So give up Coaching and leading a program because of State-wide standardized testing??? Not sure I "buy" that...in reading the article, it seemed more "localized" than that.

Coaching & teaching go hand in hand for most situations. He sees the writing on the wall of state & federal overreach and it will eventually trickle into the IHSAA & NFHS more than it already has.

Why so vague?? I mean, kuddos for not just giving the "cookie-cutter" resignation speech/interview (i.e. time with family, done all I could, etc..) - but if you're gonna go the route of throwing Administration under the bus, why not be clear in your reasoning??

Not sure it was Eastside's admin but more of state & federal government requirements after I read & thought about it. He isn't wrong when they care about standardized testing to get $ than preparing students for life.

I think neutral site semi-states would need to happen before this could work.  In 2A under this plan, Andrean/Mater Dei could potentially be a semi-state game and either of those teams being able to host should be taken away as a possibility since it involves a 5 hour (one way) bus trip.

This was poorly done by the alignment committee for 2A, then rubber stamped by the IHSAA leadership.  To be fair, I think you would be able to make the same criticism with some of the semi-state matchups that would happen in your alternative plan.  People would wonder why Valpo plays Castle and Whiteland plays Snider.

Difference is those were regional games and not semi states though. That's my point. Those proposed would be with neutral sites for sure.

Didn't feel like one from our sidelines.

Congrats again. Not often do we see our Jets get beat at the line of scrimmage like that. I had a bad feeling the replacement(s) due to injuries in our secondary would get picked on and they did. Sometimes it's good to get humbled like we did. No offense to our players & coaches as I'm proud of all them and glad they're on our team. Just acknowledging that sometimes there is someone who does it better occasionally.

I saw someone post that their middle school teams played an 11 man schedule.

If the schedules were correct, they played some ACAC schools like Adams Central in middle school. Rumor is that once they go 11 man that they will join the ACAC for football at least. Makes sense when thinking about proximity near Woodlan & Heritage but not so much when Jay County & Southern Wells are mentioned. I believe they did fill in a couple of years in the ACAC basketball tournament when Garrett went to NECC.

I didn't notice that he was a freshman.  Isn't he the starting center?  That's now going to be my favorite sub-plot:  his LuHi counterpart (#79 Cam McHaney) is also a freshman on the interior D-line.  A 9th grade battle in the trenches!

Yes I believe he's the starting center as well on offense.

His father was a senior on the 2000 State champion team as well.

Tuesday morning, and this topic is already off the rails.

Here's my viewer's guide for Saturday morning:  If you watch replays on the jumbotron and continually see AC's #78 & #79 in the frame, the Jets are winning.  If you don't see #78 & #79 in the replay, the Saints are winning.  I think it's going to be that simple.

79 is a freshman that doesn't usually start on defense but does come in frequently. I agree though that it's going to come down to AC's D line play as well as their secondary being able to hold up. The big question mark is how successful AC'S offense will be. Will it be like the 1st half last year or the 2nd half when Lutheran started stopping them? We shall see!

I'm not so sure that I'd say Lutheran is better than last year. #10 is a great passer, but when a team loses players like Clay and Pasch I'd have a hard time saying that they are better. I'd also hesitate to say that AC isn't as talented this year. They are just a different team. Idk if I'd say they're "better" or "worse" than last year. They're stronger, bigger and tougher up front, but not as fast in the back end or in the backfield. The matchup may not be as favorable in some ways for the Jets considering the secondary, but I think we match up better with them up front and Black is a much better QB/leader this year vs. last. I'm expecting a very similar game to last year's. It should be another great one. Jets by 7!

Hope you're right! Definitely going to have to put wrinkles in the offense this game or it will be similar to the 2nd half last year. Lutheran did a good job of boxing their ends in the 2nd half and taking control of the momentum.

    2021 Adams Central vs Lutheran

    2022 Adams Central vs Lutheran

    2023 Adams Central vs Lutheran???

    Yawn.

We shall see. Definitely know AC will be 2A in 24 regardless if success factor came into play. Amazing how many students we have gained in the past 5-10 years. Hard to find a house or property to buy anymore that's affordable.

  10. 2016 Semi State hosting Pioneer. Was nice pregame and then the severe thunderstorms hit. Temperature dropped drastically in the rain & wind. It was hard walking down the bleachers with frozen arms & legs. I was hoping LCC would have been the opponent in that weather but instead Kizer & the Panthers began their tear in 1A North.

Yeah, the favorite often seems to come from that Pioneer, Sheridan, LCC semi-state, and often times they've already beaten one of the other named teams on the way, and are battle tested to boot. At one point Seeger was really good and was in that group as well, although that's been a good 15 years. Pioneer kept losing before semi-state due to the combination of the Seeger, LCC, and Sheridan buzzsaw until the Kiser era.

Seeger gave us the worst feeling from a loss in 2003 as well. Up 21-0 @ half and lost 22-21 after settling for a FG that was missed. At the time, the best RB in school history (2 after him could say they are possibly) could have punched it in and sealed the deal for a state trip. Instead it was another semi state loss & that one was heartbreaking.

I was wondering when someone would put a poll out here.  I voted for all in with seeding, but I don't want the entire field seeded.  Seed the top two.  Draw the rest.  In my opinion this option provides the best of both worlds.  It makes the season meaningful, and it gives the poor teams a shot at a favorable draw in the first round.

I'm with you there. I'd like the top 4 in 8 team sectionals seeded & top 2 in 4 teams seeded & random draw the rest in all in. Almost chose the last option as I lean more on schools focusing just on education and using the European model of clubs for sports. With college NIL and programs like IMG, it seems like it's heading that way. Already have club volleyball & baseball to name a few.
