  1. Kid definitely has an arm! McFadden is an impressive runner too,. Anyone have any idea if he"s made a decision where he"ll play next-level ball?
  2. For what it's worth, that's a lot what this post sounds like.
  3. All teams go through rebuilding. This was actually supposed to be a rebuilding year for LCC and the game today showed some of the growing pains ... but also showed some of the same traditional resolve to compete regardless of the cards dealt. I think this one will be one that's savored even more because 1) LCC wasn't supposed to win and 2) the discussions leading up to the win had them pretty much written off completely. It will hopefully add to those intangibles in future teams ... like those spawned more recently by the Immaculate Interception in 2011 in a battle of #1 1A vs. #1 3A, Timmy Mills end of 1st quarter kickoff return for TD against West Lafayette in 2012, LCC first of 4-peat wins against Fountain Central, overcoming "city speed" in 2011 state title game, and even in losses against Tipton in sectionals in 2013, and RCHS in semi-state in 2014.
  4. I think he may have been going for a knockout punch. I think that you are right though in that passing the ball may well have led to the opening that LCC got and took full advantage of.
  5. The "grind" definitely paid off this season. If not for the HC schedule, they would not have won this game. May have had some problem against Adams Central and maybe even Trader's Point as well. It's probably not a lot of coincidence that Sheridan and LCC have nine state titles and 10 state visits while members of the Hoosier Conference. Defense ... as predicted.
  6. Not really because a team like that would not / should not be that stymied on those three or so plays that he was out to have made the difference in a game that they led by a TD with a couple of minutes deep in the opponent's territory. Realize that Buche was also out for a few plays on the LCC side during the game too. You could see him already hobbled when they came back from the locker rooms. The intangibles might well be the four inches of steel and the ability of the Knights to gut it out there at the end. The chaplain praying the rosary on the sideline probably falls into that too.
  7. I would agree. Even those that "have seen both teams play" still need to factor those in and forget about things like speed and turf.
  8. @BendNotBreak's intangibles come into play again.
  9. Definitely saw some in this one. Great start to the state championship weekend.
