  1. Whoops! The get added to the list. I figured I did miss some that I am not familiar with.
  2. I saw a game a year ago where they lost really good RB (Fike?) and they brought him in for the first play at WR the next game. He stood split away from the play and walked off the field the next play. Two went with EC by a point and the others Memorial by a close margin.
  3. Something to talk about. Slow day yesterday. I would also say there are flaws in this system. It shows that sometimes numbers aren't everything. For example, Mater Dei has won more SIAC titles than Castle. (Surprisingly!) Would we say that with SIACs, sectionals and finals appearances that they are a better program. (Whatever that means.)
  4. I considered for example, Whiteland, Franklin and Triton Central and the like "Indy Metro" schools.
  5. I agree with some of the numbers being skewed to the 70s, but LB did get to the finals once and they are still winning sectionals recently. I don't think anyone considers their program better than EC. I thought about looking only at the everyone gets in period starting in 85, but hey, it is something to debate and talk about!
  6. Was a little bored last night and I was looking at programs that I generally call "South of the Indy Metro Area". Bloomington, Columbus, Evansville, Jeffersonville, SE Indiana and all points in between. On a previous thread there was talk about program strength and tradition. I decided to take a look and ranked them on State Titles, Runner Ups, Sectionals and I threw in Mr. Footballs as a last tie breaker. I looked at playoff era only. I noticed a couple of things: 1. If Gibson Southern were to win this year, it really speaks to the turn around in the program Nick Hart has done. All of the other winners from the South have at least 10 sectionals to their credit, indicating consistant winning. GS only has four and NH has all of them. I hope they get it. 2. Long droughts - 27 years since last state title appearance for Castle and 20 for Jasper. Also Jasper longest sectional title drought for those who have won state titles. 3. Memorial - The Hurley success has allowed Memorial to really jump to the top.
  7. I think a lot will depend on how well Memorial can run the ball. Memorial RBs look like they can play, but the numbers were quite modest in the two losses.
  8. Mt. Vernon has been flying under the radar. The lost to a pretty meh Noblelsville to start the season and that may have turned some of the press off. A lot of the local press were very into Mooresville as a dark horse candidate due to their QB. (Justifiable so). Some also thought if Roncalli was going to be upset early, it was going going to be Chatard. People kind of forgot about MV. They rebounded nicely after the week one loss to run the table to this point. I think there are some questions about the strength of the HHC. New Pal has been down the past two years and the talent really drops off a cliff after MV and New Pal. They play a lot of these same teams in sectional. Prior to Chatard being added to Sectional 22, I thought sectional 22 and 21 were both two of the easiest paths to a sectional title in 4A. (Maybe S18)
  9. When I checked his stats, I saw a bunch of L’s his Fr. year but neglected to see what team that was. Did not know he changed schools. I agree that MV will be very motivated after last year.
  10. I was worried too because he did not seem to come out of the tent It almost looked like he fell on the ball or something else weird because it was not your typical violent hit.
  11. I think it will come down to how well Slunaker plays. (Have we had this conversation before?) I think Roncalli should push MV around when they have the ball and the Chatard second half shows what happens when you load the box against them. Slunaker’s QB rating and completion % are up. His INTs are down. Some of that is probably due to state of HHC, but it is an improvement over last year. Last year he had to throw it 40 times, by far the most of the last two seasons. I am stunned that the Roncalli QB has 60 more attempts this year than him. MV QB has not attempted over 20 since game 2. Looks like MV is more ground oriented this year. 240 yards per game this year vs 182 last year. Would be surprised if they approach that figure. Only had 31 yards last year.
  12. I don’t think they will overlook Mt. Vernon. Roncalli knows they will be pretty salty after last year.
  13. WR (Lockard) looks like he is back. Listed as starting in pregame notes from Roncalli.
  14. Looks like it was on a fake punt when they were up 28-0 in the 4th. He is their punter too. Special teams are so important at this point in the season.
  15. These articles disappear quickly. A trick I found is to view on my ipad and it sticks around long enough for me to get a screen shot so I can read it.
  16. Looks like Sam Ringer is out for EC. Sr. SS on D and ran some wildcat QB against Roncalli for 2 TDs.
  17. I forgot Columbus East had 3 titles. I knew they had two Mr. Footballs. We will see if that success continues after the departure of their coach.
  18. I agree. I played when he was an assistant on our Regional championship team. Comparing EC and MD, EC is 2-2 in state finals. MD is 1-4. I think that you could make an arguement that south of Center Grove, EC is in a group of about 5 schools that could claim to be the top program of the playoff era.
  19. Nothing good will come from answering that question.
  20. Facts, facts, facts. There you go again, letting facts get in the way of a good story. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  21. So the SR WR that had over 800 yards for the season and 7 catches vs EC was on the JV?
  22. Interesting comment. I would have compared their tradition and success in the playoff era to Reitz. (State titles, Mr Football and general success) That comparison really isn’t valid after the last 5 years or so based on what Reitz has done. I agree Memorial has their hands full.
  23. That would be the 5th out of 5 regionals or SS for Roncalli to be at EC.
  24. They looked really fast on offense. Physical as always but maybe slightly smaller than last year. They tried to run a 3 man front lining a yard off the ball with a lot of stunting on D. #1 can just go get the ball when it is thrown to him. Did not see Ringer this year, but he was tough two years ago in season finale at EC. Had like 170 yards as FR.
  25. Rematch from last year at the same place with rankings and records switched. Roncalli line is actually better this year. .(6’4” 340 lb Patrick Meek was lost for the season last year in game 2 with injury. ) Big thing will be WR for Roncalli who left Chatard game with injury and did not return. He holds every career and single season receiving record at Roncalli. He also had 2 long TDS in game last year.
