There isn't a bunch of 1A talk on here like there used to be. @foxbat is on the up and up and @Basementbias is king of Adams county in these parts. Should be an exciting postseason with a lot of good football. Hopefully the dreaded virus doesn't pop up and affect anything.

I'm excited but a bit anxious from the draw as an AC fan. Churubusco is always tough to play, especially at their place. I never count out Southwood as they've had our number lately, if both advance. Then you have SA and your Golden Bears in that sectional. Curious if Wanner will be back for SA if those 2 meet up. He can cause problems if he is. MC vs AC regional would be a tough game as well.

Lovell needs to retire. I gave him a pass last year, supposedly he was recovering from Covid. He's not much better this year. Rakestraw not there to save him.

He's earned the right to hang it up whenever he chooses. He's the voice of Friday Night and I'll listen to him as long as he has left.

I guess it's situational. Let's look at a few hypothetical situations:

Let's say the SAC splits into Big School/Small School divisions based on enrollment (I personally would rather see an East/West split but I think this is more likely). The divisions would be as follows:

    Big Schools                   Small Schools

    Homestead                   Bishop Luers

    Carroll                           Concordia

    Northrop                       Bishop Dwenger

    Snider                           South Side

    Wayne                           North Side

Each team would play all others in their division, as well as two cross division games, and saving Week 9 for Championship Week. That covers 7 weeks of play, leaving 2 weeks open for out of conference play. Lets say, hypothetically, that Snider constructs a schedule that follows as such:

    1. Homestead
    2. Northrop
    3. Bishop Dwenger
    4. Wayne
    5. Carroll
    6. *Open Week*
    7. Penn
    8. North Side
    9. *Championship Week*

Now Snider has an open week between two tough opponents. The optimal thing to do here would be to look for a lower caliber team (albeit one that still provides a enough of a challenge to give the kids coaching and growth opportunities) in the Northeast region to fill that gap and let the starters rest up between two hard games. However, if there are no teams that fit the bill for that week, I personally think it would be better for the Panthers to take a bye-week rather than fill that slot with a team of higher caliber, which would only increase the chance of injury and wear them down going into a trap game against the Legends, potentially spoiling their Week 9 dreams. This bye-week, paired with their game against the Kingsmen and the first round sectionals bye-week, sets up the Panthers for a great post season run.

Now let's look look at a situation to your point where Snider could suffer from this type of scheduling:

    1. Carroll
    2. Homestead
    3. South Side
    4. Wayne
    5. *Open Week*
    6. Concordia
    7. *Open Week*
    8. Northrop
    9. *Championship Week*

Snider has their two biggest divisional opponents in weeks 1 and 2. After that they are really struggling to find anyone to fill the gaps between a 6 week stretch of easy games. No one from the MIC, HCC, or just in the North has an open week that lines up with Snider's schedule. All they can find are low caliber teams, or teams from deep into Southern Indiana, and Ohio and Michigan (which pose their own logistical challenges). Snider is left scrambling and may be left potentially empty handed, playing a 6 week schedule that gives them absolutely nothing to challenge them, setting them up for failure for the SAC crown and the playoffs.

So to answer your question, it depends. If the second situation comes up often enough (more than once every 10 years), then it's not worth it. But I think it is more likely that the first situation will be what we would see. And, as I stated above, I personally think missing a game in that situation wouldn't actually be any different from filling that week with a team like New Haven.

Swap Wayne & Dwenger to benefit both?

  4. We will have the seeding debate and the all in vs Ohio playoff method debate as well. My answers are all in tournament and either seed it all or seed the top 4 teams in 8 team Sectionals and top 2 in 4 team Sectionals with random draw of which non-seeded team they face. Of course that leads to neutral site regional and semi states debate. I like the idea of neutral site, but it's not a deal breaker that they aren't.

Short answer: maybe more discussion on here again!

  5. Takes place in Monroe on Friday. Both teams come in with OOC losses. AC fell to Eastside by 2 in week 2 while SA was beaten by Monroe Central last week. The Jets have looked pretty good since the loss, but 2 of the last 3 wins came from playing rebuilding teams. South Adams has suffered key injuries during the season. I believe AC should win this game, but it's a rivalry. Each team knows the others strengths and weaknesses. I'm excited for a great atmosphere to watch in person. Like many I have family from both sides, but I'm a Jet and that is where my allegiance is this week.

Can you actually stand in front of a mirror and watch yourself say this with a straight face? Do you not see how this stunts the potential of high school football in Indiana?

Being a state line guy, I'll take Indiana's all in over Ohio's system every day. There are bottom feeders in the MAC that never make the playoffs that are better than teams that advance deep in the tournament. Last year Parkway won a playoff game with the all in format  They were really bad, but better than one opponent. Ohio gets it right by seeding it. Heck Ohio is getting closer to an all in with 16 teams making it in all regions. At this point just create an 8th division and go all in.

  7. Best of luck to PH the rest of the way. Wish I could've made it down to see it in person especially since my best friend lives a few miles away. Kudos to both PH & my beloved Jets for scheduling the ranked showdown and testing themselves against different styles. A lot teams won't or aren't able to schedule these type of games.

  8. Paid $6 per ticket online for the SA vs AC game in September. Think you may be able to get tickets at the gate but not sure (watching webcast instead of attending lately). I had to pay a fee as well for the online when/if sold at gate would be less if those are $6 per as well. Hopefully bought tickets or will have tomorrow for an Ohio game on Friday. They offered pre-sale discounts of $4 for student and $5 for adult. However gate price would be $7 for all. It all works out though when the IN webcasts are free but the Ohio ones charge.

For the record, the response from South Adams was outstanding

    Adams Central was OK.

All others were very low response (Carroll/Snider/Leo/Angola)

I know there have been many accounts on here from when I played (viewing the forum) that are no longer posting. A few were hanging around in 2016 during my brother's senior year (while I've been posting) that aren't posting anymore. Very few of us "younger" folks it seems are on here.

I have a few thoughts on this poll that I would like to share. The first thing that comes to mind is that Parke Heritage is much better than #6 in 1A. With the fire power they return, plus a slew of transfers from Terre Haute and Brazil, the Wolfs should be ranked #1 or better. Coach Brian Moore, one of three hall of fame coaches in the WRC, is set up for one last championship run before he rides off into the sunset. I got to see them a couple of times this summer, and Coach Moore has that old gleam back in his eye and spring in his step.

The second thing that comes to mind is who are the simple fools that voted for North Vermillion? 3 votes coming off of a 1-9 season in which they struggled to stay competitive? It makes a person wonder if the people who voted in this poll did any background research.

Glad we play them week 3 to help us come playoff time.

Ok then, we got that out of the way.  Anything positive from this interview?

Still waiting for the other answer to be scrutinized. As an AC fan, former player, and someone semi involved with the youth of the program, I hope for a deep playoff run. The playoff thorns are stuck in 2A right now. We have to get through a solid sectional and if that happens, probably play either a tough SA or a tough MC team at regionals. The question will be who the new semi state thorn could be if they get there. My fear is that we will move to 2A when we will have some talent coming up. That talent would be great in 1A, but would a really tough road in 2A with Luers, Pioneer, LCC, and Eastbrook to name a few residing their currently. Pioneer and LCC could move back down, but if not then it will be really tough.
