Actually I believe the Bombers were supposed to play Twin Lakes that weekend. Munster was a close last minute convenient pick up.

Okay,.  I just knew that Munster wasn't a conference team.  Should have looked on other seasons and would have discovered that.  I'd still like to see the Bombers and the Miners start a series with each other.  Thanks.

Sectional 40 is starting to shape up nicely with TC, MD and L-S.  Forest Park has a nice team too.

Make no mistake about it, in spite of their record, Mater Dei is still the team to beat in sectional 40.  They just took down a good North team.  Yeah, I know North's QB didn't play, but North still has a good defense.  Mater Dei won by 2 scores at North.  Impressive win.

Yeah I listened to most of it on the way to a gig.   I thought NK hung tough too... I didn't hear the last part.. I think it was maybe 21-14 when I shut down.  I think Linton worked on a lot of aspects of their game against ND.  A lot of guys got reps, and a couple in different spots.  I still worry about the pass defense a bit... we still tend to give up a big play here and there.  last year NK had a couple of those against us.  They didn't get us with the running game though... so I expect they will  try to exploit Linton in the air.  I like the Hammelman kid the have at QB.. and certainly HOltman Doades had big plays against us as a soph last year.  Linton simply has to come in to this game ready to play.  North Knox will I'm sure... Beating the Miners would be huge for NK...  i hope DeBruhl will be back.. he said he was ready last week.

As I said, I thought Hammelman played a decent game against the Bombers.  He had some nice passes but I was more impressed with some of the runs he made picking up first downs and extending drives for the Warriors.  The Miner defense is going to have to stay sharp and watch for that and stay focused.  I'm sure the Warriors will show up full of confidence after their game with the Bombers.   Off the subject here.   I'd like to see the Bombers and the Miners start a series with each other.  I think it would be epic.  Both of them are quality 2A programs.  The Miners still have a couple of 1A teams on their schedule they should drop.   The Bombers could drop 5A Munster since they aren't a very good program.  In fact Munster is last in 5A this year and have been close to that for several years.  While it may not look great to drop a 5A school and pick up a 2A, the level of competition would be much better.

We scrimmaged Tell City last year (2019) at Manchester Team Camp,  came away impressed with them, had not idea what grade they were in, nice to see them having a good year

I'd like to see the Bombers start a series with the Linton Miners.  I've noticed that the Bombers have a couple of non conference games on their schedule.  Why not drop Munster?  They aren't a very good program in 5A.  In fact they are ranked last in 5A.  They could always schedule the game on a Saturday and maybe play at a neutral site like they did last week with North Knox to avoid a long, long drive.  I believe the two programs are similar and think it would be an epic series.  And it would give the Bombers some southern exposure while giving the Miners some Northern exposure.  Your thoughts Coach?

Im glad NK was able to find a game this week. An a much better than Pike Central.  Seems like they have had a tough time being able to play.

I listened to the game on the radio.  North Knox didn't play too bad.  Their defense gave up 400+ yards but not a ton of points.  The offense moved the ball at times.  The QB for North Knox played a fairly decent game.  He picked up several key first downs running the ball and threw a few nice passes.  They ended up losing by 2 scores.  Not what I expected.   I figured it would be a blowout.  The Bombers are a very good program.

That game would be epic.  Crawfordsville could be a good neutral site venue at either CHS or Wabash College.

I know the game yesterday was a make up because of a conference cancellation.  I'd still like to see the Bombers and the Miners play.  Haven't looked to see how many non conference games they have, if any.   I think the programs are similar so I think it would make for an epic type series.  They could always schedule it on a Saturday.  The Miners could stand to add one or 2 more quality programs to their schedule and drop a couple of teams they currently play.  The Bombers would be one that I would look at as a replacement.  It would give the Bombers southern exposure and the Miners northern exposure.  Oh well, it's a fan's "wish" and would probably never go anywhere.

Sounds like a great game.  Props to everyone involved to make this game go at the last minute.

It was a good game actually.  I was surprised that it even happened.  I'd love to see the Bombers and the Linton Miners work out something and start a series with each other. I know it's a long haul between schools but maybe they could work out something like yesterday and play at a neutral site.

  8. One season (I think the early 2010's) Dugger only had 13 dressed for the Linton game.  I think they started the season with about 20 and then kids started getting hurt.  Think about that: only 13 players.  You can't even have practice with 13.  I heard they were using coaches, parents, whoever they could just get to hold practices.  You had to give them credit, because they played to the whistle on EVERY down.  I felt bad for them, but admired them for never giving up.  That's dedication to your school and your sport.

  9. The season seems to be flying along.  It's already week 7.  This week finds the North Knox Warriors visiting the Linton Miners.  This will be the 44th meeting between these 2 programs.  Linton holds a 37 -6 mark in the series.  For now, North Knox is averaging 31 points on offense while giving  up 20.8 points per game.  The Miners have averaged 34.7 points per game on offense while giving up 24.2 points on defense.   Last week saw the Warriors hit the road and take on the Rensy Central Bombers at Covington High School.  The Warriors lost the game but gave a good account of themselves (35 - 19).  I listened to the game on the radio.  The Miners were also on the road at undefeated North Daviess.  The Miners won 50 - 14.  Harrell is predicting a 38 - 24 Miners' win.  I don't think it will be that close.  The Miner defense is improving at shutting down offenses.  Not sure the Warriors will get to 24 points.  Best of health to both teams.

You were spot on my friend:    9 for 85,  have not been that sloppy all year, all legit it seemed when I reviewed it on the IPAD.   Back to Back 15 yarders helped their last score for sure.

We had 30 1st downs and 429 yards of offense and held NK to 9 1st downs and 209 of total offense, but didn't capitalized in key moments, especially 1st half.

NK runs simiular offense as us, with a few wrinkles so it was fun to see it and go against it.  Appreciate all of the NK folks, coaches and players, to make this happen.

Didn't know exactly how many but knew there were quite a few (penalties) especially in that second half.  That first half was actually entertaining.  Close game.  Given the situation, I think the Warriors gave a good account of themselves.  By the way, they play Linton this Friday.  Thanks for "softening" them up for us.  LOL  I thought the QB for North Knox played a fairly decent game against that Bomber defense.  He had a few nice runs.  But overall, the Bomber defense made the stops when they needed to.  Once it got to a 2 score lead in the 3rd quarter, it seemed that North Knox just couldn't keep up.  They couldn't get their stops.  Kinda put them at "arm's length" as the saying goes.

  11. Final

    Bombers 35

    Warriors 19

Props to the Warriors for picking up this game and at the last minute.  It was an entertaining first half with the Bombers up by one score.  Man, the Bombers had a TON of penalties.   I think at times that was helping the Warriors stay in the game.  Second half was mostly the Bombers.  Once they got up 2 scores they pretty much kept it there.  Warriors QB played a pretty decent game.  His legs helped the Warriors sustain drives a few times.  Looking forward to see what the Warriors can do next week against the Miners.
