  2. It may be our only chance at making it a game if they play a second time.
  3. I shouldn't complain this year as the draw worked out very nice for my Flying Jets and also because South Adams is in a different sectional. It seemed that the draws the last decade since both schools were in the same class and sectional, had them meeting in the first round if not then the 2nd. It does suck that Busco and Southwood play the first game instead of the 2nd round. Also sucks that Monroe Central should play South Adams in the 2nd round instead of the finals. Hopefully the regional works itself out though and either AC, Southwood, or Busco takes on South Adams (or Monroe Central if they pull off an upset). If we get AC vs SA in round 2, I hope it just monsoons like it did in Woodburn this past Friday. 😄

  5. I've saw one post I like on this discussion and I agree with seeding the tournament by regionals. Only seeding the top 8 was mentioned and then random drawing the rest of the teams. You can award 2 sectional champs after 3 games (ex 1-4A) (2 games for 5/6A) still. You can have the seeded teams host the sectional games and then higher seed hosting in the 2nd/3rd sectional tournament games. Then start neutral field for regional games and semi state games. I'd classify regionals as NW, NE, SW, & SE. I'd rotate which regional champ plays each other each year. So year 1-NW vs SW & NE vs SE, Year 2-NW vs NE & SW vs SE, and Year 3-NW vs SE & NE vs SW. What I like about our current format over Ohio: All in What I dislike compared to Ohio: we don't seed Simplify/compromise: All in with half seeded & half random draw.

  7. Everyone in 1A Northeast region for Southwood, AC, & Busco not to face each other until Rd2 and Sectional finals. Also for Monroe Central to play SA in that sectional final. Then most likely SA playing the survivor of Southwood, AC, & Busco for a shot with LCC (from what I read here). Sectional 43-1. SA & 2 Monroe Central. Sectional 44-1. Southwood, 2. AC, and 3. Busco. Still think this will be SA's year to claim the crown.

  11. Starfires are pulling away in this one. Arnold just too much to handle passing it. 35 to 6 Starfires. 1A NE region has been put on notice that South Adams is the team to beat.
  12. Lightning needs to stay away, but let it rain decently in Monroe tonight!
  13. Gotta love seeing this. These two buddies will be competing against each other in about 13 to 14 years or so.
  14. Well it's game day finally! For those that can't make it, The Berne Witness does a webcast. It will also be on radio for 1380 AM/103.9FM (Ft Wayne area north otherwise 103.9FM is Jay County for the Adams Co & other areas). I'd have to believe 92.7 FM WZBD (Adams County Radio) has the broadcast as well. Good luck to both teams! GO JETS!
  15. Would play in the regional, but had been sectional opponents for the last few years since SA dropped down to 1A. South Adams will have to get by Monroe Central again, while the Jets would have to get by Busco and Southwood. Both Busco and Southwood are tough matchups for the Jets.
  16. Learned tonight that gates are opening at 5:45 and both schools sold an allotment of presale tickets.

  18. Yes the Flying part of Flying Jets seemed a bit redundant. I'd have personally went with Fighting or Fighter Jets. The Starfire is a car from Oldsmobile, though I'm not sure that was the intended naming. I'm hoping it will be closer than what I expect it will be. If South Adams gets any chance to put big numbers on the board, they will do so after the last 3 years or so.
  19. My guess would be around 6 but I'm not sure. I remember the 2016 season waiting at South Adams for the gates to open with my grandpa in his wheelchair and having to wait on the gates to open. Hopefully AC has it ready to go as there should be a good crowd awaiting to get in.
  20. Alright, let's get some chatter about this one started. There's a whole lot to this one as it is a rivalry with bragging rights. Bragging right #1: winner is the county champion of the regular season as both squads handled Bellmont. Bragging right #2: winner is in the driver's seat for the ACAC crown. Adams Central is the 2x defending conference champion currently. Disclaimer: I'm a Flying Jet graduate and former player (not a good one 😂). Looking to this matchup from the beginning of the season, I believed South Adams would be the favorite and most likely winner. After watching the first 5 weeks, nothing has changed in that regard. However, the Flying Jets are a lot better than I expected them to be this year. Looking at SA, the offense runs through the QB Arnold. This team is a high flying offense as he throws it all over the field to numerous weapons. WR Stutzman is a favorite target, as is Wanner and Bixler. Do not forget about the H-Back Miller either. South Adams also has two physical RBs in Stuber and Summersett behind a big physical OL. The Flying Jets defense is going to have their hands full to say the least. I'd look for Arnold to take advantage of some size differential between his receivers and the AC defensive backs. As for the Flying Jets offense, not much has changed other than the names. Still a ground and pound Double Wing T offense (splits instead of tight ends though). However, they have thrown in more play action passing that has been very effective this season. Blake Heyerly has been the workhorse on the ground, while Schwaller has hit Neuenschwander, Mosser, and Green to name a few receivers. All of the news crews will be their for this ACAC showdown. It is the Highlight Zone game of the week. (Could be The Score's as well). I'm sure WZBD has it covered for the local radio, and ESPN 1380 is covering it as well. Thinking I may watch the webcast from The Berne Witness as I may not be able to get to the stadium in time for a good seat. The Airstrip in Monroe will be packed as the Starfires & Flying Jets will battle on the Landing Strip at Rich Minnich Field. For a few hours families will be rooting against one another and showing their school colors of either black and yellow or red, white, & gray. My family will be no different as I have a mixture of Flying Jets and Starfires making up the majority of my family. Here's to a great game on Friday and may the best team win!

  22. Monroe Central is a solid team that lost to Adams Central a couple of week ago. South Adams however has been on another level. I look for the Starfires to take that one and set up the big showdown next week against Adams Central (which I favor the Starfires due to the SR&JR class success in the past against the Jets). It'd be nice if the Starfires and Bears met in the sectional finals again. Also be nice if either AC, 'Busco, or Southwood meet in their section finals. The regional between Sectional 43 & 44 champs will be a dandy.
  23. That's how last week was for me so I understand! Looks like just 2 games are going to separate us. Bonecrusher is on his own with Leo and we are split about DeKalb and Columbia City which should be a good matchup.
  24. @gonzoron is the last of the continual pickers yet to pick I believe. Don't want to miss him like I did in two posters in my Ohio ones. Yikes did they get jumpy about that.
  25. I would agree with this as well. It pains this Flying Jet to say it, but Starfires are the team to beat. It sucks because we have had 2 or 3 similar teams recently and ran into Pioneer's dominance. Before that we ran into Sheridan's run. Looks like the Starfires found the right year or two.
