  1. Are you sure you don't use "children" in a condescending way? Be honest.
  2. Dwenger @ Brownsburg - I really don't see how this one is close unless Brownburg falls asleep and Dwenger plays the game of their lives. Bulldogs by 35 North Side @ Northridge - Legends bounce back like a yoyo this year and do what everyone expected them to do last year, beat Northridge. Legends by 7 Wayne @ Crispus Attucks - No chance for the Tigers...........unless Wayne falls asleep on the bus ride there. Generals by 28 HSE @ Carroll - The last two game were very competitive, expect this one to be no different. Winner takes a leap toward the top of 6A. Gimmie the Chargers at home. Carroll by 3 Homestead @ Carmel - Not convinced yet that this will be a great year for Homestead. Both teams have something to prove to their naysayers, but I like the Greyhounds in this one. Carmel by 14 Scecina @ Concordia - The Cadets are up-trending while the Crusaders are down-trending. This game will be closer than last year. Crusaders by 7 Leo @ Luers - Both programs will be solid this year, it's a pick'em game for me. But I think the Miami commit will be the difference maker. Lions by 7 Marion @ South Side - This is another pick'em game. I need to see something from South to start picking them though. Giants by 7 Northrop @ New Haven - Same as above, pick'em. Northrop hasn't shown me anything. New Haven downtrends this year. I think the Bulldogs program is a little more solid though. New Haven by 7 Warren Central @ Snider - Snider's difficult to beat when they have extra time to prepare. Both teams return some dudes and Warren scored big in the transfer portal. This years game will be close, another pick'em, but I'll take the home team. Panthers by 3
  3. Just a reminder, many of these "children" are 18 year adults. The meaning of CHILD is a young person especially between infancy and puberty. High schoolers don't qualify.
  4. I think anyone who mocked you lacks common sense. Socioeconomic factors are significant, as Muda's article suggests. Debates are pretty simple when you know your right.
  5. Let's take the word "privilege" out of our vocabulary and replace it with "hard work." Every parent has the opportunity to do what's best for their kids regardless of income. Where there's a will, there's a way.
  6. 1998: Homestead 27, Carmel 3 Carmel was actually pretty good that year. They had three prior losses, each by 3pts. Homestead was their fourth loss. Homestead beat a VERY good Snider team that year before getting wasted 35-14 by Rex Grossman led Bloomington South. That score shocked me, I thought the Spartans were going to take it.
  7. Correction: While Carroll hosts Hamilton Southeastern on the north end of town, Snider will be hosting Warren Central on the south end at WAYNE HIGH SCHOOL.
  8. To be clear, the transfer was a Snider kid who just took a year of absence?
  9. Wasn't there, so I can't answer that.
  10. Looks pretty good. I think when it's all said and done with, Luers will be a Top 10 team. Adams Central might be a bit low as well. Time will tell.
  11. Warren could win this one half asleep, they'd be better served by preparing for that Warsaw offense a week early.
  12. Yeah, not sure how Snider's little guys will compete. Let's just hope they come out in one piece.
  13. My pleasure.
  14. Whether it's 45-13 or 41-13, I'd be thrilled with that score after the way Brownsburg manhandled Dwenger last season.
  15. If Warren torches Snider with 38 points, they'll win state.
  16. With down years in 2019 & 2020, and premature dismissals in 2021 & 2022, I don't think anyone really felt like Snider was on par with some of the teams they had in the past. Then one of the best 6A programs comes to town and the question became "how close can they keep it." Snider's offensive line does concern me with the jump to 6A. I think at that level you have to be very good, and big, in the trenches to advance. Not saying they can't, after all, they have one of the best offensive line coaches there is. It's Snider's defense that could take them along way. I'd be surprised if Warren's offense scores very much. I think it will be a low scoring game. Whoever is most opportunistic on turnovers and special teams will win this game. I don't see a blowout in either direction.
  17. The result would be another dogfight to the end, could go either way like it did in Week 2. Most teams improve as the season progresses, not just some. Losing to Warsaw was not indicative as to how good Carroll was. They played HSE even up with the exception of two pick 6's that went for TD's. The Snider game could have went in their direction as well.............two pick 6's for the win was the difference. Had Snider lost to Mishawaka last year, they more than likely wouldn't be in anyone's Top 15 this season. One game changes everything. Snider 2004 with a healthy Quale Lewis was one of the best teams I've ever seen. An injury in Week 9, now they aren't even on the radar for one of the state's best all time teams. No one will remember Brownsburg last year other than Brownsburg fans and a few people like us who REALLY know high school football. Homestead 2002? Forget it, no one will remember.
  18. I don't think Carroll should be judged by their loss to Warsaw last year. Nor would I judge WC on their three touchdown loss to open the season. Where would Snider be in your ranking if they didn't make a 45 yard field goal in the closing seconds to beat Mishawaka last year? Ben Davis last year will be regarded as one of the better teams this state has ever seen. Yet, they played three playoff games that could have easily went in the other direction. I've learned along time ago not to judge a team based on one game alone. No one will ever remember Warsaw in 2001. Fort Wayne boasts 23 state championships, but it's widely accepted in these parts that the best team ever didn't even win the whole thing. One game, one injury, one mistake................legacy diminished. That being said, everyone has their own criteria for preseason rankings. Personally? 1. How good was a team last year. 2. How many starters return. 3. How proven is the coaching staff. Trending up, down, or sideways? 4. And now, unfortunately, who transferred where. As always, great poll, you put the time in. Carroll is #10. Compliment out of Fort Wayne accepted.
  19. 121, 81, 42, & 23
  20. I think he's made his stance pretty clear. He believes in working your way up the ladder. Nothing wrong with that.
  21. Clarity coming in seven days.
  22. Hard to pick a game to be honest. Four of the Top 10 teams playing within 4 miles of one another.
