This is the same argument on ranking teams -- do you rank them based on their accomplishments (Hansen) or do you rank them based off what they can do (Bowen).

Put all small P/P schools in 3A and all 3A+ P/P schools in 5A. Then use the SF from there.
I don't support that, but I think it would solve most of the complaining.
Also, I've long supported the 1A/6A ~32 teams (probably less), then evenly distributing 2A-5A (5A wouldn't be a 32-team class). But take it a step further and go to only four classes -- 2A and 3A would need an extra week of tournament games.

Agreed. Only a true system of promotion/relegation would take the scourge of enrollment-based classification out of the equation.
Can we look at the previous four years, throw out the highest and lowest point totals, then classify with the two remaining totals?

Can anyone confirm or deny that these lists should come out next week?
No.

The IHSAA “claims a monopoly” on broadcast rights in the same way you claim a monopoly on the sale of your home. You are entitled to the “monopoly” because you are the exclusive owner of the product. It’s the IHSAA’s tournament. They take the risk, they’re entitled to a reasonable return on their investment.
The IHSAA's claimed monopoly greatly risks quality of coverage due to its lack of competition. The arrangement works well for broadcasting (generally), but the broadcasting arm could potentially ruin relationships with other media entities -- something to watch as traditional media outlets go by the wayside...

I highly doubt Kentucky needs seven classes. Very similar demographics and population as Indiana...

Not to belittle hoops at Chatard, and hopefully things are improving, but Chatard likely couldn’t have won a 2A sectional during that period.
Bumping hoops at Chatard would actually make me consider DT’s call for contraction…at least for hoops.
How did Cathedral all of a sudden turn into a basketball power? It seems to have happened over night.

Congrats to Lutheran as they were the better team. Proud of our Jets still.
I was walking the Adams Central sideline and everyone just kept saying "Basementbias is soft... He's real soft bro."

Yes, the flag was for defensive pass interference. The back judge did not know the ball was tipped and he threw the flag for early contact. After communication from the official who saw the pass tipped, they waved off the DPI. This was a very well officiated play.
You’re correct. You can still have a personal foul when the pass is touched.
Ahh, I see. I thought the flag was for a PF. Makes sense.

It was not an unsportsmanlike foul. It was a personal foul for targeting, helmet to helmet contact against a defenseless player. By rule, a defenseless player is one “who, because of his physical position and focus of concentration, is especially vulnerable to injury.” The pass receiver here qualifies. The onus is on the player initiating contact with a defenseless player to avoid illegal contact. “Targeting is an act by any player who takes aim and initiates contact against an opponent above the shoulders with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulders.” So, this would have been a foul even if the receiver had caught the ball.
Why the personal foul waved off later in the game after a pass was ruled tipped? Couldn't there still be a personal foul for helmet to helmet contact or targeting after a tipped ball? I thought tipped balls only affect interference.

This is not accurate on Cover 2. In Cover 2 the safeties are in deep coverage splitting the field in half, The corners cover the flats, corners and LB's are playing zone underneath. Cover 5 would be the coverage to have 2 deep safeties covering half the field and the CB's and LB's playing man coverage.
Depends if you're playing Man or Zone under the safeties.

With man you can have safety help over top.
Also known as "Cover 1." Man is basically describing what the non-safeties do... Cover 0 (everyone including safeties are in man), Cover 1 (all but one defender is in man, the safety), Cover 2 (all but two defenders are in man, two safeties), etc...

I’m really curious how Lawrenceburg will choose to play defense. It looks like they like to play man-to-man with some cover zero. BC has 4 kids with 49+ catches and the QB has completed 68% of his passes. Guerin tried to play this way in the playoffs and that score was very lopsided. Has Lawrenceburg faced a team that can throw the ball this well?
I'm sorry, I'm dumb. What's the difference between Cover 0 and man-to-man? I was just a lineman.

So how do we explain 4A?
Public schools Mt Vernon and East Central beat the 2019 and 2020 P/P state champions in the regional/SS rounds en route to winning the 2021 and 2022 titles.
The dirty P/P's didn't cheat hard enough?

Sorry. I didn't mean any offense. I believe I'm banned from the Catholic Church but enjoy my weekly discussions with priests on the sidelines of football games. Good people.
