It is dumb that Indiana is even on Eastern time, Indiana is NOT Eastern. The whole state should switch to Central time!

its better for sports and watching sports anyways!

Farmers and tractors have enough lights and navigational systems that they can work with less natural light for an hour or two! Its about the kids anyways.... right?

    I agree!

I'd agree that's a nice matchup for top end DAC and other Region teams who can be defined as "competitive." Crete on a down year is getable by the LC's of the world. On a year when they're pretty good, idk if any more than 3-4 Region teams would be able to compete with them. I agree with ya though Gipper, better matchup year in and year out than some other games we've seen with longer travel.

They played West Lafayette 5-6 years ago.  WL won in Crete while Crete destroyed them the following year at Ross-Ade Stadium, no less.

There has been a slight adjustment to this list that has not become official on Harrell yet. But LC will NOT be playing Providence Catholic. Per Providence Catholic's official website the Celtics will be playing Wheaton North for their week 1 and LC's week 2 on 8/30. Not sure how this happened. I have heard rumblings in the Region that LC will now play Grand Rapids Central Catholic, winners of 6 State Championships since 2016 and 12 total in their existence. Last game vs a Region opponent was against the 2021 Andrean State Championship team (34-14 W for the Cougars). The Blue Indians could be in for a tough one against the Central Catholic Cougars.

Lake Central at Grand Rapids Central Catholic (MI) Week 2 (1st meeting, 13-1 with a State Championship last season. Only loss coming in week 1 to Loyola Academy, Chicago, IL)

If any of the Region teams go out of state, I would recommend playing Crete-Monee.

  4. Being we are a football community; how dare I slight the pros?

Packers: Groups of people who toil in the meat-production industry

    Browns:  Composite Colors

    Bengals: Hybrid Leopards

Jaguars: Native Panthers (wouldn't want one of those chilling in my pool)

    Cowboys: Bovine Herders

    Chiefs: Leaders of First Nations

    Jets: Fixed-Wing Airplane Fleet

  5. Cardinal, Crimson (Tide), Maroons--Darker Reds

    Bears, Bruins, Grizzlies--Doglike Carnivorans

    Royals--Elites, Light Blues

    Gophers--Furry Rodents

    Ducks, Geese--Waterfowl

    Beavers--Dam-Building Aquatic Rodents

    Highlanders--Hill People

    Senators--Political Officials

  6. Sycamores can also be referred to as Buttonwoods or Flowering Trees

Valparaiso figured it out as they are now known as the Beacons

Purdue Northwest has been rebranded as the Pride (group of Lions)

Texas A & M and Utah State should change to Farm Laborers

The Commodores of both Perry Central and Vanderbilt University should be rechristened as Naval Officers or Soul Music Group

    Blue Jays--Passerine bird

    Dragons--mythical fire breathing creatures

    Bombers--war planes

    Warriors--Instigators, Aggressors

    Lions--Keystone Predators, Barberies

In case you haven't noticed, the whole country has gone way overboard on political correctness.  Our high school teams did not get the message which makes me sad.  But, I'm here to help:

Eagles, Falcons, or any other bird of prey: Raptors

Indians or indigenous peoples: First Nations

    Bronc(h)os, Stallions, or anything horse-related--Equines

    Bison/ Buffalo: Bovines

    Bulldogs: Domesticated Canines

    Wolves: Largest Canines

    Cavaliers, Patriots: Defenders, Protectors

Ancient (Athenian, Spartan, Trojan, etc.): Big Shot, Leviathan

And the two nearest and dearest to my heart:

    Rebels: Agitators, Insurgents, Renegades

Devils: Kings of Hell, Lucifer, Holly Terror, Scallywag, Wretch

Your team may not be here, but don't think they're totally innocent, I just haven't come up with a name for them yet such as Greyhounds: sporting canine and Giants: Mutants

    Let's have them...

    Tigers: Carnivores

C (or K) ougars, Panthers, Wildcats: Feral Felines

    Pirates: Fortune Hunters

    Vikings: Sea Rovers

    Huskies: Service Canines

Brickies, Miners, Mounties, Slicers:  Employees, Proletariat

    Hornets: Flying Stinging Insects

Gipper - what are you talking about in regards to Andrean and NCC?

Examples please. I can think of LaVille last year as one they should have won with a very young team. NCC has had state finalists in Hobart and Andrean(2) in last 5 years.

Although Hobart and Andrean have been good, Highland, Lowell, and Munster are spinning their wheels.  Jury's out on Hanover and KV.

Could you give examples? Just as an outsider of their schedule it looks pretty beefy to me. I'm also not familiar with some of the teams they play on their schedule but a third of it is Bishop Chatard, Merrillville, and Valpo. All very top notch teams. Hanover Central seems to be a program on the rise and Lowell is always tough with good athletes from the games I've seen.

They play in the NCC, just an average league.   Lowell isn't the same Lowell.

Saw someone wanted this topic, so here we go. Obviously some new faces coming up in Adams Central and Lutheran. Could make a very strong case for both being able to represent the North and South in 2A if they were there the last two years. Interesting to see how they fair this year. Plenty of representatives from both schools on here, so I'll let them talk about what they have returning. As far as the North goes, I like Bluffton, LCC, and you can't ever rule out Andrean for the North. Obviously not sure what Adams Central has, but they should be in that mix as well just because of what they have been able to accomplish the last two years. If I had to pick dark horses, I'd go with Eastside, Eastbrook, and Rochester in the North. All run offenses that seem to fair well no matter the conditions and always have solid defenses to go with it. Maybe someone can chime in on the South favorites or teams to watch. No Mater Dei in the South takes a huge contender out of the mix down there. What do y'all think?

    Andrean is very inconsistent.

Don't think a lot of folks foresaw Penn jumping into Sectional 1. Tough draw for Lafayette Harrison, gotta imagine they'd rather be grouped with the DAC (like Jeff was) than Westfield, Zionsville, and Carmel. Tough draw for LC and Portage as well.

I was surprised, but like it.

This really needs to go to a ballot. I think the $4B pricetag itself also includes some massive infrastructure changes around the stadium. Possibly diverting Lake Shore Drive underground near the stadium was one of the more drastic changes I've heard.

I lived and worked in Chicago for over 20 years and hate this idea.  But sadly, I don't think it will go to a ballot as Johnson, Pritzker, and the McCaskeys will make sure it happens.  The Bears need to focus on pitting a good team on the field first.
