Chris Reynolds (former PG under Knight) who is Bradley's current AD is my preference but I think they'll take a strong look at Pat Kraft from Temple. IU alum who was previous assistant AD at Indiana a few years back. He seems more qualified than Reynolds.

I know for sure Illinois' composite is skewed because they added a bunch of grad transfers who will no longer be on next years team. Northwestern's lone 5* was QB Hunter Johnson who was benched halfway through the year and looks to be in completely over his head. Illinois and Northwestern lose a ton to graduation while Purdue brings back just about all of it's talent who were either true freshman or sophomores. On paper Purdue will have a more talented roster than either Ill or NW if we're strictly looking at HS recruiting rankings, that's a given. But it's still young talent. Not going to win many places when your most talented players are freshman and sophomores.

That was for this year. Purdue's recruiting classes from 15, 16. and 17 were atrocious. Purdue had better and more highly ranked recruiting classes in 2018, 2019, and this incoming 2020 class than both Illinois and Northwestern.

Maybe not in terms of talent, but IU has -much more continuity -depth and experience -momentum and the gap is widening.

Could certainly see it happening, but Illinois doesn't have near the talent that Purdue has and neither does Northwestern. Been underwhelmed with Frost. Purdue is certainly young and I think that may be there downfall for next year, especially if they can't get healthy, but their roster isn't the worst in the West. Is Shorter committed to Purdue or even a Purdue lean? Am I missing something other than he would be a really good pick up for wherever he lands?

It'll be 2-3 years minimum before Rutgers is even competitive. Their roster is HORRID and that isn't going to change overnight. Maryland like Rutgers will continue to struggle trying to compete against teams outside their recruiting base.

Didn't you just advocate that you were in favor of Allen's extension? What's the alternative? Let him walk, hire an unknown and pay him $2-3mil a year and watch them win 4 and 5 games for eternity? Can't have it both ways.

Is the transfer in that Tweet Shorter? Has he committed to Purdue or seriously considering them? Unless he receives a waiver, doubt he ever gets the chance to play with Rondale as I think Rondale is gone after this year.

I'm guessing Plummer is the more "talented" of the two based on his recruiting ranking but O'Connell has been there the longest, and while he's technically a walk-on he looked anything but in the few times I saw him. Throws a very good ball. Decision making wasn't great but again I'm guessing that has a lot to do with starting the year as a 4th string QB. Give him reps at the 1 for a full spring and he could end up being pretty good. Plummer likely won't be healthy for spring ball.

Both O'Connell and Plummer started multiple games last year. If they started last year how can you say there is absolutely no one of the depth chart that appears to be first team QB? They have a highly rated redshirt freshman in Peferi and a 4* true freshman coming in as well.

I don't the TCU QB in Purdue plans after Sindelars decision to retire. I can't see Purdue giving a scholarship to a QB who isn't immediately eligible AND giving one to a walk-on when they already are in a scholarship crunch. Had Sindelar returned I could see Brohm cutting bait with O'Connell, but not in this instance.

Well O'Connell and Plummer both started games last year so he'll have 2 experienced signal callers heading into year 4 (unless O'Connell doesn't get a scholarship and transfers) and yes losing 3 QB's to injury is a little bit of bad luck. I believe Brohm has taken a QB in every class.

Talking about a scholarship that could have been used for a JUCO/Grad Transfer at whatever position (OL or MLB). Brohm almost has to give a scholarship to O'Connell now doesn't he? Plummer is likely out for the spring and you'd only have a RS freshman Preferi for your spring practice unless Alaimo enrolls early.

Does this almost force Brohm to give O'Connell a scholarship now? Could this potentially hurt securing a Grad Transfer or JUCO?

Mixed reactions. Thought he did the best he could given President McRobbie doesn't give an ounce about athletics. Based on his job title, he did what he was supposed to do. Raised money for the university, improved facilities across the board etc. It's unfortunate but he's ultimately going to be judged on the performance of the basketball program which has been a massive disappointment during his tenure. Although he didn't hire Crean, he gave him unwarranted extension after a single year and ultimately held on to him too long. Still too early to tell on Archie, although with a new AD he may not have as long a leash as originally thought. Needs to make the tournament this year.

Gotcha. Figured Brohm would have brought somebody in a little more seasoned and decorated. Schematically Purdue's approach last year was terrible and unless Holt got his way, is there much difference from having a co-coordinator step in? Saw Purdue has had 2 DB's de-commit in the last couple weeks and maybe a third one on the horizon?

Wasn't he the DB's coach last year? Seems like a pretty underwhelming for a DC considering the secondary has been a major concern.

IU or Purdue need to get this guy on staff somehow. Has not only deep recruiting ties to the state of Indiana, but ties to one of the best high school football programs in the country.

7-8 wins usually signals a mid-pack conference finish with a decent bowl game. 9-10 wins you're competing, if not some years winning your division and playing for a conference title. If Brohm is finishing 1 or 2 in the West in 2-3 years, does his $6+mil/yr contract justify the results? I think you can get a lot of guys to win 7-8 games in the B10 West while paying them significantly less than what Brohm is making.

Probably lose Milton Wright who is from Louisville. David Bell is probably a Buckeye or Nittany Lion. Purdue was in a unique situation because Purdue doesn't recruit itself on namesake. I do however think it will come to a point a few years down the line where Purdue has justify paying Brohm over $6mil/yr. If he's only consistently winning 7-8 games a year, does Purdue continue to hold on to him?

Jury still out. Only thing conclusive is that Purdue is stuck with Brohm for better or worse. Purdue massively overachieved in years 1 and 2 with Brohm and had a ton of recruiting momentum. Yeah I think they ponied up more than they should have for Brohm, but at the same time, if you let Brohm walk after year 2, you probably lose a top 25 recruiting class and are back to square one. If anything Brohm has elevated Purdue's floor from Hazel which I'm sure every Purdue fan can live with at the current moment. He may never deliver results that justify his top 10 salary, but if Purdue can win 7-8 games consistently the next few years (I have my doubts) the extension was warranted based off the mess he inherited.
