4A postseason talk
fenderbender replied to TigerFan20's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
He throws a nice ball and has a couple of quick receivers. RB is shifty too. Unless Patterson is on his back all night, I think they will give Jasper problems when they have to defend the WR is space. I have always thought that teams that see a passing offense in practice (Memorial/Mater Dei) are able to defend it better in games than teams that do not see it a lot (Jasper). -
4A postseason talk

I am surprised by the big plays that Jasper gives up in every game. Even Harrison and Bosse. If they get by Memorial and run into Mooresville, I am not sure they can slow down a team like that. -
4A postseason talk

Leo has a lot of size. Hobart is not as strong on defense as they were last year, so that Hobart pick kind of surprises me. Mooresville had problems with Decatur Central. DC likes to run like East Central, so Mooresville EC will be a great game. No love for Jasper in the percentages? I agree that Memorial has the tools to do what North did to Jasper only better. -

Someone please remind me: bottom of bracket is home but can’t host three in a row? -

I think this is their opportunity with their size on the OL and their depth at RB. -

If Leo does not come out of the North this year, when? -
IHSAATV is showing something for North vs Jasper in their affiliates link. JHS Media that I have not seen before.

Are we in a new 2-year Success Factor window?
fenderbender replied to XStar's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Maybe not a goal, but I bet Pioneer would argue that they are being set up to be in 2A for a while. Some, (not me), would argue that Chatard has demonstrated by their record that they should be playing against better competition. We can argue if 4A is better excluding the top 2-3 teams, but the success factor assumes that bigger is better competition -

It is baffling to me why they put them in the same sectional. If one wanted to guarantee Chatard to stay in 4A forever, they would put them in another one. (Though there is every chance they could beat Roncalli two years in a row and stay up.) Or maybe they think Roncalli will move up to 5A and then Chatard wins that sectional every year and stays up. -

Or Roncalli's sectional 22 prior to Chatard arriving as an example of the other extreme. (Attucks had less that 25 players on the team last year.) -

You got me. For some reason I had it in my head that they lowered it after the second or third year of having the success factor. Section (e) details that 1 point drops back down. -

The way I read it: We are in year 1 of a 2 year classification cycle. Chatard is in 4A for the next two seasons. If they win a sectional, they stay up. Memorial won state in 4A two years ago, all they had to do was win a sectional to stay up. They win a sectional in the next two years, they stay up. Classification cycle is not a rolling two years. It is weird and confusing because of that. Another Example: Two years ago, Roncalli won sectional and won state the next year. 5 points. Even though they have a very strong chance to win back to back this year, if they did they would be in two different periods. -

He ran pretty well in the sectional game against Roncalli the next year. -
I seriously respect a community with priorities.

Keeping them top secret!

Does anyone have a Jasper roster they can post? Maybe a picture of a program from one of their games? MaxPreps is missing a lot of the Height and Weights for their players. Just currious about their lines.

The starting QB is also out still? He missed the last two games?
-
There was an early pass in the game where Annee was running down the field and ran by the DBs and the QB missed him long. Early in the game he had time and his passes are just off. He is not accurate when he has time. Under 60% passing completion for the season. On a couple of the drives that they needed to pass, they seemed they were targeting Gore more on the pass and were using the screen pass to Hansen. First time this season I have seen the screen in those critical 3rd and medium situation. Great call against a good DL.

A new Catholic HS would be an interesting development. Back when I was in HS, most of the Haubstadt kids who went to Catholic HS went to Mater Dei. MD has a lot of long time families from that northern Vanderburgh county corner. The diocese kind of already tried this once with Rex Mundi. RM was a newer school, but most of the westside families were going to go to Reitz if they closed MD instead of RM. They would probably have to put it very far North so it would not hurt the existing schools.

This would be a very interesting matchup. Here are my takeaways from the Brebeuf-Roncalli game: 1. Brebeuf Jesuit (BJ) has a few very fast and talented WRs. The Annee kid ran right by several Roncalli DBs. They will be hard to cover. 2. BJ QB has accuracy problems. Under 50% for the game and under 60% for the season. His WRs made several circus catches in the Roncalli game that bailed him out. 3. BJ had problems in this game running the ball. Also seem to be shakey running most of the season. 4. DL is really tough. Two All State kids, plus another 240lb DT that played will. Looks like another decent kid. They tried to go 4-3 to stop the run and went 3-4 in passing situations. 5. DBs must of keyed on Roncalli's best receiver because he did not have a catch. The DBs seem fast. Their LBs move well to the ball. Have not seen a full GS game. They will have advantate at QB and I know they have a really good WR. Can the OL hold up and how is there defense? I know that teams that pass the ball well tend to play defense against the pass better because they see it in practice.
