  5. MG was a lot more physical than they were a year ago. Tipton lost 17 starters and are playing mostly Juniors and sophomores a freshman. MG is a team you have to get a lead on early because they just eat the clock on offense. Never throw a pass and 3-4 yards a pop, while taking the playclock down. Took my young Blue Devils a while to get in an offensive rhythm. I like what the MG coach is doing. They will keep getting better in my opinion. You can tell their kids like playing for him.
  6. I guess I’m just going off our game with them last year. He was 0/3 passing and ran 2 times for -6 yards. He averaged 6.3 pass attempts per game so he had a little more opportunity in other games. Just be interesting if he gets to throw it more often. Talented kid. But you’re right, if they’re averaging 8 yards per carry, I doubt he gets the chance.

  9. Their OL/DL will definitely be the strength of their team. I don’t think they’ll have anyone carrying it the caliber of Knepley or Gifford but will still have some really good backs. I look for the Padgett kid to have a really big year for them. It’ll be interesting to see how the use Engle at QB. When he was a youngster at Tipton I always thought he’d be a big time passer. Not a lot of opportunities in that offense though. Well at least in the past. Be interesting to see if they let him sling it around a little bit.

  12. 2 Sam Edwards- Starting QB 3 Drew Pearce- WR/S 33 have no clue. 87 Jayce(Sam’s twin) Edwards- Starting WR(yes it’s a WR not a RB this year) Coach Tolle’s son is 81 and will start at WR. He is just a sophomore. He played QB in middle school.
  13. I’m glad to be back in the North mostly because it just makes the most sense. No more hour+ drives for a Sectional game. I’m excited for this season because I think even though there are several unknowns with lot of new faces out there, it’s still a talented group. Losing 16 starters is tough for any team but i don’t there will be a huge drop off like there was in ‘14. This team could still have a great year and win a lot of games. Sr. OL/DL Kobe Stephens is back after being Jr. All-State last year. Jr. RB/LB Jayvin Lyons is back after being Jr. All State as a sophomore. I expect Lyons to be the best player on the field in most games. Kid is an animal. Also Jr. Wr/S Drew Pearce is back and is a big time playmaker. New QB Sam Edwards will be key as he has some huge shoes to fill. He’s not real big(5’10) but he’s very elusive in the open field and throws a pretty good ball. Not to look ahead but I think there will only be a few seniors starting so Tipton could return something like 17-18 starters for 2020. I look for this years team to continue to get better all year and peak come tournament time. Ready for Friday!
  14. Tipton will probably never drop Elwood since they are our oldest rivalry. I have always said that I wish we played Kokomo as our other non conference game and it was talked about for a few years but never happened. I don’t mind playing MG though. The Hoosier conference is really tough so no need to load up your non conference schedule. This year will be good playing MG and Elwood with such a young, inexperienced team. We will be starting mostly Sophomores and Juniors. Next year with an experienced team, it would be nice to play someone such as Kokomo right off the bat. Also Tipton will not be going back to the CIC. If they ever leave the Hoosier, it will be to create another conference along with the Hoosier East teams(Cass, Western, Northwestern and Hamilton Heights).
  15. With the new Sectional alignment, I will be even more interested in the CIC. My Blue Devils open with Madison-Grant and Elwood per usual but we also now in the same Sectional with Eastbrook, Blackford, Alexandria and Frankton.
  16. Tipton has had a few lately. Austin Hooker played QB and OLB on the 2013 state runner up team and KJ Roudebush played QB and Safety and OLB the past couple years. Neither were out of need but just were tough to keep off the field.
  17. Tipton only returns 5-6 starters. They will be starting a lot of Juniors and sophomores next year. Juniors to be are a very talented class but outside of a few are inexperienced. Should be average/solid this year and then really good again the following year.

  19. So happy for KJ. Great player and even better young man.
  20. QB. My guess is if it doesn’t work out he could potentially switch. I have no doubt he would be a good college LB or Safety as well.
  21. Tipton’s KJ Roudebush committed to UIndy tonight. Excited to see him at the next level. I know he won’t get outworked! Great player and even better young man.
  22. Webo returns some really good players in Wright, Wethington, Hole, and Stoudemire to name a few. Those receivers will be tough to replace imo. Those kids were very good. Webo will be one of the favorites once again in 2A.
