I agree with this thinking. I hate the "Vegas would favor this 9-3 SEC team H2H vs an 11-1 or 12-0 other conference team" arguments. There should be some recognition for actually winning games and not hypothetical ones on paper.

This is fascinating work. It spent more time in Ft Wayne than I would have guessed. Do you know who else has won the state title while holding/winning the trophy? Seems like Cathedral has several times. I think during the Ft Wayne "exile" time, only Concordia (2016), Dwenger (2018), and Luers (2023) won the title while holding the trophy. I could be off though.

Is LaVille really that bad? I know absolutely nothing about them. I remember MD's last non-conference game vs Whiting that was a blowout as well.

Not to hijack the thread - but both the Lincoln (over TH South) and Riverton Parke over Linton results were shockers to me as well.

Last Friday had some surprises with Small School Division teams winning 3 matchups against Big Schools. Throw in North Daviess handling Washington. Forest Park, Tecumseh, and North Posey over Mt Vernon, Princeton, and Southridge. Just one week. But maybe something to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

Scrimmages seem to be on tonight - just later start times. Is Bosse scrimmaging anyone?

General question - when coaches say "travel sports" - do they really just mean baseball? IHSAA baseball is done for the most part by Memorial day, or the Saturday after. As of June 1, the HS coaches don't coach their players. To me, a HS basketball player going to another HS or college for a one day shootout or scrimmages is a different thing than a baseball player going to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Orlando, etc. with the 16u Sledgehammers National Select Elite Gold.

That was my thought as well. A “Top 25” for a class of 32 schools seems a bit like overkill.

I know I’m ranting into the void - but earlier this week I heard questioning ‘Why don’t they move all non conference games to week 1 and be done with it?’ It won’t work with an odd number. Not sure how people can’t figure that out. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk

I haven't read the rule, but I am curious the application/interpretation. Hypothetical: The Busy Bee (RIP) runs a photo on their Facebook page showing Eric Nowlin eating ice cream. Which caption is ok and which is not ok? 1. Eric Nowlin enjoys ice cream from the Busy Bee. 2. Our local (negative star LOL) athlete enjoys the Busy Bee. 3. Football athletes (assuming they call Eric Nowlin an athlete) like our ice cream. 4. Bomber players like the Busy Bee. Personally I am ok with 1 and 2. 3 I'm probably ok with. 4 I think should NOT be ok. Assuming there is pay involved. If unpaid, I'm perfectly fine with all 4. In game photos, or full uniform photos/appearances should be a no-no. If you are wearing a "Bombers 1000 lb. club" shirt in #1 I would be ok with it. #2 would depend on how prominent the shirt was. A football t-shirt I would say no. #3 & #4 no. Just my .02.
