He has done this every week. And his analysis is fair. It doesn't mean we guess them all right, but he calls it how he thinks it can play out. Then they play the games. There's no way to predict with certainty or we'd be rich from gambling. Nothing to be upset about there.

I’m talking about his analysis of Seymour. And tbh, I was only joking. I.O. Just likes to bust my balls.

    HHC Pick 'Em Standings

    Week 8 Predictions

Bedford North Lawrence (2-5, 2-2 HHC) at Floyd Central (5-2, 3-1 HHC): Second place in the HHC is still up for grabs. A win here would be huge for the Stars and would give them a leg up on all of the other 2-2 teams. However, the Highlanders have shown they have the right mix of talent and experience to rise above all of the HHC teams south of Bartholomew County. The injuries Floyd Central has suffered in recent weeks make the outcome a little cloudier than it should be. Nevertheless, I'll put all my chips on the talents of Wenkers Wright to shoulder the load and carry the team to victory. Floyd Central gets the win.

Columbus East (5-2, 4-0 HHC) at Seymour (4-3, 2-2 HHC): According to some writer with the Seymour Tribune, I should be concerned about a free-falling Owls team "steamrolling" my Olympians with their ground game. Apparently someone evaded a drug test before landing the job. Seems like the kind of journalist Bob Knight would've enjoyed taking questions from. But I digress. The Olympians are pretty banged up, although that's not an issue in conference play. Considering East has scored at least 42 points and has won by at least 26 points in the last 15 games against Seymour, I still fully expect them to "steamroll" Seymour.

Jennings County (3-4, 1-3 HHC) at Jeffersonville (2-5, 2-2 HHC): This could be the HHC game of the week. The Panthers' pass-heavy offense and porous defense could make this a shootout. The Red Devils will have the talent advantage in this one but will they play a clean, smart game? We shall find out. I'll favor talent and go with Jeff though.

New Albany (2-5, 1-3 HHC) at Madison (1-6, 1-3 HHC): The Bulldogs finally broke through last week and picked up their first HHC win of the season. I expect them to get two straight against a terrible Cubs team. Not much more to say about this one. The results speak for themselves. New Albany gets the W.

Be careful writing stuff like this Frozen. You’ll have someone extremely butt-hurt come here and criticize it. Lol. Nevertheless, pretty good analysis as usual.

    From the Seymour Tribune:

"Still, even without the passing game being on point, the Owls were able to punch their way back into last week’s game behind the legs of Colin Greathouse, Chandler Drummond and Smith.

Greathouse had a breakout game with 20 carries for 139 yards and two scores. Another effort like that coupled with an improved performance from Drummond and Smith on the ground and the Owls could steamroll the Olympians.

Columbus East has given up plenty on the ground to opponents including a 350-plus-yard night to Whiteland at the start of the year."

Lol. No HHC team has an O-line like Whiteland. If FC couldn’t run on East, injuries or not, then Seymour won’t either.

It was actually 20-14 entering the 2nd Q still a competitive game.

That reporter was way off lol.

East played without 3-4 starters on Friday night, the only difference is East has some backups they can plug in and really not miss too much. Hoping all teams heal up for sectional.

That was from the Louisville Courier-Journal. Lol. He said we had 8 Starters out, but I think it was more like 4. Maybe 5 against East/JC.

In the middle of our MSC tour right now, I'll leave it at that for now. We started Saturday at Scottsburg.

I hope you get SC/Brownstown! That’s going to be a barn burner!

  5. Floyd Central battling injuries

Two weeks ago against Columbus East, Floyd Central lost three starters to injury in the opening seven plays. The Highlanders were eventually crushed 41-14, but coach James Bragg remained optimistic.

“That’s one of those games where you don’t want to have the next man up mindset because they're so good, but we did,” he said. “I’m not having we have guys that can change the outcome of that games. Having said that, it was nice to see our character and desire and our competitiveness.”

Heading into Friday’s game against Bedford North Lawrence, the Highlanders will have five starters out, which is still better than last week when eight of them didn’t play. The biggest hole to fill has been the secondary, where the top three players each broke their collarbone.

“It’s not a hodgepodge,” Bragg said. “But we rotate a lot in that secondary to try to make up for what we’re missing.”

One of those players is senior Trace Willman, who played with a cast after breaking his hand against Male in the season opener. The defensive leader is ruled out for the season, but still comes to practice to help with the younger players.

Despite the injuries, the players have been in high spirits. Bragg also said that injuries have created more competition at practice because the players want to be the next man up.

The Highlanders are one win shy of finishing the season with a winning record, which was one of the team's goals for the year according to Bragg. They finished 5-5 in Bragg’s first year as the head coach last season.

“Kids get excited every time we check off our team goal for the season,” he said. “We got to play fundamental defense. Bedford runs the option to a T. We can play the option perfect for 60 plays. Four plays we don’t do it right can lead to 28 points for Bedford.”

Bedford North Lawrence (2-5) at Floyd Central (5-2)

The Stars gave up 507 yards and 10 touchdowns to Columbus East last week and the running clock was on in the second quarter. The Highlanders will rely on running back Wenkers Wright as it had all season to get the offense flowing. But they must overcome injuries to finish with a winning season.

  6. FC 55

    JC 24

Really impressed with FCs offense tonight. They were a well oiled machine throwing the ball. It’s coming along. I actually see some hope for JC. Their coach has a plan. Their offense was very creative. They really came out and moved the ball in the 1st qtr. Floyd adjusted their coverage and they really started getting heat on the QB. He throws a good ball. They had a couple of really impressive leaping TD grabs early. FC was just too much with Polk throwing downfield and Wright finding creases in JCs defense.

New Albany beats Seymour 20-17 and gets their first HHC win of the season.

Great win for NA. I really expected more out of Seymour.

  7. Floyd Central at JC is not a walk in the park. Floyd just lost their 2 best DBs. 1 for the season. And possibly another depending on how long they stay in the playoffs. FC is banged up on the O-line. Their 2 big nearly 300 lb guys didn’t even play against East. And I’m not sure if they are healthy or not. JC can throw the ball. And it’s on the road. I don’t think this game is a slam dunk at all.

Saw majority of the Floyd kids take off there helmets before the game and applaud and give the “yes” gesture with there head when Coach Gaddis was being acknowledged

And he deserves it. Tremendous coach. I have nothing but respect for him. It’s not his fault that the rest of the conference is up to par with him.

  9. Floyd Central Football shared this earlier. This was written by a Columbus East fan. I think the East fans will really appreciate the class shown by both sides here.

“Below is a message from a Columbus East fan to Floyd Central Football...

I would like to say thank you for being a class act football team athletes coaches and fans. We celebrate a milestone for our Coach Gaddis and you were genuine when you all applauded him before the game started. Thank you for the respect and thank you for your class act. Signed Self Proclaimed Columbus East Football Fan. Thank you and good luck for the rest of your season and future endeavors.”

There were some big time hits and stiff arms last night. I saw the kid that broke is collarbone as he dove for McDonald on the 61 yard run, it looked like he just landed wrong but he was in instant pain. It truly sucks for kids. Hopefully all of the Floyd kids have speedy recoveries.

I appreciate it. Unfortunately it’s just part of the game. You hate to see it happen. Floyd Central obviously doesn’t have the caliber of talent that a program like Columbus East has. But being a school of 1800 kids, they do have some decent depth. Their 2nd team guys aren’t too much worse than their 1st team guys. At least right now. I mean BNL is playing Freshman right now. NA is mostly Sophomore guys right now. There are other teams like that. Fortunately for FC, they have 27 Juniors and 12 Seniors. So they have upperclassmen depth.

Stats from tonight via the newspaper down south.

East had 575 yards of total offense (432 in the first half)

Mcdonald was over 125 yards rushing, Dalton Back had 5 receptions for 190 yards.

I was very impressed with the East D holding Wright to 20 yards on 10 carries. Kid is super fast and has some good moves.. Spurgeon lead Floyd in rushing as he gained all 75 of his in the 4th quarter. Lots of quality minutes for both teams tonight that will pay off down the road.

Floyd Central can handle losing this game. But they suffered some major injuries to key players. We lost 2 guys in our Secondary and 1 on the Offensive Line. 1 of them is for sure done for the season. The other 2 might make it back before the Sectional. This was worst case scenario stuff to me. I hate injuries to any HS kid.

Agreed, I did love the point where the last 9 minutes they let backup offense play. That’s how you get better. They were just gassed on D. The East back up offense ran 6 plays for 6 first downs to start the 3rd. The 3rd basically ran out after 1 series for Each team, same in the 4th as well.

You guys are just physically superior. But it’s been that way for a long time. Outside of 2010, I can’t remember ever matching up with East.

Floyd is severely undersized. They looked very small lining up against East. Wright is a fire cracker. Kid has a ton of speed, but the O-Line couldn’t open up any wholes for him. The Varsity D gave up there 1st TD in 9 quarters when Wright took the swing pass to the house. East offensively did anything they wanted in the 2nd half. I do like the running clock, it gets the game over much quicker. If it would have been the old rules East would have been looking at 60+.

I thunk Floyd is moving in the right direction, just need to put some size on honestly.

Defensively they are small. Their O-line is a little bit bigger this year but they need more time in the weight room. 4 of them are Juniors so hopefully they bulk up some more.
