the 4A North?
    2. Will the Lowell faithfull turn on Kilmer if their neighbors to the southeast surpass Lowel in 4A North hierarchy?

I'm not familiar with South Lake County and Northern Jasper County. I know Lowell has had some really good individual talent lately, but is there an overwhelming difference between the talent available in these neighboring school districts?

Am I wrong here or was KK's former DC at Lowell a head coach at KV for a season or two?

How do they get away with that (not providing busses)?

Been that way since….. well I think always. Mishawaka and Speedway used to be the only schools without a school bus system. In Mishawaka there is a city bus service, Transpo, that kids could take but have to pay. No idea why it’s been this way but I know this guy walked to school 97% of the time from K-12, but luckily I was within walking distance. Has to be a pain for kids and parents who live further away.

  10. No expansion for the college football playoffs, going to stay with 4 teams until 2026. I’m ok with this, I’m anxious to see how the next couple of seasons play out and if there are more than 4 teams worthy of being in the playoffs.

16 if you count Manti Teo’s girlfriend.

Her performance on the phone could never match her performance on the field.
I’ve heard chatter that Ricky Watters should be a HOFer but I’d have to look at his numbers and compare. My guess is Zach Martin is next in line when he’s done. But with the door easier to get into I wouldn’t be surprised if Harrison smith ends up in the hall too.  Just my thoughts.

Can't say I'm surprised as he's already accustomed to transferring schools, but that was fast! Was he buried on the ND depth chart?

Read that he was asked not to come back to the team, this was a disciplinary decision. I'll try and see if I can find that post

You try so hard Bobby.  I’ll give you that.

Harbaugh is a top ten coach in the college game…and you have Marcus Freeman.

IMO you can’t compare Marcus Freeman to Jim Harbaugh. One is a boarder line HOF coach and the other has coached 1 game. ND had a top 10 college coach and he couldn’t get them to that next tier to what they aspire to be, and I think they needed a new voice.

  14. What's sad, as a Bears fan, is that you guys are debating who should be on the Mt. Rushmore, and none of those guys have played for the Bears in 50 years. I'd like to know if any other fan base has guys on their Rushmore who haven't played in as long????
