I was chatting with one of their fans on the Roncalli-EC thread and they are running much more of a spread offense with power running principles. They like to get Ringer, #20, and #1 the ball in space.

In game 1, Roncalli made a few small mistakes that kept Chatard in the game . (1 TO and penalties) I thought tonight Chatard made a few small mistakes that allowed Roncalli to pull away. (Offsides at the end of the half that allowed Roncalli to score and falling down in pass coverage.). Carter St. John and Hannon are two outatanding players.

Anyone surprised at the Memorial-Northview picks in the C&P? I know these guys are kind of homers, but only one had NV within single digits. Seems like they are writing of the Memorial-Jasper game as a fluke and forgetting about Castle-Memorial.

The blind draw really counters the sectional finals arguments. There are some sides of the brackets that have all bad teams.

All good points and they avenged their 2 regular season losses in the playoffs.

In addition to the TO advantage by Chatard, I think there were a few crucial penalties that really helped Chatard by extending their drives and others by forcing Roncalli punts. I would say 2-3 times. One of these goes the other way and it ends up 35-14 like you mentioned. Not that they were bad calls, but they just seemed to have a big impact when they were thrown.

I am not a life long southsider, so I can only understand what I read in the media guides and spending hours looking at John Harrells page. However, none of their previous state title runs had margins as large as last year. No one played withing three touchdowns of them. (I think a COVID free EC might have had a chance, but we will never know.) The 3 titles and four consecutive appearances looked like good teams, but one of those started the season with 4 straight losses before winning the next 10 and a title. Lost to Chatard 3/4 of those seasons. Did beat Cathedral the three times they met in the playoffs. The 99 team beat Moeller, ran the table and had pretty good margins. The 2016 almost lost to Southport in regular season and Lebanon in sectionals, but just had a way to win games. I know some will argue that this group did not beat Cathedral, but you can only beat who you play. They are going to have a couple of carreer records for the WR and QB that will never be broken. If they win out, I don't know how you could argue against them.

Roncalli's pregame report had the full game stats from last game. Had not seen the Chatard stats on MaxPreps.

I agree Chatard is playing better, but the record of the teams on their 7 game winning streak is 22-45. That includes a 7-2 Bloomington South team. I would say that Chatard has beaten the teams they should have and also lost to the teams that they should have. (Brebeuf could be argued, but I think they are probably the better team this year. The TO's in that game made the difference.) Looking forward to this game.

Big factor for Roncalli: Tyson Garrett did not play in the first game due to contact tracing. He is getting some looks by colleges and is a big factor on the defense. His speed at this size is a difference maker. (6'1" 222) Carter St. John scares me to death. He is so quick and shifty when he rolls out or on designed runs out of the QB spot. He is a player!

Honestly, it was a slow day at work and I was thinking about how Roncalli always seems to play at EC in the playoffs. If Roncalli does not make it, I will wish those teams the best of luck and probably skip the broadcast.

I think Chatard may have done Roncalli a favor by pushing them so hard in the first game. No way Roncalli over looks Chatard to begin with, but they played them really tough. I would say that got Roncalli’s attention. Also depends what Chatard team show ups. If they start the game like they did against Brebeuf, they are in trouble.

The 28-28 score after 3 had me wondering if it was a fluke. NV was able to pull off another nice win. Congrats.

Where is sectional final?

Wow. Did not see this coming. EC looks fast and physical vs Mooresville.

Mooresville got a bad break on penalty on 1st drive of second half. EC starting to push them around.

Roncalli really pushed MV around last year and I don’t think he line situation has changed much. Roncalli might actually be better on the line this year and is offensively more diverse. MV would need their QB to play better. Last year he missed several open receivers when he could have brought MV back into the game. HHC is still down since New Pal is down.

I am going to watch the Mooresville-Whiteland game since I have some time. The DC and Whiteland games have my attention because I think they have a lot in commond with EC. Physical teams that can run the ball. Will be interesting to see how Mooresville plays with a physical team.
