  1. My Highlanders are getting some good pub this off-season. Can’t wait till August.

@FloydCentralFB has some talent on their roster.
Graduated some really good players headed to play in college. In their 2021 class, they have some kids with
offers & more on the way. QBPolk & RB Wright were impressive at @INShowcase1.
OL Michalski is a prospect. #INPreps

Seymour, East, BNL, JC, Madison would have been gone six years ago if they could have found a sixth. One of the main components of Seymour leaving the conference is no longer a factor. I don't think the athletic administration ever had any serious interest in leaving anyway.

The problem is not what most think, it's not really a competitive balance issue, the river schools are notoriously bad travelers, except when they have a decent basketball team.

And before everyone starts in on SC or Charlestown, SC was approached six years ago and had no interest. I realize a new AD, but I don't see any reason for them to leave their situation. My guess is in the short term the HHC will continue on as a seven school conference, Bloomington North is a possible replacement, but those Tuesday night trips from the river to the north side of Bloomington are going to be a killer.

In Madison's situation I think leaving the conference with no exit strategy is a bad idea. The idea of being an independent in football is a recipe for a lot of travel and worse ass whoopins.

I think in strictly football terms, Madison leaving is a plus for the HHC schools, it gives them another non-conference game and allows teams to get a quality opponent or a win, which ever their situation dictates.

Floyd Central fans travel well, everywhere. For any sport.

Well as far as I know you lost Willman during the season. You lost Farley. You lost Deweese during the game. I thought there was someone else. Wyatt I believe was out. And I thought his replacement was out too. I may have been mistaken.

Im actually insulted that you care more about the validity of the players being out, then myself being very complimentary of your staff and your team for a tremendous season and overcoming a lot of injuries. You guys did a hell of a job.

Actually, suprised, not insulted. And I meant to say Hyatt, not Wyatt.

What two OL were we missing?  And what 4 DBs/WRs were we without?

Wenkers and Polk should be a tough combination as seniors next season . South loses a lot to graduation this year. Next year may be a rebuilding year at south ll of thier running backs are seniors wide recievers are seniors and some of those big guys in the trenches are seniors as well.

Our injuries were too much to overcome. I was proud of this team because we had already lost 3 starting DBs/WRs and lost a 4th in the 1st half of the game. We had 2 OL out. Our RB playing injured. We had a lot of other injuries  this season and guys that have come back. For this team to go 9-3 and win a Sectional and play a team like Bloomington South, I’m pretty proud of their team efforts.

Good first half by the Highlanders.  Good  game plan had south guessing ! At times I felt like neither team wanted to win and play new pal next week I felt that way about south in the first half then felt that way about fc in the second half.

I just think the better team won. Had Floyd Central won, it would have been an upset. South is much deserving of this win and I hope they can give something to New Pal. I know that’s a scary team right now.

  7. Bloomington South 40

    Floyd Central 14

    Final

Competitive game for 1 half. FC outscored 27-0 in the 2nd half. Wenkers Wright tried to play on a bad ankle but he just wasn’t himself and that was costly. South was clearly the better team though and I tip my hat to them and wish them luck next week. FC had a great season finishing 9-3 and return several starters for next season. That’s it for the HHC. Better luck next season.

Coach Bragg is doing a nice job building his program. The foundation looks to be solid and the future is bright.

The community loves him. He’s a keeper.

Congrats to both teams on making it this far. Safe travels to floyd and their fanbase.  Looking forward to see how this one  plays out.

Appreciate your kind words. You’re class, as is BSHS.

    Week 13 Prediction

Floyd Central (9-2) at Bloomington South (7-4): The Highlanders look to win their first ever regional championship while the Panthers look to win their first since 2016 (and 11th overall). Bloomington South struggles to play to its full potential at times despite its amount of talent and legendary head coach. However, I don't think they have much to worry about in this one. Their big defensive line will make it hard for Floyd Central to move the ball while their offensive line will allow for Maveric Thiery to break some big runs for long touchdowns. The season ends for the HHC as Bloomington South wins by at least three touchdowns.

It would take a Herculean effort from Wenkers Wright to give us a chance. With his injury last week, I’m not sure how that’s going to play out. It’s been a solid season for the Highlander’s though, who will return most of its core, including Wenkers Wright and QB Tristan Polk, next season, so I expect them to have a chance at a Regional next year as well.

Well i have not heard much from the bhss camp this week. Not much either from floyd. Here are the possible semi-state pairings for next week 11/22

'If' Bloomington South were to win they would be on the road for semi=state regardless of the winner of the other regional. Only one scenario would have either of these two teams being at home and that is np at fc.

    New Palestine  at Floyd Central

    'Bloomington South at Indianapolis Cathedral

    Bloomington South  at New Palestine

    Floyd Central at Indianapolis Cathedral

Although it would be lopsided, I would be stoked to see FC host a Semi-State game.

Pretty sure south and floyd played in a holiday tournament last year.  South has been playing castle at basketball as well in recent years. But I'm not trying to think about basketball season yet.  Mist of the attention is going toward the new goal cathedral game.  This matchup seems unimportant.  . . . . . . . Likely the winner here loses next week but there are still a lot of good players in this game so  im looking  forward  to seeing how this plays out. Souths rb just  broke the bhss career rushing and fc sounds like they have a good rb as well could be a high scoring game

Not a “good RB.” Hes a “great RB.” But we don’t know if he will be 100% yet. Floyd Central has one of the best trainers in the State and I’ll leave it at that.

The Castle coach was quoted as saying that South was too big and had too much speed for them and I'm paraphrasing on that. It's been awhile since South was described as too big since they usually have had undersized teams in recent seasons. With all due respect to Floyd Central, I think that South has played the better schedule up to this point. While CI is certainly no juggernaut of a conference, I think it is somewhat a step up from the HHC. Outside of Columbus East, their conference games have been exclusively against teams that have losing records.  Outside of TH South, all CI teams have had at least a .500 record. With that said, I hope South's team is not thinking like I am, and will be mentally ready for a team that comes in 9-2. When they build a record like that, they really have a lot of confidence in what they do. South is really rolling right now, and playing at home, I think they should win this game by at least two TDs. Maybe I shouldn't count my chickens before they are hatched, but that's how I see it.

We play in a weaker conference. East is very good though.  But we did hang with the #12 team in the nation for 1 half. I think South will win at home, but FC is deserving of their 9-2 record and S.C.

You can't throw it away in high school football, so any intentional throw out of bounds is grounding no matter where the ball is thrown from.

I did not know this. I can’t believe that’s actually a rule. I learn something new every day. Thanks for telling me.

    35 minutes ago, Bobref said:

Not exactly. It’s true the NCAA and NFL rule that allows you to throw the ball away when you’re outside the tackle box does not exist in high school. But intentional grounding occurs only when the pass is purposely incompleted to save loss of yardage or conserve time. If there’s no one open, and the QB just decides to give up on the play and just throw it away, it’s not a foul if he’s not under duress while doing so.

    He was under duress.

Columbus East was 0-10 in 1997 and 0-10 in 1998. A lot of teams beat up on CE those years lol.

I hadn’t remembered what their record was, but thanks. That makes more sense. Lol.

What were the calls that troubled you?  The one in the 1st quarter or coming out oh halftime?

I’ll give you an example. FCs QB scrambled outside the hashes and threw it out of bounds and got called for Intentional Grounding.

I also liked the 3rd and 20 play where Polk threw the ball deep and Jeff’s DB literally grabbed the back of the WRs jersey but no call.

I was able to be there for the previous two sectional titles. The one in 98 and 09. Unfortunately, I was under the weather and was unable to make it last night.

In the 1998 regional, they lost 22-12 to Indianapolis Cathedral. That was quite a game. Cathedral barely beat East Central in semi-state, then destroyed Concord for the state title.  In 09, they had to travel to Center Grove and did not fare well, losing 42-7. Center Grove lost in the semi-state to Warren Central.

BHSS will be quite the challenge next week, especially having to travel. Best of luck to the Highlanders.

The 98 team was probably the best FC has ever had. That team beat East like 44-6 or something ridiculous like that. Had they beaten Cathedral, it’s very possible that Floyd could have made it to State and possibly even won.
