USA Today Network media poll Week 2
BTF replied to crimsonace1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Nope, then they'll be too tired and worn down and lose at semi state. And lost to some pretty good teams by less than a touchdown. -
USA Today Network media poll Week 2

I thought this forum came to the conclusion that playing a tough schedule is the key ingredient to deep runs in 6A? Damn, we've been debating this for years now. Now an Indy team loses and it's because the northern team was well rested.......lol. Now I've heard it all. -

So a win over Avon isn't a good win? Let's not pretend that Avon is some kind of chump. -

You guys are exhausting. Fun, but exhausting. Didn't FootballKing say they played "nobody" for three months? What was incorrect about my statement. -

Ok, so they played nobody then beat Westfield. Not a good look for Westfield that they lost to a team that was prepared by "nobody." -

Three hours now? First it was 2.5 hours. Does Westfield check googlemaps and always take the longest route? Two hours nine minutes. -

Remind me of those practical reasons. Having a higher Sagarin Rating doesn't qualify. Crown Point had a heck of a year from beginning to end. You Indy guys act like it was some sort of fluke that they were there. Let's face it, Crown Point, Carroll, and Snider.........now Jeff, have posted some pretty good wins over Indy. It's not the end of the world. Or is it? -

If memory serves me correctly, the Rocks went down big early and spent the rest of the game playing catch up. So yeah, at the start of the game, Westfield probably felt like they got hit by a truck. It's ok for the north to win once in awhile. Not sure why everyone is so upset by this victory. -
Can't say I disagree with any of that.

USA Today Network media poll Week 2

Honestly, I'll have to defer to someone who was at the game. I didn't see either team in person last year. Hard to gage from watching on TV or the internet. I am curious though why Westfield suddenly decided to have an "off night" when it mattered the most. I guess it's possible that they were expecting a "break" and just weren't ready for the truck that was about to run over them. -
I've got to hand it to Dwenger for going with the "go big or go home" concept. But this isn't the same Dwenger program from a few years back. I agree that they need to ditch Brownsburg and Moeller. Getting blasted by those teams at the beginning of the season can't be good physically or emotionally.

Can I call a friend? I wasn't at the game last year. Sagarin is just for fun. Although I do think it's fairly accurate, there too many flaws with his ranking to use that as a gage for your question. Had to fact check that one. Googlemaps says 2 hours 9 minutes. Either way, I think you're going to lose that argument. We've been discussing this for a few years now. I was wrong at one time, I admit that now. The drive is hardly a factor. -

I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong, and that was a debate that I ultimately lost. Now, if an Evansville team had to travel up to Fort Wayne, that might make a difference. But none of this two hour stuff. -
USA Today Network media poll Week 2
BTF replied to crimsonace1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Oh yeah, back to that. I think the consensus is that the stronger the schedule the better the team. So Crown Point "resting" in the regular season probably isn't a good argument. There was also a pretty entailed study a few years ago that showed that a two hour drive has a very minimal impact on the outcome of a game. I used to think it made a big difference. Now I don't think it makes much of one at all. -

I honestly don't remember saying that, but I trust you. I mean, they did go 1-0 against the HCC and that happened to be the HCC's second best team. -

First tell me why you think Westfield had an off night. I'll tell you right now, Snider almost losing to Mishawaka had nothing to do with lack of effort. I also brought something else up that I haven't mentioned in the past. Let's just say that HSE had a major disadvantage against Carroll that I think may have affected the outcome. -

Lol, figured I'd touch a nerve there. Snider's a small version of Ben Davis, they'll thrive in perfect conditions. Same with Merrillville. If the Pirates make it to Indy, watch out. -
USA Today Network media poll Week 2

At the semi-state level, it's hard to sell me on the "that night" argument............unless there was a snow or rain storm. Normally at that level teams put their best foot forward knowing a weekend in downtown Indy is right around the corner. Valpo was better than Snider or Carroll was better than HSE "that night" could apply considering the weather conditions. But if I recall, semi-state last year was played under pretty decent weather conditions? Crown Point had the Rocks playing catch up the entire night. -

You don't think Crown Point is more like Brownsburg, Cathedral, or Center Grove? Ben Davis and all their speed burners are a nightmare in the perfect environment. Get them out in a snowstorm, real man's football, and it's a different story. -
Moeller at Dwenger - Never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to feel sorry for the Saints. Not sure what's happening. Moeller by 42 Carroll at Center Grove - Not sure what to make of either team right now. Gotta roll with the gem of Central Indiana. Trojans by 21 Concordia at Eastbrook - It's hard not to be impressed with Concordia's win last week. Cadets by 10 Northop at Huntington North - Game of the week in my opinion. Great opening weeks for both teams. Bruins by 7 Luers at New Haven - Luers is Luers and this isn't the Bulldogs of last year. Knights by 28 St. Joe at South Side - Won't be the blowout it was last year. St. Joe by 10 Lawrence North at North Side - Good start for the Legends, but LN is a different beast. Lawrence North by 21 Noblesville at Homestead - Spartans need to quit scheduling Indy teams. Millers by 21 Riley at Wayne - Wasn't impressed with Wayne at all last week. Not going to count them out after one game though. Generals by 1 East Noble at Snider - East Noble's defensive line will be a breath of fresh air for the young Snider offense. Panthers by 17

Yeah, all I'm hearing is "would" when we really don't know anything at all. Two things come to mind for me: 1. Central Indiana historically dominates 6A 2. Craig Buzea has only been at CP for three years and got better each year. -

Based on what exactly? I have a hard time accepting "my belief." What's different about them this year that makes them lessor than the team that beat Westfield last year? What was it about that night? -

Warren Central at Snider (Wayne High School)
BTF replied to BTF's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
During the game, the passing didn't seem awful during real time using the eye test. There's a lot of pressure when you have new QB and four new linemen, three of which are underclassmen, trying to compete against four D1 linemen. Snider was able to complete some short passes, seemed like more than five. The deep ball to the five yard line was a great pass and almost a great catch. Kudos to the DB for knocking it away after the WR seemingly had it. I still maintain that Snider lost a TD opportunity in the first quarter due to a holding penalty. So 56 could have easily been 126. We could do this all day, but ready to move on from this game. So again, Contrats to Warren Central on their tight win that wasn't decided until the 4th quarter.
