Very true. Should add that Bluffton had a talented middle school team the past couple seasons that are Freshmen this year. I'm sure their baseball run has added some fire to their football team as well.

Hamilton was between them and was the 2023 starter. He carried the team during the 23 semi state game against North Judson. What's crazy is the current junior class has been thought of the weak spot among those before and after them. They've stepped up week 1. Collier was magnificent. The top players from their youth days in that grade are all gone & at other schools like South Adams and one at Northrop that is a big college recruit. He left AC for FW Carroll and then to Northrop if I'm not mistaken. Would have been fun to see if they all stayed at AC. Side note: watch for Bellmont to make some noise in the next few years. I'd say South Adams as well. Bellmont's 8th grade won the NE8 as 7th graders and could repeat. They beat our 8th grade again but it was 2-0 this time. Both teams had great defenses and some flashes on offense & special teams. South Adams 8th grade should be good as they were dominant in 5th & 6th grade. They for whatever reason didn't have a 7th grade team last year (think they played as a mixed 8th & 7th). Be nice if Bellmont was 3A, AC 2A, & South Adams 1A when those kids are seniors if they keep getting better.

We're blessed to have a lot of community buy in. We have great coaches and upperclassmen that set the tone and layout the expectations expected of everyone. That trickles down from Varsity, JV, MS, youth tackle, and youth flag from Seniors to pre-school.

To discuss Girl's Flag Football and Unified Flag Football? I'd vote yes to cover both. Cover as many football athletes as we can!

It seems they have some talented multi sport athletes from it, so it seems some know how to share. Ryker Dengler is a prime example.

Why I like that Iowa makes baseball & softball a "summer" sport and essentially they have 4 seasons.

The wrestlers have to be on the field. When they have been like 2008 & 2009 they are successful. Not blaming anyone for them not being on the field but definitely seems to be a correlation. Last year they had more but were young (Freshmen) in some skill spots. I won't say anything about the other factor that isn't wrestling related that I believe was an issue.

Some rough years to say the least. I think Coach Blaker will turn them around and end the streak. Have solid numbers out this season.

Go South Adams Starfires! Seems odd to say as an AC fan but have some relatives in the Starfires football program.

Go Adams Central Flying Jets! Go Bellmont Braves! Hope to see that streak to come to an end for the Braves. Excited to see how the Jets compete in 3A.

I'd say in D5 to D7 Ohio yes, as Mercer & Auglaize Counties have public schools in Catholic counties. A lot championships won and state championship appearances.

Bellmont wins 3A! Norwell came close to winning 4A! Crazy that Norwell had 740 or so competing with Center Grove with 3,000. Too bad the 4th quarter didn't go the Knights way. Congrats Bellmont & Norwell!

I love my Jets but I think we will struggle the next couple of years. We will have some great seniors and a couple of Juniors but not many proven. The sophomore class has some talent but not much experience either to varsity football. Definitely be a next man up situation. The Sophomores are going to have to hit the weight room and summer workouts as they'll be needed. The Freshmen same as the Sophomores as they'll most likely be needed too. They had a pretty good 8th grade year. Be replacing a good chunk of the lines which is always tough.

I'm hoping you are right. I'm not hopeful the NIL will be handled properly by any of the NFHS members. I really hope the elite move on with NIL and we get the multi sport athletes favored. I would love for the IHSAA to go to 4 sports seasons similar to Iowa. However there must be more moratorium in my opinion.

What would be the point when you can pay & outbid for players to create your teams? Already began in Ohio and will only grow and become a problem. At that point I'm for changing to the European club model and removing athletics from the schools. I enjoy supporting school based athletics, but if the current trend continues, it's on borrowed time.

Who is the favorite now that Norwell is 4A? Does Bellmont make a deep run without the Knights in their way?

Is Luers 4A now with semi state win or do they have to win next week? Believe next year AC plays them for 2 years in the regular season. Think the next couple of years will be difficult for AC. The sophomore class this year is not as strong and haven't been all the way through but have a few studs. The juniors this year will have to carry the load as seniors. This year's freshmen have talent & need to hit the weight room as they'll be needed. It's incredible how they are really starting to understand the game as their first couple years were rough (5-7th). The middle school teams have talent as well.

Speaking of great runs ending, Marion Local was beaten by their neighbors St. Henry tonight.

Congrats Andrean. What a 5 year run by our Flying Jets! 5 semi states, 4 state appearances, 3 runner ups, and 1 championship. Hard to beat that run!

Game Day Eve. Once again the Flying Jets seem to be the underdogs to the powerful Andrean 59ers. They will be gunning for the Jets this time. It will be tough against those D1 guys but I'm hoping for another upset win for the Jets! Let's hope we can get 2 upsets Friday night! Go Flying Jets! Go Starfires! GO ADAMS COUNTY FOOTBALL!
