I think LCC overall is in better shape this year than Andrean for 2a Catholic schools are concerned, youth and roster turnover at Andrean vs loaded experienced team from last year successful team in LCC.   Just throwing some context out there from my seat.  Prior to the draw and even after the draw, felt like LCC was likely to get to Semi State vs Luers.  Just my neanderthal look at things

Speaking of Luers, surprised to see they were in a shootout with a down Busco squad. Could Eastside, Bluffton, Eastbrook, or other upset them?

  2. AC 21 SA 6 at half. AC gets 2nd half kick as SA will he kicking further back with personal foul penalty. Jets running on the Starfires but have been pedestrian. SA hit big play 3rd play of game & punched it in next play. SA not getting anything else really offensively. AC hasn't attempted a pass in the rain, shocking I know. Jets look to be better team but look really conservative.

    Absolutely should be seeded.

I've never understood why Indiana does this. I'm all for an "all-in" tournament but moving on in sectional and playing extra games should be earned.

It happens all too often that a team can have a great regular season only to turn in equipment after the first round because they drew the team they should be playing in the final... Not exactly luck of the draw.

This year there are teams that have only won 1 game getting the bye. That should not happen ever.

Well the commissioner liked that in the interview. Pretty frustrating as that doesn't align with Hoosier values in my opinion. Though my opinion has no weight or value.

I'm not sure how a team who got shut out and lost 24-0 can outplay the team that beat them. They turned it over, which means the ball was taken from Bluffton 3 times and another on downs. I would be highly surprised if Bluffton has focused on AC since week 1. That's a ridiculous statement. Their bigger goal going into the season was Kunkel beating Grant Moser for the first time ever. The next challenge was Heritage, a game that could've gone the Tigers way but didn't. Their players on D are just really good and their staff had a good plan, especially in a bad weather game.

For someone who claims to be "involved" in the program, you sure do have few positive things to say about it.

Not trying to be negative, just honest about the experiences. I have higher expectations than most for our team which isn't always a good thing. I'm probably at the practice fields as much as the high school & middle school coaches without being on staff. I love AC football in the good and bad times (like my senior year) as a second generation Jet raising a 3rd generation Jet! As for last Friday, yes they were good defensively, but how did Heritage have so much success compared to our struggles? Heritage runs an offense similar to Bluffton that their defense sees every day. What I thought telling was Kunkel's interview on the webcast after the game as you could tell he was wanting that one pretty badly. Even on Saturday mornings a couple times before the game he was wanting to get that win. Heck the Saturday after the Southern Wells vs AC game he shook Coach Mosser's hand and said "Let's put on a show Friday" after their youth tackle teams had their way against us. I've been blessed to be "around" the AC program in the youth and spoiled to have been around this senior class (plus the last 2 before them a bit) through current freshmen class. They've had success throughout & this game outside the 2 finals was frustrating to watch since the 21 sectional game vs Busco. Credit to all those teams as Bluffton before turnovers was getting defensive stops and running & throwing successfully on our defense. Credit to our kids for hanging tough & making the plays the needed in that slugfest. 24-0 could have easily been only 3-0 or worse a regular season loss if things worked out for Bluffton. Thankfully they did not and it's time to take care of business. We must get healthy as that has been a factor we cannot ignore.

  5. Next few years, Bluffton may be the team to beat in the ACAC as their middle school & youth teams are really good. Bluffton really outplayed AC last Friday but turned the ball over 3x. I like their offensive scheme compared to the first 2 weeks. Really didn't see much of their Heritage game, but you could tell they've been focusing on AC defensively since week 1. AC could have some down years coming up as the MS & youth tackle teams have struggled. Hopefully they will figure it out when they all play together as they have some individual talents. Though we were thinking similar in the 2020 (J Collier), 2021 (B Heyerly), & 2022 (G Cook) grades back then as well and kids stepped up like A Currie & many others.

They won't fully seed the playoffs because the next logical step is a qualifier. The all-in blind draw keeps the mythical "Cinderella" story alive regardless of how much it screws deserving teams along the way. It's also the IHSAA's only way of justifying unnecessary blowouts in a postseason format.

Say it every year, just COMPROMISE! Seed the top half of each sectional using what ever factors & systems and random draw the rest. Seeded teams host first round and then better seed hosts from there. Regional & semi states be neutral sites. Keep the all in format & no qualifiers.

Hope #78 isn't one of the injuries.  If he is, I hope he can make it back soon!

78 is as he's hardly played all year. 79 has stepped up to lessen the void as well as 2 backups 55 & 63 that have played well beyond what anyone expected. Same as I believe 60 on the OL due to other injuries. OL took a hit as 78 has been out most of the year, 74 in & out a bit injured too, and another SR quit at the scrimmage that was top 3 OL. Others have been in & out with injuries in skill spots but not as long as the linemen.

You might be on the lookout for some guys in maroon at the Landing Strip next week.

Not sure there is any need. Nothing has changed and last night should be a wake up call for everyone. Bluffton looked like the better team and just turned it over too much. Your Saints look like they're even better than last year, while our Jets look the same or slightly below last year due to injuries.

What's stupid about giving Adams Central credit for being a very good team this year? You're feelings are hurt because you can't fathom the idea that this AC team could be competitive or even beat the good LCC teams of the past. I'm not going to retract on my opinion that this is an above average state championship caliber 1A program.

Appreciate the respect! How many have good football & wrestling teams? 😉 Our basketball team should be decent this year again. However we get stuck with Blackhawk Christian in sectional. Pretty close game until we hit a drought. Even then it was close until mid to late 4th.

Yeah... ther is always someone in ur way... either a good program or a lightning in a bottle team... or both at the same time... 1A is a diff animal... the low numbers keep any one program from dominating indefinitely... public or private I think history bears it out... Sheridan,Lcc, Pioneer, Luthern... i dont think Lcc would still be winning 1a titles but can hold ther own in ther 2a Sec... i get the beef against Chatard... but until the ihsaa fine tunes the success factor by say... seeding the entire tournament... programs will bounce down maybe sooner than they would if that were in place... Sec 28 is just ridiculous if u truly want the success factor to operate in a pure fashion.... jmho

Yes, be nice if we could get a playoff victory over any of those 4 at some point regardless of sectional or farther. Doubt we see anyone besides LCC or Lutheran unless Sheridan or Pioneer have success factor. Really want to see the 3 Adams County schools in 3 separate classes having success.

No worries... I respect the AC program... they won a State Title... so they Know what it takes... i've been around since 3 class FB... sooo when someone like BTF puts his credibility on the line making a bonehead statement like 90/80% of 1a Titles would go to this AC squad... its just absurd... the closest thing to that I can remember was when 84? Sheridan fans thout they could win the BiG School Title... 😄  I'm sure their staff knew better... but hey it's alotta fun to speculate!  😊

Only time I'd say AC would have won 2A over 1A is maybe 2017 or 2018. 1A North had better teams than 2A North in 2017. AC beat Woodlan who last in the title in a close one. AC controlled the regular season game and won by 9 that year. Pioneer & Southwood would have probably won it in 2A or made the finals. Doesn't happen often as Luers is usually good as is Eastbrook & 2A Andrean. Andrean & Luers bouncing between 2A & 3A often.

I'll leave you argue with the Sheridan folks about the Zachery years, but I'd say that the four years of LCC four-peat and Pioneer's juggernaut 2018 makes the starting point 90% at the ceiling.

All of them knocked AC out in semi state. My freshman year & Zachery's, Sheridan throttled us in Monroe on their way to 4 appearances & winning 3. Pioneer clobbered AC at the Pit in 97 and then my brother's senior year 2016 they won 22-8 in the cold monsoon. They'd lose to Linton but then get their wins in following years including 2018 over us in Logansport. I believe it was in 99 LCC came to Monroe with a stacked squad and whooped us. LB core was outstanding. They had their run when we were down & then beat us in 2019 at LCC on their way to another title over Lutheran in a barn burner. Now the last 2 years Lutheran has done the same at state to us. If we could have won say a quarter of those, it would have been awesome.

AC will get their shot next yr.... 🤗

We won't be as strong. Should be competitive but maybe a step below where they've been. I like the junior & sophomore classes, but they don't have as much depth as the senior class. The freshman are decent but much more individual wise than full class wise. The 7th & 8th grade classes do not seem to have the same numbers and have struggled. The good thing is we have middle school coaches that will prepare them for high school. Also helps that the MS staff watches our youth & gives advice to players & coaches of 5th & 6th grade. Be curious how the 6th graders do when they are on 1 team instead of being split as they have some talent in spots. Seems what one team is lacking, the other team has and vice versa. We just started flag prek through 4th as parents want to be attached to the program & community.

  14. Just our luck at AC. Once we finally get over the semi state issues outside of the 2000 state title team, we now have a state finals issue. We probably should have beat Lutheran in 2021 but didn't after giving up a 14 point lead. Last year Lutheran was just flat out better. It appears they are much better than last year as well. Add them to the list with Pioneer, LCC, and Sheridan of having our number in the playoffs. Imagine getting bummed up from success factor and never winning it. That could be possible as well as our enrollment growing.

  15. Throw in a game. Huntington North vs Bellmont yesterday. HN won 13-12. 2 programs struggling mightily and the officiating crew as well. Probably more penalty yards total than total yards between the teams in the second half. Watching the webcast, the great announcing duo was frustrated with the crew & teams making mistakes. They were being polite towards the teams & spun it positively at least. Very hard game to watch & not be frustrated with something on each play from either team or the crew. Never saw so many personal fouls consecutively against both teams. Both teams have a lot work to do to get where they want as well. Hopefully they improve!

How do those Western Ohio programs breed those kinds of kids? It is a historical reason? Is it because of the community? Are the youth development programs great? Marion Local could probably be competitive with some of the biggest schools in Ohio.

German Catholic genetics mixed with a strong farming & family oriented background. They are predominantly catholic kids that attend public schools. They do not start football until the 7th grade. They believe that youth football teaches bad fundamentals. I don't disagree, but don't fully agree either. I think if you have the right people to be an extension of the high school & middle school in your youth programs, it could succeed. You have to control "daddy ball" (both definitions) and make sure the kids are executing the same fundamentals & plays the HS/MS do properly.
