It depends on what your definition of an upgrade is. Maybe for the casual fan at Warren Central, an upgrade is playing a good program they've never played or haven't played since 2004. Playing the same teams year in and year out gets stagnant. Just the fact that Warren decided to add Snider and Homestead speaks volumes for those two programs.

Wow, lots of factors to think about here. Success means different things to different people. I could right a book on this topic. Anytime a kid can come away from a season learning a few life lessons along the way is a success in my opinion. And that mostly falls on the coaching staff. Teaching kids how to deal with both wins and losses. Teaching kids how to deal with adversity. Kids learning sportsmanship in both victory and defeat. It's hard for me to consider an undefeated team a success if I don't know the first thing about the foundation of the program. The same can be said for a winless team. You could start by looking at what programs give the most back to their communities.

Warsaw in the SAC would be a good fit.

Hartley and Whitmer defeated Luers by a wider margin than Snider did in three of those four games. Coldwater is a small school, but I bet they would give Snider, Homestead, and Carroll a run for their money much the same that Luers does. Chatard is on a level playing field with those teams most years and even better on occasion. I'm not sure losing to Snider by 30 points (average margin of victory last 6 meetings) prepares Luers any more than a more competitive game against 4a program like Leo or East Noble. Maybe it does, but I doubt it. I completely understand your point of view and even sympathize with it. But at the end of the day, Luers will be just fine and will benefit from seeing different opponents during the regular season. I don't think seeing the same 9 teams year in and year out does any program any good.

Snider, Carroll, and Homestead, will all vie for the opportunity to get a crack at Luers. I imagine some years they'll play two of those schools and and some years one. Who would help Luers? The beauty for Luers is that they are a 2a school. Any strong 3a program and above will be more than anything they'll face in the 2a tournament. I think there are plenty high level 3a programs that would be willing to schedule them. I can't think of one 4a program who would turn them down. Even a few 5a programs would take a crack at them. We found out how Hartley and Whitmer measure up to SAC schools. I bet they would rumble with Luers again. Coldwater is just across the board and is probably the best small program in the state of Ohio..........I would head out to Luers to see that one. Might even drive to Coldwater. Leo, East Noble, LCC, and Chatard just to name a few. Opportunities abound for the Knights.

I think a showdown between the big cats would be good for both programs.

Good for Coach Dinan. Hopefully that 'go big or go home' mentality will help continue to grow his football program. I love the one two punch of a very good program from the HHC and the 'best of the best' in the WC/CG matchups. Weeks 1 & 2 will more than prepare the Chargers for when they meet up with Dwenger, Snider, & Homestead. It should also be good for attendance. The big question for Carroll. Do they continue the their momentum from 2020 & 2021? Or do they slide back to the middle of the pack? The latter has been the norm since they joined the SAC. It's hard to believe Dinan is heading into his 13th year. I like the direction they are heading in. They continue to gain in enrollment and have invested a lot of money in their facilities.

And a 42 million dollar youth sports complex just south of the city, similar to the one in Westfield. Looks like Dekalb County is making a MAJOR move toward improving their sports programs.

Good for Carroll. HSE, Merrillville, and Fishers all provide a competitive matchup with programs of equal caliber, but from different areas of the state. I'd love to see them land one of those schools along with either GC or Warren. The latter two schools give the Chargers an opportunity to see size and speed not likely to be seen from their SAC counterparts.

Maybe the reason Tom Crean is such a d!@#h$%^ is that he's trying to hard to be like Jim.

Carmel 5600..................maybe they should consider the Crossroads League.

I like the idea of Noblesville joining Homestead, Carroll, and Northrop. It gives the SAC a taste of of the HCC before the regional round. Plus, from a fan's perspective, who wouldn't want to see the SAC vs HCC in round one?

For the SAC it would have to be Carroll. They have a student body of 2500 and continues the grow as the fastest growing area of Fort Wayne. Throw in the new 8 million dollar stadium and it starts to become a no brainer. It probably doesn't matter though. On the surface, Coach Dinan appears to be passionate enough to stick around for awhile.

It looks like over the last decade they were about equal five years and EN the better team five years. East Noble is the better program it appears. For Warsaw, Chesterton is a step down. I'd like to hear thoughts from someone closer to the Duneland conference. HHF maybe. I think some Snider fans are wondering why they would schedule a program that would rank 5th or 6th in the SAC most years. That's not an attack on East Noble and it's a fair question. Snider, Dwenger, Homestead, Carroll, and Luers are pretty good programs. Personally, I like the idea of playing East Noble as long as they pick up a 6a team or a strong 5a team as their other opponent. Another 4a program or a low 5a program would make this all for naught. If that were to happen, it certainly wouldn't be by design. Probably more of an indication that scheduling isn't as easy as we were hoping it would be. I have the upmost respect for what Amstutz has done with EN's program. I see the Knights as a team that will, at the minimum, maintain it's level of play or become widely considered one of the Top 5 programs in 4a.
