Frank Karczewski will have to start his head coaching career delayed. The SBCSC school board won't meet until August 1.
-
Congrats to Frankie, well done.
This doesn't have to do with football, but there was an article in the South Bend Tribune on the 1976 State Champ Adams Volleyball team.
People are still bitter.

Colson Montgomery currently has a 44 game on base streak and it up to High A in the White Sox organization

I have people close to the program

I was talking to someone close to the Adams program. They said a former Adams player will be hired as the new head coach.
The new AD was a former Adams player as well.

And I assume his sons will play at Penn as well (if they’re still in high school). That’s nice for the Adams kids, lose their head coach and a player or 2 a month before the season officially begins. I’m sure Adams will find a top replacement in no time.
South Bend isn't a destination site. I don't see a football savior on the horizion.

Per WHME Antwon Jones has resigned as SB Adams head coach to take a job as head of security at Penn. it’s expected he’ll be hired as an assistant coach there also
He read the writing on the wall. SRO's are going to be out in South Bend

Michigan City High School student l body was given a list of nicknames to vote on when Elston and Rogers consolidated and Wolves was selected. I thought they should have become the Cohos as for decades Michigan City has been renounced as the Coho fishing capitol of the Midwest.
I was teaching at Elston the last year before the consolidation and was at the high school for a few year after. I remember voting for the school colors. Navy was the choice and the students got to pic the secondary color. Teal, white and gray were the choices.

Sorry, most CYO coaches are the dad's who volunteer to coach. PAL football, Carroll in Fort Wayne, Homestead and even Leo have youth football programs starting in 4th and 5th grade. So you are just wrong. I thought this was about 1A and 2A. Success factor will move your schools out of your way so you can win.
Just because they don't get paid doesn't mean they aren't quality coaches.
Case in point is the dominance of the Fort Wayne CYO against the South Bend/Mishawaka ICCL over the years.

In a weird way, the impending LACK of FB officials (nationwide) may facilitate the elimination of the 300 mile rule and games being played amongst multi-state schools on nights OTHER THAN Fridays on a regular basis.
Interesting take.
Is Friday Night so sacred that no one ever thinks to play varsity football on weeknights. It would seem easier to find officials that way.

And some publics to be fair, but most those schools are already 6a.
Mebuck took offense to the idea that his Bishop Dwenger Saints is one of those schools that has no boundaries. I've never known Dwenger to actively recruit kids outside of their feeder system. They pretty much do it all from within. So like I say, kudos to them.
SB St Joe and Marian don't have boundaries. Kids can go to either school

Utter BS. Do you still live in Indiana? Take a few trips around and ask.
Then explain Fort Wayne's dominance over South Bend/Mishawaka ICCL over the years
-
Just Curious:
How many Catholic high schools are in each city. South Bend/Mishawaka currently has 2 with another school mostly Catholic and a new start that will have a high school in 2 years.

Bob James approved as head coach by a 6-1 vote
-
According to WHME, Coach James' will be reconsidered for the Head job. There seems to be some school board members that may change their minds.
Go figure

Conference alignment may come down to geography in the near future. With lack of bus drivers throughout the state and the price of fuel, schools may opt for shorter drives for athletic contests.
In addition, with the referee shortage, crews may not be willing to make the drive to officiate if they think they can't make money.
These are facts, especially in the Southern part of Indiana.

One of the drivers behind the officiating shortage is the unreasonable behavior of fans toward sports officials. Many of those “fans” are actually parents or other relatives of players. If they act that way, in public, toward officials, I can only imagine how they act toward coaches when Little Johnny is riding the pines, or Little Suzy is batting 8th instead of cleanup. I’m sure @Impartial_Observercan share on that subject, as can many others.
I am not as tech savvy as most on here, but there is a great youtube video by coach Frank Martin (then of South Carolina) about referees and coaches. It is worth a listen.

When I first started teaching, there were some positions that were more "coach friendly". Today, that isn't the case. I have seen coaches leave because they can't do their teaching and coaching jobs to the level they want.
Getting to know the kids outside the field is very important. If you only see them at practice, it's hard to develop relationships with them.
There are many head coaches that can't find decent assistants to help, so he does most of the coaching solo. Not good for one's sanity.

What has been the community reaction to that option?
The community wants all 4 high schools. They are upset with how the monies are being spent from the referendum. Besides Adams, the other three high school are at about 50% capacity. But it doesn't seem to matter to the public.
I don't want any school that covers grade 6-12. Not good.
If you make Clay an athletic facility, how are the kids going to get out there. No bus service.

Riley's new coach is Derrick Lee. He is the nephew of SBCSC AD Milt Lee. He came from Muncie Central

I think "blue blood" is more about sustained excellence than number of championships.
The top of the list is Cathedral who has won championships in the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and 20s
I may have missed someone who tied that mark

This topic intrigued me after seeing that IU basketball was still considered a Blue Blood. A Final Four appearance in the last 20 years kept their status in tact...........until now. They've officially dropped off the charts. Who are the high school football Blue Bloods? What qualifies a team as a Blue Blood? What does a team have to do the maintain that status? The following is my perspective:
Qualifications:
One state title. Two semi-state titles. Five regional titles. Ten sectional titles.
Maintenance: Last 15 years
One state finals appearance. Two semi-state appearances. Four sectional titles.
1A: Adams Central, Sheridan, and South Putnam.
2A: Mater Dei, Memorial, Luers, Scecina, LLC, Linton-Stockton, and Pioneer
3A: Heritage Hills, Ritter, Southridge, West Lafayette, and Western Boone.
4A: Chatard, Roncalli, Reitz, Lowell, and St. Joe
5A: Columbus East, Dwenger, Snider, Cathedral, New Pal, Valpo, and Zionsville
6A: Ben Davis, Carmel, Center Grove, Penn, Warren Central, and Westfield
Teams left out that surprised me: Avon, Hobart, Jasper, and Merrillville.
Hobart gets back in with a sectional title any time over the next few years. Merrillville gets in with a state finals appearance, which will be more achievable at the 5A level.
So 20th century high school football isn't relevant?

I agree with what you said as to the reasons.
As a former high school baseball coach, I struggled with players resistant to do things the way I want them. The response usually was That's not what my travel coach said".
So right there, they have no respect for you. Add multiple players on different teams, it's hard to have continuity.
If the parents don't respect you, even privately, how can you successfully have a team.
