From the one game I've saw, I think Coach Hall is on the right track. They hung tough with Norwell for the 1st half until the conditioning kicked in. I was really impressed by that effort compared to the last few years. I hope our youth league will start turning out more studs for Bellmont like we have for AC. It'd be nice to have all 3 schools in different classes like it was for awhile. Could you imagine if that were the case and all 3 made it to LOS the same year?

Blood is thicker than water. It won't feel right, but I have to do it until my son is playing for the Jets (if he does). My step son will have to play across the line due to his parents' shared custody agreement before I met my wife. Will be hard to support his Crestview Knights, and will be just as hard to support my other cousin's kids being Parkway Panthers. We have the state line covered as both of the cousin's I mentioned are Bellmont grads. I grew up on the state line with my mail box being in Crestview district but the house in AC district. Less than 3 miles north is the Bellmont/AC border, 1.5 miles south is the Crestview/Parkway border, and 8.25 miles is the AC/SA border.

Yes, I thought losing Stutzman was the biggest reason. Like you said, instead of two vertical threats it was one, thus allowing more attention to Miller. Although, I think Cook's speed could help this year. The biggest impact will be the AC defensive end position as no one has matched Voirol's output. Collier has shut down his side of the line, but the youth hasn't on the other. This is the make it or break it year for South Adams in my opinion. AC has some good juniors and freshmen, but I'm curious to see when this years freshmen class becomes juniors & seniors. They have some talent and had been 2 deep for most positions if they all stick with it. They will have a few 8th graders with talent and another talented 7th grade class joining them. I would rate the freshmen as the better class of the 3, but the 7th grade isn't far behind when comparing each at each stage. The 8th graders may not be as talented as the grades around them, but they bring that grit and determination factor that is needed. Though in a few years after those grades, I'm going to have to briefly support the Starfires for a bit due to family.

After the regional game last year, that turned out to be the biggest set up of all time. They gave SA a 10 to 15 yd cushion to pick them apart in the regular season and put up that score. I don't think they'll play that soft this time, but I don't think they will stop SA's pass offense either. I could see 35-21 Starfires or even 28-14 Starfires depending on special teams play as well. If SA has their way though, they'll try putting 70+ on the board.

I know the local news stations in Ft Wayne will have this as their game of the week. Being a proud Flying Jets fan/alum, I have a feeling the Starfires get a repeat of last year's regular season game. Maybe not as wide of margin as last time, but South Adams will be out for blood. I think South Adams offense will be too much for the Adams Central defense to handle in the end. I'd like to see AC's defense hold South Adams like Monroe Central did in the first half last week. I do think AC will be more potent on offense this year compared to last year's regular season match up. It does appear that South Adams has some trouble defending the run from time to time in the moments I've watched on the webcast. Everyone knows the Jets love to just ground and pound the ball. It also appears that Adams Central will struggle some to defend the pass like the Eastside game. The Jets also struggle to stop the run on one side of the defense as they haven't found a solid replacement for DE from last year's graduating class. They have a few young guys getting acclimated to the varsity level on that side. I could be wrong and another repeat of last year's regional game could occur, but I don't think so this time. I do hope that we can get another regional rematch in 2020 as that could be a tight one like 2019 was. However, we shall see what happens in Berne on Friday night.

Northeast Indiana top 10
Basementbias replied to NE8Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Depends on how you're breaking the state down if they're NE Indiana or EC Indiana. This is coming from someone who is near the edge of NE/EC Indiana separation area. The IHSAA regionals for football would consider most of them NE but HS basketball (girls especially) have them in the South for tournament (Winchester vs Central Noble). -
Northeast Indiana top 10

Don't fret it. My NE8 picks this week make me look terrible. EN losing to Leo and then Norwell took it to New Haven. Plus CC had to escape DeKalb. Some teams came to play and others didn't. It happens to all of us. Just tells me that NE Indiana shouldn't look for a 4A champion this year at this point. Looks like Mooresville will be the team to beat in that class. Dwenger vs Carroll should be a good one but they're high school kids and the routine has changed so it's a crapshoot. -
Bellmont at Huntington North-Huntington North ends up by 21+; Braves will stay close for a quarter maybe 2 and then the 2nd half slips away from them like last week. Columbia City at Dekalb- Columbia City pulls away as DeKalb just hasn't played as much East Noble at Leo- Taking East Noble in a close one if healthy enough. Think they'll be a little more battle tested if it is tight. New Haven at Norwell- I'm taking New Haven by 7 to 10. I've watched Norwell the past two weeks against inferior opponents and there are some weak areas on the defense. The offense just isn't consistent enough yet either. That Pioneer win going back and forth gives me more faith in the Bulldogs. In 2 weeks though I could see this going the other way.

DTs Dandy Dozen - The New 6A vs 1A Phenomenon

Might be a little hard if AC runs the play clock down on each snap and runs the ball non stop. -

Right now that is fair, but I think that is whom AC needs to strive to beat. I don't see a repeat of last years Regional outcome, but would like to see it be a rematch at least. Curious if Southwood is the same as 2017 or if they were like the last couple of years. -

1. Carroll 2. Dwenger T3. Homestead T3. East Noble T5. North Side T5. Leo 7. New Haven (Pioneer win puts them ahead of SA & Eastside for now) 8. South Adams 9. Eastside (Week 6 SA vs AC could vault Blazers up, but think SA will have better victory over common opponent) 10. Coumbia City (Would have been nice to compare Bellmont result against SA & AC's cancelled games vs Bellmont) In the mix.. Northrop, Concordia, Snider, Norwell, Adams Central, Southwood, & Angola -
Northeast Indiana top 10
Basementbias replied to NE8Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I guess I'm basing my top 10 different then the rest of you. I wasn't factoring head to head comparisons, but who will have the better season in their respective schedule. I'm only positioning based off class and schedule, giving the respect for the bigger classes as a tie-breaker so to speak. -
Northeast Indiana top 10

I'm not sure I'd have Snider (odd to say that) in the top 10 currently. I'd move South Adams up to 8 and put Snider in at 11 (in the mix). -
Looking forward to seeing the Norwell @ Bellmont game on the witness. I will have to add it to my Friday night lineup on the laptop.

Week 2 score Update
Basementbias replied to Warren05's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'm not sure. I was half paying attention to the SA game as I had 5 games on at once (4 in Indiana & 1 in Ohio). I thought the webcast said a minor ankle problem that they thought was just precautionary in a game that had been decided. #15 & #26 are men for sure and I'm wondering what ways they're going to start putting them together to balance out the offense a little more that they haven't shown yet. At this point they will put a whipping on AC as the Flying Jets are just young at a couple of key positions this year. I'm not sure SA will have any test this year unless AC progresses like they did last year. -
Week 2 score Update

They're on a mission this year. For South Adams it's state title or bust if the season is able to play out. They have the talent to do it as long as they stay disciplined. -

Hope so as well but that was a very long delay and that's not a good sign from experience. Prayers to him that it is minor and a quick recovery! -
Inter-sectional games
Basementbias replied to Gipper's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well it would be SA at this point to contend in our area. AC is not looking good at all and getting handled by 14 to Eastside. The 2 key losses from graduation are the glaring holes so far. SA is just steamrolling Cass at this point. Hoping the AC injured player is going to be ok. He's been down for quite a while which is scary. Thought he was holding his helmet when he was first down. 😔 -

Yeah I knew what you meant. Hoping the result is different either way if it is SA or AC. Would be good for our area to try and strengthen back up to the 90's & 00's for the conference. -
Inter-sectional games
Basementbias replied to Gipper's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
It was the Regional game. They used to be sectional opponents until the realignment. Hoping it is an exact repeat of last season but a different semi state outcome! -
This will be a good week to see how much has changed from the 1st week of the season. See if the AC defense does a better job of wrapping up and if the offense can continue to look good. They'll have a major test in Eastside and quite frankly were lucky to beat them last year. This will be a good barometer of what to expect come week 6 or so.

This is probably more beneficial for them to be honest. I'm sure it allows Coach Hall to catch up on things he wasn't able to since he got it at the last minute.
