And didnt New Pal only beat east central 20-6? I dont question their strength as a team but that game clearly showed they were not a generationaly dominant team. At any rate , im sure they will win the title. Teams from up north haven't been as competitive in recent decades with indy area teams.

Maybe the skill players at south?? Unsure if they are doing camps or not? Reason I doubt and I dont like to criticize high school kids but south qb even last year has made questionable decisions resulting in turnovers in important games. I think he plays basketball as well and possibly aau but im not sure. When I played we did the team camp at bishop dullaghan. Don't know if south is still doing it or not. I understand new pal has one of their best teams and I stand by my assumption that if south was still participating in those off season camps that the game would have been more competitive. Just googled it and yes bhss qb is a basketball guy and plays aau for Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB . So no they aren't as committed to football.....

Reading hc coach Johnson quotes in the paper he talked about someday we will figure out how to get over the hump, speaking if his 4 semi state loses. I am far removed from the game but in my time at bhss if you didnt go to football camp you most likely werent seeing any playing time. Seems to me the guys doing multiple sports have been ready to play basketball since losing to center grove. Anyone can say that during the playoffs terree haute south and Bloomington North were far better teams than they were in the regular season. Question is why wasnt south a far better team also in the post season. If the emphasis in the guys minds is a different sport then that's fine . Losing the best defender hurt but even if they werent beating new pal wasn't happening regardless. As I stated I am far removed and dont know if football camp is even a thing nowadays. But as life goes ' you get out what you put in'. I am doubting south has the extra dedication activities such as football camps . I'm thinking if they did we would have had a much more competitive game last night. Congrats to New Pal no one is beating them .

Looks as if south will be lucky to get out of this season with a sectional title. Radio guy dave Novak ,joe smith says the panthers were with out 2 defensive backs. . I'm sure north was a better team, but losing 'stykeleather'(spelling?) for the season after center grove then a couple more db's since? Not sure if the two that are out included stykeleather.... at any rate if they do that to your d what will east centreal/or new pal do to you? If.you can make it out of regoinal....Same story every year it seems(injuries). Partly why I dont follow as much anymore. Had higher hopes tho.

Dont get on here much these days but for my one post this year ill make a prediction. My mind tells me Center grove 39 Bloomington South 20. I'd like to continue thinking this is the old bhss but everytime i think that way south proves otherwise. Just not impressed with the bhss defense. If south could get some stops I think it could be a 1 score loss . But with the penalties and porous d ive seen at times this season(vs. lesser competition than CG) I just couldn't sanely go with the Panthers on this one. Best wishes to both teams to stay healthy.

For what it's worth i know very little of Warsaw. DC had issues with a young bhss team in semistate. With 2 mins left in regulation, it was a 13 all game. DC runs back kickoff then gets a pick 6 of bhss soph qb to make the final 27-13. If I had to pick id prolly go with the team from the North. This year's DC team doesn't look like last year's machine which was handled anyways by snider.

According to the bloomington radio announcers castle has like 31 juniors coming back 64 total dressed for game last nite . Should be in early contender list. Bhss also has a very young team . These two could be playing for the next couple years .

@BOGO FL Also i never said anything about their being a recent district change. A hall of fame coach @ south filled the void of losing districts for a large portion of the of the time that your speaking of, but take away his years and South like had a 3 year period before he came back where they only won 4 games. I've had some real doozy conversations online with North fans through the years and I'll take this as a cue to return to watching elk hunting or salmon fishing vids in my free time. Thanks for releasing me. Finally you can rest in the knowledge that North should be a 4a sized school and in a different conference like they were in the 70s 'if' the mccsc had districts based on proximity to schools like most communities. It was common knowledge around the high school scene in the 70s that bhsn stacked the school board in their favor at one point in the late 70s or early 80s North had like 2300 students ( the mccsc has the enrollment figures by year upon request) . Then the districts flipped and flipped again now in favor of bhsn since (1997 according to you) .

@BOGO FL Common sense districts would be 2nd street all the way out of the county west(bloomfield rd) . And the areas nearer to bhss in town and Moores pike out to 446 should all be Panthers. Had those communities not been 'poached' by the mccsc bhsn would never have had those talented teams you speak of..... But for school lunches or whatever excuse they made they got it done. And yeah bhss is a shell of its former self. Never ever would center Grove , ft wayne snider, or many other schools redistrict their schools like that. bhss is like top 6 or 7 in all time state titles in all sports . We can kiss those days goodbye. But it make no sense to argue with someone about common sense. Congrats North fans can now claim they are better since they got communities(athletes) that are closer to south to fill their school and be more successful. And that is the bottom line of what had been accomplished. BTW bhss has declined un football success ever since the early 2000s. with the addition of Coach mo he brought them back because of coaching. Within one year without poaching he was beating north again. Now he's gone and it's showing.

I would say that your comment is incorrect. I live by monroe hospital and I believe Fullerton and everything north is the current district for b north. To say that anything South of second street going all the way to greene county on bloomfield road was norths district since 97 is wrong . There is absolutely no reason for that area to go to North since it is 2 miles up tapp road to bhss. Add in Hyde park also. Do you have evidence? Who at sout poached bhsn players cmon give us some names

10 team conference. Look at dc and martinsville now . In addition martinsville and bhss had been rivals and conference foes for several decades which created a higher level of competition and elevated play in the conference on a whole. lc and pike I had no interest in watching .

You do a great job being fair to both teams given the current state of mccsc athletics , every year when this week rolls around I try to disappear and live in the past😆. Had I broke down this game I would have said something along the lines of "bhsn beats bhss with the aid of the mccsc districting committee, who pillaged long time panther communities that are closer to bhss and districted them to bhsn. " I remember the day when bhsn was actually in a different conference and class. I actually am more inclined to follow other teams as I get older as well as the panthers . You know no school board is gonna redistrict schools such as ft wayne snider , etc etc. Actually watched some of the miracle comeback win the artesians had over decatur central . Not that I'm an artesian fan but more of a fan of communities ties that translate to local schools. That being said is there so.ewhere online we can see season/game stats for south?

One giant game by martinsville last nite. Down at one point 35 to zip comes back to win 39 to 38 over decatur central.

Good to know. Wish Joe Smith would hang it up. Looks like we will have to suffer him for the rest of the season. He was bragging about bnorths undefeated ci title during last weeks south terre haute game of all times . No Need to say more joe was great at one time but even his co commentator dave novak verbally sounds at times tired of joe when he has to correct him numerous times each game. I could go on but why bother 🙄.

@ptr Apparently thn's rb zaier white didn't play . Is there anywhere to see the stats for the game? Thoughts and prayers for the thn player that went down. I see the bhss bhsn game as a toss up. Both will be playing for second place this season it looks like. Joe Smith didn't retire .

@ptr BTW, I don't mean to criticize Coach Johnson I think he is a very good coach. I just wonder if he thought that maybe he should play his olb's up at the line . When I played we played the 5/2 defense with both olb's at the line of scrimmage. I know it's a different era but just i just would have liked to see if it would have worked..... Yeah they didn't give up. Loss like this with all things considered doesn't bother me a whole lot. But seriously if they would have had another d lineman we could have at least forced some 3rd downs in the second half. Nope we just let them run 3 vs. 5/6 at the line of scrimmage . No doubt who is gonna win that battle especially with a rb that gets a nice speed up before facing any resistance. I truly believe a coaching decision that would have brought up another d lineman could have won this game.

Martinsville has a good team . I'm not extremely impressed . Throw in the blocked punt for the td and an atrocious south secondary with the two late drives at the end of halves and well this was the result. I think there are some 2a teams that have better secondaries than that. The panthers looked athletic and had size but they were scattered and scared in the secondary. Martinsville qb threw 2 picks isn't like he was far and away better . Gabe Johnson runs a 3/4 I have never really liked that d. Martinsville had 5 or 6 guys on the oline and a fullback/slot up front vs souths 3 with sometimes a olb rotating up. Gotta make changes with the young personnel they have . But yeah hope they learn from this one. At least they didn't give up. Would have been easy down 14 .

seems like when south played them last I listened or watched some sort of stream possibly the terre haute media and they said thn was a young team that had a coaching change . Lot of development can occur in the off season.

A couple questionable calls in my opinion. game is on martinsville YouTube Channel . Never complain bout the refs because those things usually even out. Watching the panthers their youth is being exposed and conditioning doesn't look to good. Rb looking gassed out there. Martinsville players aren't showing that affect so far. Gonna be tough for south to come back in this one. Not totally impressed w martinsville qb and his two picks so far but it prob won't matter south looks tired martinsville doesnt.
