4-7 won’t cut it for most of us big blue backers this year. They are bringing back the majority of their starters from last year, and Cory is in his third year at the helm. I expect to see a huge jump this year. -

Having made that drive to East Central several times, it is terrible. There really is no straight line to get there from here, and it doesn’t matter which way you go. But their facilities are nice. -

I believe best defense will be Reitz just because of the number of returning starters this season. No clue on offense. -

QB is all currently rumor and speculation, so as of now, no comment on that (although it seems there is quite a bit of meat on the bone at a rumor going around currently), but O-line should be very solid. No real hits to it as most were also underclassmen (only one senior I believe last year). Two biggest things to watch this season with Reitz is the growth of the defense, and if a freshman will be starting at running back. Not saying it will happen, but the kid is an extremely dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. You will probably find out about a QB before I do. -

You are correct. 8 sophomores either started or saw extensive minutes on the defensive side of the ball including three of the four Defensive backs, and four of six defensive linemen on a rotational basis. Throw in the younger Oxley boy at MLB, there are the 8 I can currently think of. -

Majority of their talent this year is in the sophomore class, with 7 or 8 starting on defense, and the 8th grade class this year. Don’t be surprised to see two or three freshman starting for Reitz next year, and I can guarantee that one will be starting, possibly even at quarterback. -

Unfortunately, I was unable to make the game due to my work schedule yesterday, but it sounds like they just ran out of gas after tying it up at 28. I could be wrong, but that’s what I believe happen. (I’m sure Jay Smith had between 30 and 40 carries again last night.) -

Unfortunately, yes he is a senior. Burnett is a junior and should be back next year. And of course the defense on the hill is starting 7 sophomores I believe it is. -

Jay Smith won this game tonight. He carried every yard on the 80 yard drive to take the lead. Well over 200 on the ground for him. -

Going back to this game, did you see the “fumble” by Jay Smith at the three? I have. For those who don’t know, Teitz was driving and was inside the North 10 ( I believe it was at the 5, but I could be wrong), ball is handed to Smith who dives into the left side of the line, is hit and tackled. You see the ball on the turf after the tackle, squirts off screen to the left, and a couple of seconds later (literally), Smith walks in frame, hands the ball to the white hat, walks away to huddle. Officials confer at the spot, fumble is called, and North is awarded possession. How, when the Reitz RB hands you the ball? I believe it is on HUDL, as my friend has access due to being a coach for the 7th and 8th grade teams. -

Couldn’t get it in because of the crash, but thoughts were: Reitz over Lincoln Castle over MD Jasper over Harrison Memorial over North Central over Bosse Boy, have I been wrong about that last one so far. Bosse up 14-0 -

I believe (don’t quote me on this) that Reitz will only have two senior starters next year, and no skill starters will be one. I believe that a lot of this year’s freshmen will make the jump to varsity, and the record will be around 6-3, but the jump will be when that class becomes juniors (two years from now). But I am on the outside looking in. -

Mater Dei Central North Castle over Jasper in a slugfest Memorial over Reitz. That being said, Reitz is playing for the future at this point. That are playing a lot of underclassmen. At this point, I think we see this season as a wash on the hill, and are currently transitioning to next year’s team now. -
