BINGO!!! You don't think that LSU 19 squad would have ran roughshod over the 2025 field? The list can continue. This is NOT taking anything away from 2025 IU National Champions of the Professional Collegiate Football Season. Literally had this discussion at bocce ball last night with pals.... A fella I respect with sports wisdom said, IU cannot be considered in this discussion as GOAT because they barely beat a team who barely got in the playoffs in the fist place. If they went out there and creamed them by 3 or 4 touchdowns (like folks in this thread predicted) then there is basis for conversation. But they didn't and that is ok too, but I know the exuberance is warranted amongst the IU Football fans, especially the BRAND NEW ONES on their 2nd year of the 5 year rookie contract they signed up for after last year as brand new IU football fans, ( I know that is not you Komet or Bash so keep your pitchforks in the shed) but as I have stated, lets pump those brakes on GREATEST of ALL TIME ( That's John Cena btw) ESPECIALLY, if your only quantitive reasoning is they played and won 16 games, just like a YALE team in 1894........or in the 30s...... Fair enough I believe we all try to do that, seems like everyone here is pretty normal, my normal is not like many others however 🙂 No arguments here, for those who cannot show discipline , definitely could be evil.... but that goes with many things adults in America can choose to do.

FUN GAME: MATCH THE NFL OPENING TO NEXT HEAD COACH

ZERO BITTERNESS: Go back through every single iu thread I have spoken in: I have led with defending Coach Cig the moment I listened 1 month after he was hired at IFCA clinic. Why does the fact that they won a National Title in this era and myself pointing that out is somehow bitter? I am here to push back on the narrative that folks like @Komets2727 want to claim as BEST TEAM IN HISTORY of college football. I say pump the brakes there big boy: You are currently the best team in the current climate that is known as Professional Collegiate Playoff Football I contended only that there other GREAT teams that also would have had the same outcome as 2025 IU team had if they could have competed in the same rules established, why is that bitter? How quickly we forget the path that Coach Brohm took Purdue.... man that quick to forget after IU was the smart school to give Coach Cig the shot. I find it funny that MANY IU fans acting like every Purdue alum/Fan should just back the hoosiers because that is the right thing to do. Where was this same Energy when Zach Edey and 2 Sophomore guards led the team to National Championship game. Don't remember many of your ilk lining up supporting openly the mere possibility that Purdue could have won a Title on that night...... Lets see where these energies take us in March , fingers crossed I do but I believe you also spoke multi times about what the spread was each week and whether the Hoosier covered it or not I certainly hope they would: IU roster full of 23 Plus year olds beating up on a 1st year JV team that turned over 80 players in year 1. Not sure that is the flex you're hoping for there my friend. JUST IN THIS THREAD ALONE: As soon as the line came out, I said, -7.5, I WILL HAMMER THAT, because I thought it was easy money. 1. All you folks in here telling me how much that is easy money and no way they can stay with IU, many predictions of 3 to 4 Td victory around these parts. 2. My own eyes: IU Defense I thought would continue to make BECK useless (he was) 3. Disappointed in the IU OL that I was told was so dominant all year, they could run on anyone and all that.... but instead, they let Miami hang all game to the point where they could not hold on to the 10 point and extend it. SO IT GOES: Worse 3 day sports span in my adult lifetime I can remember.

I was in the stadium in 2010 when they beat Seahawks then lost next week when Chris Conte decided hero ball was in order instead of doing his job, but I digress. The next playoff game was under previous playoff structure where Matt Nagy achieved a 1st round bye and then the classic double doink game took place in Solider Field .... was not present then. But you point out what I have been saying since the Bears brass FINALLY go it right when it comes to ORG structure first and now we wait to see if they can finish the mission. The mission is sustain successes, Such as winning the NORTH/Making playoffs each year and eventually become Super Bowl team and dare I say a perennial Super Bowl contender ( you know like the Chiefs are currently, they will always be relevant bc of their QB and Coach). That is the goal imo: To be Super Bowl relevant YEARLY: Only way that happens in the current state of NFL is having a legit Franchise QB (that phrase is used so loosely, for instance, Jordan Love, is he a true franchise QB or a GOOD QB in a Good Org?_)

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/nfl-qb-rushing-yards-leaders-2025 He was 8th in the NFL this past year in rush attempts Of the 4 teams remaining in the playoffs only 1 has a QB in top 10, but would of have had 2 but instead on a play that DID NOT have to get called, Sean Payton decided to run a QB sweep and get his QB ankle broken ..... Darnold and Stafford did not even register in top 25 Nix hurt running Allen leads the way and is in Cancun and somehow got his HC fired Cannot wait until he erases that name entirely from the Bears record books.
-
But that is not RPO just saying I want my franchise QB to continue to build into a HEALTHY sustainable ALL PRO level QB, he is going into year 3 total, but year 1 of proper NFL offense and coaching that includes accountability to maximize the hard work and god given talent he possesses. SO YES, for me, PLEASE continue to make your 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd reads while the protection holds up. That is what the GREAT ones do. The others end up hurt and inconsistent because the RISK to leave the pocket is not worth any sort of short term reward such as a 1st down. Caleb was much better on being selective within his decisions on when to go and when to try to make the play per the progressions given within each play Coach sent in. and if he does achieve this very LOFTY endeavor then us Bears Fans will have one whale of the next 10 years

PERFECT RESPONSE !! Tango Gets it !!! The ole Middling ...thought I don't track live odds much not sure if you could of middled or not
-
1. Sure you can say that..... to me personally, seems nonsensical, like was I disappointed that Bears gave away a game they were in and absolutely could have won, YES, does that mean that the overall season is a failure, for me NOT A CHANCE 2. I said nothing nor have I inferred anything to the internal goals set by Coach Johnson, other than what he publicly said from DAY 1, which was the expectation is to win and WIN NOW, to me they did, just not all the games to get them to the Super Bowl. 3. Fair enough: I personally can seperate on field and front office / organization business / players choices of the field
-
That would be considered a SPREAD TRIPLE OPTION play, I have seen in only a few times the last 5 or 6 years: Klif tried with Kyler and got him killed and Lamar as well early on, but he too has been not running as much as he once did for clear reasons. Your verbiage is not correct that is why I am confused by what you are expecting out of Caleb Williams ?
-
Thanks for your responses.... 1. Disagree, because of your statement where you felt 8 or 9 at best, when they exceeded that, then you cannot say well NOW they have to get to Conf Champ game...... wouldn't that be moving the goalposts on expectations? IMO, you have a set expectations, if they achieve those, and exceed those, you cannot call the next goal that wasn't stated prior to that a failure. 2. How does where a team decides to play their games change the on field product? Their Organization is and will remain in Lake Forest IL

RPO is not RUN for QB Its RUN to RB... then READ, PULL and RIP to WR all before NFL OL are 1 yard forward (not 3 like in College and HS, hence why you barely see it) Now, if you're a referring to him not being a 1 read and tuck and go like he was when he was sacked an NFL record 68 times his rookie season then HELL YEAH, I am ALL FOR THAT, because there is a reason guys who are RUN 1st QB as you stated do not last the way the non runners do. Being selective to get a 1st down, move the chains, vs taking sacks or throwing the ball away to live for another down.

Perfect hire for Chargers: Those 2 weirdos belong with each other -
That's my point: You don't think some other teams in the last 40 years would good enough to win 16 straight games?? There is NO possible way to call any team the greatest of all time in college football because of the systems that have been played in. Congratulations, 2025, IU FOOTBALL team is the greatest team in the PAID NIL 6 to 7 years of College eligibility era. Put it on a patch and on the letter Jacket
-
Caleb can run an RPO, its a play, there is not an NFL head coach or Offensive Coordinator that is an "RPO" system , sure there are teams that build it for a play or so, but nothing that is exclusively I will continue to Trust this guy below and what he is doing.... Why is Kliff Kingsbury currently unemployed ? Washington fired him after Arizona Fired him, he was the last true RPO college coach to come into the NFL and yet another failed offense system .... Instead they are hiring a pro style QB who has sky rocketed up the coaching ranks... his name is David Blough...... @Muda69 Questions that I hope are easy for you to answer if you CHOOSE to. 1. Was the 2025 Bears Season Successful? Yes or No? 2. Did the 2025 Bears Season beat your pre season bias on outcomes that you assumed you were going to get? 3. Are you excited for the next 5 years of Bears football? If YES, why is that?
-
Yes, clearly a TIC comment Is there any other team in History that would beat this IU team? Just because they were afforded the opportunity to play 16 games that others in the previous eras did not... so how can you quantify this statement? Bottom line you cannot because I am certain there other teams in other years that also went undefeated would do so also if they were afforded the opportunity to play 16 games like this team did.

FUN GAME: MATCH THE NFL OPENING TO NEXT HEAD COACH
Coach Nowlin replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Next Level
Their track record does go to the unknown assistant Mike McCarthy is begging for the job...... Pitt area native and all But you shouldn't fire Mike Tomlin and bring him that guy.... same ole imo -
Nice Try You can have your opinion, you also have the opportunity to be wrong too. Which you are in this case All the NFL GREAT QBs must be able to go under center and Coach Johnson has instilled that, has worked on changing habits to be more consistent, I look for this to continue to grow into year 2. You like my boomer father also have a sports ideology that their players must be perfect in everything they do. Not the reality Don't think Caleb nor Coach Johnson is pleased with his overall completion %, how much is that on QB ? Is that fully on him? OL ? How much did the Bears pass catchers have to own in this? Any? I know at one point they were the group that led the NFL in Pass Catch drops.... but yes, CW18.... has to be him..... SO: I will ask you again, give me some specifics Muda, armchair coach, what would YOU do differently to coach Caleb Williams. What drills? What schemes to maximize YOUR fundamentals that you want Caleb to achieve that coach Johnson his staff do not already for your liking? Give me some specifics, but you will probably coward behind some lame ole classic Muda Answer full of sarcasm as you just proven in your last post. Do not be mad that Bears were in a game you predicted they lose by double digits..... I do have 23 years of studying the game of football, going to clinics, hosted by NFL teams, listening to College coaches all across the country, so yes, I think that provides me more detail of what I am looking at versus others.... didn't say I was smarter, just I have more real life applicable experience then you. Just like I don't venture into IT world that you dominate as your profession...... maybe I should just throw out baseless claims in that lane ..... and pretend I am an armchair IT guru who can offer up opinions too
-
Tell me more about what you know more than HC Ben Johnson when it comes to QB fundamentals and what works and doesn't work in the NFL? The Miracle play you refer to was because the OL missed an entire blitz package, so what did Caleb do? Only something maybe only Mahamoes or Allen can do.... but yes... it's Caleb Williams fault..... SEE ABOVE: No idea what you are looking at, thankfully you're not in charge BINGO What a year: Played with house money most of the year, great year 1, now it turns into GM Poles and his staff along with Coach Johnson to build the key pieces in the next 2 years to maximize what you already did in the draft and development and signings on the offensive side of the ball. How much will the inconsistencies of EFFORT by #2 weigh into what they will do? Plenty of buzz of cutting Moore, meh, don't like that, you can convert his money to free up lots of money, same with Thuney as well and Jarrett, turn guarantee money into signing bonuses, and frees up nearly 30 million additional cap space. Then there is the theory that Crosby wants out of LV badly and is very much interested in playing in Chicago. What would that cost? D.J and a 2nd and 6th SIGN ME up: 1st and DJ I can live with: DJ and 3 picks like 1st, 5th and 2nd next year ABSOLUTELY NOT
