  1. AC

    SA

    Carroll Flora

    Bluffton

Any talk of another team joining the conference? I mean Bellmont would benefit but won't. No benefit for Norwell to do it at all. What about Blackford? Doesn't bring much in competition for the top, but would benefit Jay County and Southern Wells. Probably not looking to leave the CIC though.

Gotta love dads making bold predictions about their sons' teams!  🤩 I was one of those dads back in the day!!  Never ended well for me though.  Ha!  There's a possibility it goes better for Mr. Allen.  That Blue Jays team is pretty good!

His son is a great player for North Judson.

I can't believe the HNAC crowd hasn't been very active in this thread. From what I've seen on the HNAC threads, North Judson is all but a lock to make a trip to LOS. They should probably be #1 in the polls according to the things that I have read.

Full disclosure, I'm fully aware that I'm baiting them into responding, but we need conversation that doesn't have to do with AC and SA. Also, I do think that NJ is very good.

Hopefully NJ and Triton meet in the sectional final. Should be a good one.

The arrogant statement I was referring to was the previous one, not so much anything you posted. Probably didn’t need to go in my reply to you. And absolutely nothing against North Judson, I agree they probably are better on paper than SA because of what was lost. I’m just fighting back on SA not being deserving, because that pissed me off. SA could be ranked third, could be ranked tenth, doesn’t matter to me. It’s being called out for not being deserving, especially someone suggesting it’s only a piggyback off AC.

Also want to note SA still returned 7 on offense and 6 on defense, so it’s not like it’s a clean sweep of new guys. That doesn’t include one guy on each side of the ball with a start or two. And also returning a QB that threw for 1600 yards and 20 touchdowns as a sophomore.

This will probably be the last 2 years AC & SA will be in 1A together in awhile. SA is definitely deserving of being ranked, but probably not quite at 3 but I'd say no lower than 6th. I'm ready for them to be in separate classes and hope they stay so for a long time. I'll have family playing for South Adams in 5 years or so and continue to help AC in youth in a much more limited role than previous due to my stepchildren being at Crestview in Ohio. I'd love to see all 3 Adams County schools in separate classes and hopefully family or friends/neighbors playing at all 3 and they all be highly successful. I dream of an all Adams County Black Friday in Indianapolis (if IHSAA ever follows through with pairing teams in same area on same championship day). Then traveling to a local Ohio turf field for a Saturday state semifinal that Saturday after Michigan whoops Ohio State!

The 25-21 AC win over 2A #6 Eastside was as impressive a win the program has had in awhile, last year’s semistate game at North Judson and sectional matchup against Busco included. Eastside is incredibly physical and jumped to a 14-3 lead in the first half. AC met the physicality and came back despite playing without one of their best and most important players.

I look forward to watching this team progress. If they stay healthy and continue to improve, they’ll be a tough out. Next up is a fun matchup at Taylor U against Covenant Christian.

Great game by both teams. Defense could have used Cook big time. Really impressed by the freshmen making plays when it mattered. One sophomore stepped up as well to help the juniors carry the team. Not to be too critical, but the few seniors are going to have to play better. There has been some sloppiness in games and practice. Curious to see how CC is, but after that they shouldn't be pushed except possibly South Adams because it's a rivalry. This team has what it takes to go back to Indy.

I only saw the replay, but I thought Garrett didn’t look like they knew how to play football. Or at least they gave up pretty early. AC obviously looked good, but I still have no clue how good. The Eastside game will be much more telling.

Yes, the Eastside game will be much more telling for sure. Arcanum looked bad from the few parts I watched. Having their HC and superstar QB transfer to a bigger school really hurt them. They're still probably much better than Bellmont and possibly Bluffton.

I think they only do Bellmont home games since they’re the third option here.

Gotcha, wasn't sure since my boss didn't decide to sponsor this year. Surprising since he's in Berne and is a big SA guy. Thought it might have been more of economics & sponsors for just one webcast tonight for the 3 schools.

Scrimmage looked pretty good, but Central Noble didn't look good at all so it's hard to tell.

Looks like you may have to pay for the Garrett webcast? Berne Witness only has South Adams vs Arcanum tonight. Did they not get enough sponsorship for Bellmont this year?

  9. Leave it as is. I believe Ohio actually starts the same week now but ends 1 week after. I actually prefer that as a Stateliner & family on both sides. Especially if the local programs make it to Thanksgiving weekend & beyond on both sides. If that ever happens, I'd hope the IN schools play Friday, and the OH schools play Saturday night after The Game which Michigan kicks the Bucknuts butts!

  10. Curious to see the Arcanum result. They lost their star QB & coach due to a transfer to a bigger school. I think they could still be a good matchup for South Adams. Of course I think Garrett and AC will be a good game. I hope your prediction is right. Missed the scrimmage against Central Noble. How did that go? I know I've heard some yelling at practice the two days I was around.

Allen County, off the top of my head...

    North Side transfers...noise.

    Carroll QB sickness...sad situation.

    Dwenger, Snider...kings.

    Homestead, Carroll...next in line.

    Wayne 8 defensive starters back.

Nearby...Adams Central, South Adams, Eastside, Marion Local, Coldwater ...fun to watch.

Don't forget to add Norwell with AC, SA, & Eastside on the Indiana side. Glad to see you have Marion Local & Coldwater from Ohio. Might add Van Wert & Versailles as well on the Ohio side.

There isn't one benefit to neutral site games other than the "even playing field" argument.

If you get the privilege to host a sectional/regional/semi-state championship; there is nothing better than having thousands in your community come together to pack the stands and cheer on their team while standing along the fence line and end zones on a cold November night. On the other hand there is also nothing quite like the privilege in going to an opposing teams packed stadium with your faithful fans and bringing home a trophy to ruin their entire year. If neither one of those gets you going then you don't belong near a football field on Friday night.

Also, I understand games get played on Saturday...It happens. Weather postponements, traveling conflicts, field availability, etc. all play a role in it. But to schedule championship games on a Saturday at a neutral site would set Indiana high school football back 20 years.

Not really the even field as much as it is travel time & distances and enticing more neutral fans for $

I don't understand why anyone would possibly think moving playoff football to Saturday would be a good idea. Why would you want to compete against college football? Why would you want to compete against families doing weekend fall activities? why would do you want a championship game being played in the middle of the day? I see highlights of high school football being played in the middle of the day in other states and it just doesn't feel right; doesn't have an atmosphere that draws you in.  Friday nights in the fall are reserved for high school football and everyone knows it. Change for the sake of change isn't a move in the right direction.

I understand the push for neutral site games to "level the playing field" for championships. But in no way would that benefit Indiana high school football long term. Not only would it be a logistical nightmare for schools, officials, concessions, facilities, staffers, PA announcers, etc. it just isn't conducive to a great atmosphere that should be present for big time games.

You would have to have a list of host sites for regional and semi states beforehand. Having neutral sites would allow more Friday nights than some of the current one matchups. A lot of matchups of teams on the Ohio border vs teams on the Illinois border are held on Saturdays already.

Why would I go to a class A game I find no interest in that level of play.  But I do see what you are talking about with size of stuff.  I had a crazy idea while at CG red&white practice.

    1. Seed the teams and the higher seed host all games up to rengionals

    2.  5A and 6A semi-state games are played on Friday at higher seed home field.

    3.  1-4 play on Saturday and the games are held at schools that hosted semi-state for 5 and 6A those school have the size and other things that you would need.

We are completely opposite as I find the 5&6 A games as boring. Indiana has decent D1 talent, but not usually enough on each team. Give me 1 & 2A games all day. Even some 3A & maybe 4A before 5&6A.

That is solid for a 1A program! AC usually floats around that size, but they have around 65 this year with a really small senior class. The trip to LOS must have encouraged some more kids to come out.

How many seniors are there? Thinking around 6 or so unless more came back out. I know that class had a lot drop off from middle school to focus on other sports.

Illinois mandates all playoff games on Saturday between 1 and 7pm unless BOTH teams agree on a switch to Friday to eliminate gamesmanship. *cough MD/Triton Central * cough

I would be ok with Indiana doing the same with regional and SS rounds.

Selfishly I'd love for Indiana to stay on Friday nights if the local Ohio teams are Saturday nights. However if it flips, then I'm good with Saturdays. I'd have to have a way to keep tabs on college football though.
