So Luers could beat some college teams, yet couldn't beat East Noble, New Haven, or Homestead. Makes sense. If you truly believe that I have some ocean front property to sell you in Kansas.
It was a woman that said that. She was referring to Luers teams of the past. Probably those Jaylon Smith led teams.

Keep an eye on IU, sounding like Sean Lewis may be a serious candidate to be IU's next head coach.
That doesn't sound too promising.

I may be wrong...I was told multiple years, but my source could have been mistaken.
At Center Grove in 2024. Host Center Grove in 2025. Replace them and renew with Warren Central in 2026.

Don’t sleep on Franklin central they’ve been getting better every year and my golfing bud keeps saying how they would destroy any team in the region
The team that's 20-42 over the last 6 seasons? I get it, they have a tough schedule, but "destroy?" They'd lose to Crown Point. I don't see them beating Merrillville or Valpo by much more than a touchdown.

I would like to see a bit more of a shake up in 6A north, swapping north teams for other north teams, just to make the field a little more competitive.
Snider helps, but add Valpo and Harrison could make things a little more interesting in the region. But, that wont happen.
Agree, but I'm not going to fault programs like Merrillville and Valpo for staying down in 5A. It will be their only chance at a state title. Class 6A isn't a level playing field. In fact, it's lopsided as hell. It's no coincidence that three 6A's four state champions are by far the largest enrollment schools in the state. To be fair, "by far" doesn't apply to Warren Central. But the gap between Carmel, Ben Davis and everyone else is an entire school's student body. If you're not in the top twenty in enrollment, you don't have a prayer at that level.
-
Nineteen students separate the smallest three schools...............Northrop, Warsaw, and Jeffersonville. The gap between Jeffersonville and Arsenal Tech is 23 students. Then comes Lafayette Jeff, but they'd have to lose about 75 students. Using these classifications, Snider bumps up, Northrop bumps down. Harrison, Valpo, and Chesterton are the most likely to shift in population enough to bet a bump up. Of course the forementioned schools would have to lose population. For now I think we just roll with Snider and Northrop switching spots.

With Snider moving up to 6A, I would love to see Northrop take Snider’s spot in 5A and Snider take Northrop’s spot in 6A. If that is the case, it would be Snider, Homestead, HSE, and Fishers. Pretty good sectional in my opinion
If you look at this program historically, I don't see Homestead being average for long. Unless something else is going on over there, I'm sure there's a run on talent coming.
-
Harrison bumping up? That's three. Jefferson, Warsaw, and Northrop coming down? I was going to take a stab at this, but not now. Too many unknowns.

So anyone wanna take a stab at the sectional alignment for 2024?
Would be easier if we knew whether or not Valpo is bumping up or down. So there will be one or two teams coming down. Do we know who those teams will be?

I took NorthWood +27.5…
Not sure what I would have done there. I went into that game glass half full, hoping for a good contest.

Colorado got a commitment from one the top QB’s in the country a few weeks ago. From Werner robbins georgia. Not sure if that played into it as well
I'm willing to bet that it did. Football can be cruel. A high school quarterback could head into college as the "golden boy", the resurrection of a program. Unfortunately, there's three other quarterbacks at the same school with the same lofty expectations of their own careers. Case in point.............Tyler Buchner. Had he chosen to go to Indiana he could very well be an NFL prospect. It's also about development. In some cases, a quarterback comes out of college worse than what he was in high school. Massive decision for a kid.

I do know next year is a lock with Carroll and CG. I’ve heard that it will only for one year though.
I'm pretty sure Carroll hosts CG in 2025.

Host Hamilton Southeastern Week 1. At Center Grove Week 2

Lots of respect for the Chargers for scheduling that one.

Snider returns at least four key guys (very good players) on defense, so they should be strong on that side of the ball. I think the big thing for the Panthers is this years senior class. They set an example for the younger guys, a very talented junior class, to follow. This years class worked hard in the offseason, not wanting a repeat of the 2022 semi-state. This class knows they'll have to work just as hard as this year's seniors if they want to make any noise in 6A. You can be good and still bow out in the sectionals at that level. They should be very balanced next season on the offensive side with a first year starter at quarterback who can sling it. One thing is for sure, the anomaly we saw in 2020 seems to be long forgotten. Snider's not about to succumb to the fast growing suburban areas anytime soon.
Carroll will probably have something to say about that. Jimmy Sullivan returns for his senior season at quarterback. He already sports offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, and a slew of MAC programs. It appears that Dinan has this program in the reloading stage.

Don't you remember how this works? HSE and Westfield were "worn out by the grind of a grueling HCC schedule" which ended up in their demise...
Ben Davis on the other hand, benefitted from a tough schedule in the tournament.
No, seriously though. Russ Mann's squad just eliminated four future hall of fame coaches in 5 weeks. That is insane.
They earned it for sure. No one can accuse them of getting there through a soft path. Congratulations to them and their national ranking. Why do they always look better in the friendly confines of an indoor stadium? Speed kills in that environment. I was optimistic for the north, but the game was pretty much over before it even started.

I think Snider and Valpo are those two schools that can punch up.
If Valpo can stay healthy, they can make Sectional 1 and 2 nervous if not win one or the other any given year.
Snider will give sectionals 3 and 4 a huge test.
Right now there's indications that Snider will be pretty good next year. Good enough to make a run to Lucas? To be determined.

I would take an annual beating from Center Grove to see if we are making any improvement as a program.
The recent engagement with Cathedral couldn't have come at a worse time, most of it was played when Penn was uncharacteristically noncompetitive. Before everyone jumps me. Penn did not perform against Cathedral. I think that game may have been an outlier based on how Penn ended up the rest of the season. I am not saying Penn wins, but give it a do over....they play better.
And they will, so take a deep breath. Penn is a good football team. I know this because they are widely discussed on this forum. Congrats on a fine year.

Stop being so biased towards Indy teams.
They’ve only won 23 straight state titles in the state’s largest class…
We will once again hear in 2024 “not to sleep” on a Fort Wayne/Region area school only to have them lose by 4 touchdowns if they make it to Thanksgiving weekend.
Controversial mood?
All we here about all year long is how good Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield are. But somehow Carroll and Crown Point still stink. Lol, I'm glad this season is over. Time to move on.

East Central fans are no more vocal than any other small town football fans. We're they more vocal on Saturday? Probably. Fans usually are more vocal when you're trying to make school history. I would also say the young man from Northwood who kept taunting the sidelines probably fanned that flame a little bit more.
I thought Northwood came out on fire with emotions running high and those emotions tired them out a little quicker than normal. Playing against East Centrals multi set offense is mentally demanding on the defense. East Centrals linebackers shutting down the QB running game was a big difference IMO.
I know there was some talk from some that Northwood would be able to slow down East Centrals running game. When you watch this offense on film it may seem like you potentially can. However, once you face it in a game you quickly realize how tough it is to slow Ringer, Brother, Maxwell, Minges and Burton down. IMO Northwood pushed EC more than the score indicates. Congrats on a hell of a year.
One last thing on EC.. This team scored 740 points and only allowed 97.. That's something that we may never see again at EC.
Contrats to your team. Impressive team, program, and fan base. Good luck in 5A next season.

I believe overall that 5A will be deeper in 2024. Hopefully, some new teams step up to the plate and create some better competition
If Valpo's enrollment pushes them up to 6A as some are predicting, it could look like the Merrillville/Mishawaka show. The south certainly strengthens with the addition of East Central.

"Backing out," after already committing? I can't imagine that's the case. If it is, I'm sure there's a legitimate reason.
