  1. Southridge has great speed and a bunch of positions. They are very good. BUT, I believe GS defense is at a much difference place this time and #18 is on point.
  2. Not from me! I have said for a 3 weeks when GS defense started clicking that the Titans will have their opportunity to get destroyed by Chatard at Lucas Oil. With that said, I will be rooting for the Titans (or Raiders, or Tigers, or anybody that plays them). Who knows, with the 'rona it could change everything. The only problem with Chatard losing their first string is that their second string is better than the rest of the state's first. I'm looking forward to them going to 4A to dominate there. I'd like to see #18 against those DBs at BC. They are fast, and put on a tackling clinic. They made us look alot slower than we were.
  3. Surely this will be on Jasper's channel...Southridge is the only Dubois county team left playing.
  4. Oh, for some reason I thought Westfield was a 3A school. My bad. I will revise to Tri-West then.
  5. Smaller school gives more opportunity for kids that wouldn't play otherwise. Heritage Hills has around 600 students. You will have a dozen or so on a basketball team. Carmel has almost 5000 students. You still have a dozen or so on the team (I would assume). There are surely kids that would be excellent ball players that would be playing if they weren't at the mega school. I live in the country, but if I moved to a city, say Indy for example, I would be far more inclined to Westfield or Danville than Carmel or Fishers. Gives your "normal" kid the opportunity to play. I'm a small town guy, that is my bias....I dunno.
  6. That's awful. Keep us informed. This will be the game of the week in our area for sure, I'd love to be able to see it.
  7. While SR is insanely quick at a bunch of positions and Kippenbrock is a tank that begs you to try and tackle him, I am going with GS for the upset and to go on and win 32. I'm hoping to find my way over to Huntingburg Friday night. Is Southridge continuing with the same rules? Allowing lots of people? Selling tickets at the gate or no?
  8. I'm keeping up. It's the same thing. If a school makes that choice, great, that is on them.
  9. @Coach Nowlinjust dropped mine....sorry so late! Meant to weeks ago!
  10. Really? You can easily become slammed with injuries and have 4 starters out that played both ways. On a 3A team (other than Bishop Chatard), that changes everything. Maybe if/when a team has a player(s) with injury or 'rona the opposing team should have to bench the equal number of starters. It's only fair.
  11. It's high school. You run what you brung. We have had to play a crap ton of our season without starters because of contact tracing. Not because they were actually sick, but close to someone who tested positive. We didn't cancel a single game. You find a way to win or you lose and move to the next Friday. As a result we are going to have probably the 6th less than .500 season in 40 years, but it is what it is. Play the game, even if some idiot politician tells you that your QB can't play because he was within 6 feet of a positive case. Some schools are making provisions by rotating kids every 14 minutes to get around this, some schools aren't. If Gibson Southern loses #18 due to the 'rona, you think Hart will cry about it....nope, that is a guy that will find a way. Which is the same thing we have done all season, we could have cancelled due to players out, but we played with 3 sophomores and a backup qb in the backfield for a number of games. Play the game, forget the culture of the participation trophy asterisk * crap. And by the way...Gibson Southern folks....I am looking forward to hosting you in the Jungle. We are at full strength this time (almost). Come say hi....I'll be on the chain gang. I'm the good looking one.
  12. It would be ridiculous to not play....just as it would be ridiculous to not play basketball. By this logic we should never have had any sporting events or gatherings or ever have any again. Live your life. If you don't want to go out, limit that. Nobody is forcing a child to play a sport and nobody is being forced to go watch. If you want to remain in the basement, by all means do so, but don't ruin everyone else's life when you have a 99.94% chance of not dying. If this were the black plague, it would be a different discussion. Do the math. Can we move on to the tournament now?
  13. If nothing else, I want this tournament played out of shameless selfishness. I want Bishop Chatard out of 3A. I am tired of that nonsense. It is likely that they will dominate 4A just as 3A....they certainly would have won 4A last year. I know...no excuses, you have to find a way to win until the rules are changed.....but at least we can have them exit 3A. It does look like whoever comes out of our 32 will have the privilege of getting destroyed by Chatard though. I'm not totally discounting Lawerenceburg and Danville against 32....I just believe their are 2 teams in 32 that could likely have that opportunity.
  14. Yeah, 400+ yards on the ground....I'd like to see a run offense from them as well. 🙄
  15. Totally different indeed....we have played much of this season with a junior and 3 sophomores in the backfield. That isn't to take anything away from them, they have done the best they can, and they are good. It is just difficult when you are 15 years old going against a man. I have heard that these kids have learned their lesson with this stupid covid tracing and many of them are sitting in the floor in the corner of the classrooms so they don't breach 6 foot of anyone for 15 minutes or whatever it is that the CDC is saying today. I think the team that will be different is GS. Defense has improved exponentially.
  16. @MoonshinersI'd say that is all reasonable. Gibson Southern might pull off a surprise. GS is better than a 20 point loss to SR (first game). We were even within 20 points of Southridge. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that GS will win this sectional. I watched Southridge beat the snot out of us last week and what I came away with is that they are crazy fast. Impressive speed. If Colson Montgomery was still playing they would likely be contenders to get themselves crushed by the DII college of Bishop Chatard at Lucas.
  17. This nonsense of COVID changes every 15 minutes so who knows. I am sick of this and there is no foreseeable end to it. If we are still dealing with this ridiculousness next year I think I will lose my mind. Game will be at the Jungle.
  18. I wasn't glad because I knew they wouldn't get any non conference games. Jasper has killed it in the SIAC. Playing in the SIAC, is like playing in the SEC, you get beat on week after week, not like playing in the PAC or Big 8. Jasper has exceeded everybody's expectations and this should really prepare them for sectionals year after year.
  19. It was all good fun...we loved to beat Jasper. For a game that didn't matter at the end of the season, it always seemed to be the game that mattered the most. The last game we played last year was a must win, we couldn't have that coach being the one Jasper football coach with a winning record against HH. Seriously, I am going to miss playing you guys.
  20. I wish Southridge was playing Jasper this year. I always love to see Jasper get beat, especially when it is by us or Southridge! Sadly, no more....
  21. I wish it could have worked out that they played Tell City. They will blow out Princeton. That is weird when you say it out loud.
  22. Indeed....can't be. That was to be their homecoming and senior night. It will have to be normal time.
