Been saying that for years. One of the best tournament rivalries in the state for two decades. These programs respect one another. I can't imagine these teams haven't reached out to one another, it's probably just not feasible. In a perfect world, Snider would replace East Noble for Penn and Warsaw for Warren Central or a Northern Indy program...........Noblesville, HSE, Fishers, Westfield, or Carmel. No offense to Warsaw, I just think their schedule needs an Indy flavor..........and after playing Mishawaka for two years, I utterly hate the thought of facing that offense.

National Pre-Season Top 100

Interesting that you note Zionsville but not Crown Point or Carroll. That screams Indy bias to be honest. Not being combative, just an observation. Or maybe you just don't know enough about the northern teams? -
I agree, #12 isn't a backtrack at all. In fact, anything in the Top 15 is a major compliment. Fishers had a couple of rough seasons in Funk's first two years, I don't see them backtracking to that level is what I meant.
-
They've been pretty stout the last couple of seasons. Curt Funk appears to be a pretty good coach? Not sure why they would backtrack.
-
Fishers at 12. Must be a really talented Top 10.
-
Nah, gotta agree with Bobref on this one. Harbaugh had a pretty successful run in the NFL. As a Steelers fan, I'd be thrilled Tomlin could lead Pittsburgh to three straight AFC title appearances. It'll never happen, he's average at best. Likable guy, but average football coach at a way 'above average football' organization.

National Pre-Season Top 100

So you don't see any changes at the top in Indiana this year? Presuming all three of these teams have a decent amount of players returning? -
Elaborate on this if you would. I'm not in favor of transferring at the high school level, but this guy makes a good point. Let's say a kid joins a football program as a freshmen and feels that he may have potential to play at the next level. The current coach is a good guy, loves the kids, and has a strong commitment to the program. As a junior, a new guy takes over. This guy is either one of two things. One: He's ego driven and doesn't really care about the kids. It shows and has a difficult time relating to the current players. Two: Nice guy, but isn't committed making the program better, just going through the motions. Far different from the coach this kid had his first two seasons. In either case, should the kid have an opportunity to choose another school? I think he does. But if we open pandora's box, it's going to get out of hand. My vote would still be "no." Unfortunate for the kids that do have a legitimate case to move on. The last thing we need is for a coach who has to deal with several kids leaving in one season. Not sure many coaches would want to work under those conditions. I guess I'm asking your opinion as to why it's "cringe worthy." Those are powerful words.

I thought this guy was kind of a clown too in the first five minutes of his very first press conference. Seemed awfully arrogant for a guy who's never coached a Power 5 school before. But he's growing on me. He has a confidence about him that doesn't seem artificial. And he learned from "the best." His press conferences are a little different than that of UCLA's. Stay tuned.

Yeah, I didn't think the "money money money" song on the PA was in good taste when they had the game in hand in the fourth quarter.

2024 Election - Biden vs Trump - The rematch

I guess we'll see if Harris will agree to debate in front of an arena full of people. She's a complete airhead, so I doubt she'll agree to that term. Doing something like this in front of an audience is pretty intimidating for someone of her low level intelligence. Love how fake news media is touting Trump as "terrified" to debate this dim-witted woman. -
"I'd bet" on Snider beating anyone not named Ben Davis, Brownsburg, or Center Grove last year. That's how good I think their defense was. I'm not "so sure" they would have beaten a Cathedral, Fishers, HME, Noblesville, Westfield, Crown Point, or Penn. Those were all very good teams. My final ranking had Snider at #4 last year, just my opinion. Strongest program? They certainly aren't a stronger program than Luers. Probably right there with Dwenger in the Saints current state of affairs. I would say because of resources they are Fort Wayne's 3rd strongest team. Program? No. I'll defer to Penn folks on this one. I think they had a very good team last year. Just perplexed when I see them lose to Indy teams by big numbers. I get it, Indy teams are good. But they manhandled Valpo and Mishawaka last year and almost beat Crown Point. Just scratching my head at the Cathedral score is all. Good research on this. Snider's 39-31 loss to Cathedral in 2011 was in part due to several (5-6) starters sitting out that game for various reasons. Cathedral was very good and had Snider playing catchup the whole game, but I think the missing players could have made a difference in the outcome. Carmel was fortunate to beat Snider in 2018. Arguably Snider's worst self destructed collapse in program history. They were a 'roughing the punter' away from blowing Carmel out before the collapse began. Three of their last four losses against the Greyhounds were by three points or less. Two other losses came in overtime. The record is deceiving, that's been a pretty even series. Last ten years vs Indy: Snider 33, Decatur Central 6 Snider 42, Warren Central 20 Carmel 20, Snider 6 Carmel 22, Snider 21 Westfield 23, Snider 17 Snider 64, New Pal 61 Snider 32, Westfield 24 Snider's had their asses handed to them on a few occasions prior to the past ten years, I'm not saying they didn't. But overall, they're pretty solid against Indy. I like Penn and have nothing against Homestead. I'm one of their biggest fans when they play Indy schools.
-
Last year's pre-season interviews. Reporter: What are your goals? Homestead: Win the SAC Snider: Win state Massive difference in mentality.
-
I get that changes needed to be made within their program. But explain why they seem to be successful against programs who have much less issues with Indy than they do, but yet anytime they play an Indy school, it's not even competitive. Mental is a big part of the game. No one can convince me that Homestead doesn't have a mental road block when they play Indy schools. They were embarrassed last year by Noblesville and Fishers, two teams I'd bet Snider would have beaten last year. Yet the Spartan's have beaten Snider 4 of their last 6 meetings, *including last season* They utterly TANK, like Penn, when Indy comes to town. Are they getting beat by better teams? Sure. But these embarrassing scores every single year? We can agree to disagree, but I won't change my position on Homestead's mental road block. Their goal seems to be to win the SAC at the beginning of the season, whereas Snider's goal is to win state. There's a difference in mentality there.
-
Anyone who believes that has rocks for brains.
-
Penn had a good football team last year, no doubt. They beat a team handily that were within 5 points of beating both Merrillville and Crown Point. Beat another team by 21 points that had Snider down to the last second. Wasted the team that wasted Carroll. Lost by a point to a team that controlled Westfield for an entire game and ultimately beat them in overtime. But they suffer the same problem Homestead suffers. When they play Indy teams, they lay a massive leg. Is it a mindset at this point? Damn, Penn wasn't even competitive against Cathedral.
-
Nope, that was the only one that stood out to me. Not saying you're wrong. Like I originally stated, 1-4 is a crapshoot.
-
Why Crown Point at #4?
-
I think your Top 4 could fall in any order. Next three are a crapshoot, as are the following three. Not sure I could create a better poll than that though. I'd probably stick Homestead at #8 and drop Elkhart out.
