Hoosier Hills Conference

Floyd scores to make it 7-7 at half. It shouldn’t be this hard. Seymour isn’t that talented. Correction. 7-6. Jinxed the kicker. -

Pre-game analysis Mt Vernon/Jeffersonville; Jeffersonville hasn’t been as bad as I thought they’d be. Nick Schindler has been solid at QB. They’re pretty big on their OL. I think with the long trip to Jeffersonville, I could see Jeffersonville pulling this game out over a solid Mt Vernon team. East/JC; Jennings looks a lot better. But East is too much for most HHC teams even in a down year. I don’t see this one being close. I expect a big game from Ethan Duncan. BNL/NA; Not an easy game to pick. NA definitely isn’t as good. I’m not sure about BNL yet but they had a decent win last Friday. The one edge I give to BNL is that I like their QB, Loudon, a lot. I’ll pick BNL in a game where every TD will be like found money. Seymour/FC; Really hard to pick this game. It’s a head vs heart thing. These teams are so similar. Floyd Central didn’t get to play them at home last season. 2 years ago we beat them up there in a blowout win. It’s a good QB battle. Robertson vs Perry. Should be entertaining. FC typically doesn’t play well up there. The difference here is that I think Floyd Central has the better defense. They can be vulnerable on the back end of their defense. But their front 7 is pretty good and even showed up against the Louisville teams. I expect this to be an entertaining game and I’ll pick my Highlanders to win by a small margin. -

New Albany declining is a big suprise to me. A lot of people must be moving up the hill and I just didn’t realize it. I can’t believe Jennings County is shrinking like that. Jeffersonville will always be the biggest in the conference. They’re basically building up the undeveloped side of Jeffersonville. They’ll be at 2500-2600 within 10-15 years. -

The Floyd Central-Seymour game is really intriguing. Seymour typically plays pretty well at home. Floyd Central won up there 2 years ago. FC usually doesn’t play very well up there. I think a big factor in this game is Floyd’s D-Line. They were tough as heck against Creek. 6”3 350 Lb NT Isaac Hunt and 6”1 270 Lb DT Emerson Jones should have good games. -

I actually saw on Twitter that they beat Batesville like 42-0 or something? I’m not positive on JCs point total but they blanked Batesville for sure. I do think that JC might have an uptick coming. And I agree with you, it does make you feel good to see a school like that have some success. Not too mention that a more competitive HHC is a better HHC. -

Floyd Central 27 Silver Creek 13. This game was never in doubt. Floyd jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Creek scored at the end of the game but otherwise Floyd Centrals defense dominated them from the get go other then letting one guy get behind the secondary. Floyd Central is playing without their top 2 RBs, top WR, and RT. We expect to get those guys back in the near future. Robertson was 10-16 passing for 166 yds and 2 TDs. Andrew Gibson and Cody Bibelhauser shared carrys and had 60 yards a piece on the ground. As a team FC ran for 144 yards. They held Silver Creek to 97 yards on 37 carries. Bragg had a good gameplan. It’s clear they could’ve scored a lot more but they worked hard on their running game and some other wrinkle stuff we didn’t see in the first 2 games. Right now I’d put us 2nd in the HHC. At Seymour is the next step so I won’t even worry about East just yet. 3 weeks untill that game. -

Seymour has East and Floyd the next 2 weeks. This is their make or break point of the season. 2 losses here and they’re out of the race. -

FC is pretty healthy other then their top RBs being out. And they got hurt in practice which can happen. They have other guys to carry the ball so I’m sure they’ll survive. -

I actually agree with you. And that team you had was pretty solid. -

I’m not in the pick em, because I’m not consistent enough, but I’ll give some analysis. BNL/Jeff-I think Jeffersonville will take this one. They aren’t a great team. But they aren’t bad either. And at home they won’t be a pushover. I love their RB. He’s a load to handle. Floyd/Silver Creek-This will probably be a competitive game. Floyd Central looks better despite the final results the past 2 weeks against 2 teams they really have no business playing. They have a size advantage over Creek. No word on how long Bernardi will be out. So Cody Bibelhauser will carry the ball. Floyd Central actually moved the ball against Male and Manual. But made too many mistakes inside the 20 and 30 yard lines. Robertson is capable of 200-300 yard games going forward. I think FC gets this one. East/Seymour-This one is hard. Because I think Seymour is a pretty decent team. East hasn’t looked good. Their opponents were both very good programs. But I don’t know if East can muster much offense right now? I watched their game on YouTube with North last weekend. Defensively they’ll be fine in the HHC. I’d say East will win an ugly game. Their defense will win this game. NA/JC-JC had a blowout win over Brown County. NA really hasn’t looked very good. They also struggle offensively. I’m going to pick Jennings County in a suprise early season upset over New Albany. -

Who would be the best football program in Southeastern Indiana? Would it be East Central? Does Dearborn County count as Southeastern Indiana? -

I can only speak for my team. We have some good pieces but there is still plenty of work to be done. We are down our top 2 Running Backs, and not having Bernardi is a massive blow. I do know that Floyd Central is done playing Male and Manual. The bad News is they’re playing Louisville St X next season and they’re actually better then those other two. But they’re playing Terra Haute South which is much closer to our level. Is Jennings County good, or is Brown County that bad? -

Let’s get out of these games and get to HHC games so we can all enjoy football again. -

Floyd Central is starting to wear down. Playing a lot of guys both ways. Manual has about 80 players on Varsity. Their depth is ridiculous. Bragg needs to stop playing these teams. This is insanity. That’s how I feel about Floyd. They can win most of their HHC games. Two top 5 teams in Kentucky, nope. -

Floyd Central playing tough once again. Down 7-0 in the 2nd qtr. Dropped a wide open deep ball for a TD. I’m liking this team. -

I believe that. I do think that the River Ridge expansion and the development on Hwy 62 will change that. But we’ll see. -

I have 2 bold takes for tonight. Keep in mind that I could definitely end up wrong because these are “bold” takes. Lol. I can see Jeffersonville beating Seymour. Seymour is the obvious favorite here. But Jeffersonville is intriguing since I’ve learned more about them. Their young OL is huge. They’re about 6-5 270 across the board or something like that. Their RB is 5”11 220 and he has some speed. I think they’ll suprise some teams. Also, it would not shock me, if FC could end up with a respectable score against Louisville Manual. The Male score didn’t look good, but that game was a lot more competitive then the final score. A 2 or 3 play difference and that game ends up like 35-21 or something like that. Floyd is going to get a decent amount of Ws this year. -

Silver Creek is a growing school. There is a lot of development going on in Sellersburg and neighboring Charlestown. Charlestown will be a 4A school someday down the road. -

I played for him as well. His 1998 team was his best team. They lost in the Regional in a close game to Cathedral. His 2001 team was really good but lost to state champion Jasper. In 2003 they won the HHC but lost in Sectionals to Curtis Painter and Vincennes Lincoln. Wiegleb retired, and he turned it over to his OC and things went really south untill Glesing put them back on decent footing. -

Yeah they’d be ridiculous as well. I’ve basically done it. It’s like East, Jeffersonville, Floyd Central. In that order. -

Also, I think it’s interesting that back in the 60s, there was talk of just having a Floyd County HS. Instead of NA and FC being split. Could you imagine that? 3700 enrollment school in this part of the state?
