Roncalli is also missing from that group a 6'1" 290lb junior who two years ago was pulled from the FR team into the starting line up. (Should be back soon)

2021 IFCA Pre-Season Poll (4A)
fenderbender replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Heard Roncalli really pushed Franklin around last night and the QB looked really sharp. -
And Bloomington South just had two highly rated players move in. (Dad is new coach at IU.) Castle may have a hard fight just to get out of Sectional.

Kind of surprised Harrison WL is getting so few votes. -
Reitz Bowl @ 100!

Mater Dei was built in 1949, so the rivalry is not as old yours. (Memorial was the first Catholic high school in Evansville.) -
Read all of them. Interesting reads.

Will the transfers to Bloomington South turn that program around? -
2021 IFCA Pre-Season Poll (4A)

Could it be that the polls are putting a lot of weight in losing Pence at QB? QB play is so important at all levels and last year Memorial had a QB that did not make mistakes (17TDs/2 INTs) and completed 60% of his passes. I have been looking at their stats on Maxpreps and for the life of me, I can't make heads or tails of them. Maybe this is a case where the stats don't show what they have coming back. They only rushed for 93 yards per game and that includes the Reitz game where they rushed for 269 yards (1/4 of their season total). EM was not really throwing like crazy (Pence was 68th in the state with 149 passing yards/game). Not trying to slam anyone here, I am just a stat nerd trying to understand. -
If EC was not missing their two best RBs because of COVID, they would have beat Mooresville last year. At full strength, EC was the only 4A team to stay within 3 TDs of Roncalli. (They always seem to play Roncalli tough.) But that was last year. They did lose their two LBs who were two of the best that I saw I all season. Also lost the big lineman who is now at UC. Ringer brothers are back in the backfield and they always seem to find decent size on the lines. I agree, they should win 23. I don't think Mooresville has enough around their QB this season to win it.

My opinion that means absolutely nothing: 1. Roncalli - Absolutely loaded. 2. Chatard - Lost players but will be strong 3. East Central - Always tough 4. Leo - Have some D1 linemen 5. Evansville Memorial - A lot of positive chatter 6. Mt. Vernon - I think we have seen MV hit their high water mark. 7. Hobart - 4A North is overmatched 8. Lowell - Same 9. East Noble - Same 10. Jasper - Big shoes to fill 11. Mooresville - Lost too much

They lost all of their offense. It was either the QB or the FB, if not, they were not getting much else. I saw some talk about the TE getting some D1 looks, but if you can't throw the ball to him (like last year) , he turns into just another offensive lineman. Maybe their line is good enough to plug two new players into those two skilled positions spots they lost.

Being from Evansville and a child of the 80s, IMO the state titles justifiably influenced the opinion of Castle's standing in the SIAC. They were the first SIAC to win a playoff state title and had the the most (2) for a long time until Reitz and Memorial won theirs. A couple of months ago I heard this mentioned and I did not believe it when I heard that Mater Dei had more SIAC titles than Castle and had to go look it up. (Mater Dei did not win their first SIAC until 1984, so 4 years after Castle was folded into single division SIAC with the rest of the city schools)

I would start off by wishing Gibson Southern the best of luck next season. No ill will at all. I remember someone saying about some of the Colts teams "if not now, when?". Memorial and Chatard are in 4A. Southrigdge has to take a step back due to graduation. If HH is better, they are still not the team of 2 years ago. Is Brady Allen the highest rated recruit ever to come out of GS? Lawrenceburg could be strong, but they lost to PAC teams by 3 TDs the last two seasons. No dog in the 3A fight ,so I hope they do well.
