Logansport applies to Hoosier Conference
Punttheball replied to Bears62's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I don't ever recall NW being in 4A. -
A couple things will need to happen first. I know that two teams have expressed interest in joining the TRC. So not a done deal by any means. If this Northwestern move would happen, it creates a different scenario for Cass. Cass is taking over TV's schedule. That hybrid TRC schedule rotates NM off of it every two years. NM is the only other team currently thinking of accepting an invite to the HNAC. NW could slide into that slot. That would mean that Cass and NW would not be able to play each other for a two year stretch at different times. Cass will be able to have one out of conference game scheduled. It must be game one. This makes it impossible for Cass and NW to continue to play each other every year. Northwestern's non conference game would be week two. Cass will be able to maintain Pioneer as their game one. It just adds a different twist.

I believe its people like you listening to people like you! Cry me a river, poor Frankfort has it rough. I am not sure that is a great argument anymore. Every community has fallen on hard times. Let's take a look at your alma mater, Maconaquah, for instance. Economically that area was on top of the world in the 80's with great athletes. The base was booming, Square D was in full swing, GM and Chrysler were doing well, and farmers were struggling a little. The schools athletics were ok. Nothing super special, but they were always competitive and produced some top athletes. In the 90's the base starts a transition and GM and Chrysler start slowing down. By the 2000's things start getting rough. The base is closing, GM is a shadow of its former self, and Chrysler takes a dip. Square D lays people of and eventually closes by 2019 or so. But somehow a school goes from something like 4% free and reduced lunch to around 70% free and reduced and we don't hear any crying out of them! Cass would be in a very similar situation. There was no industry keeping those communities afloat or breeding new life into the area, and yet they keep chugging along and doing ok in sports. I suppose you can bring up the higher Latino numbers in Frankforts area, but those numbers have risen at Logansport. Yet they are not complaining! Their sports aren't dominating, but they are't lobbying for a move to a 1A conference either. Then again, maybe your right...

With Cass being the newest member of the TRC, the rest of the TRC will hope to provide some resistance on your way to your first conference title in football. The existing teams will fight mightily as we battle to be the best of the rest. As for the Pioneer game, it would look as if it would workout perfectly as Valley played Wawasee game one as their non conference game.

The move makes perfect sense. how many years did Tipton, Western, or Hamilton Heights step up to play West Lafayette as a non conference game? I think the three game stretch of Western, WL, and HH with a possible crossover with a WL had taken its toll on the program. In 2019, Cass beat two out of the three and then turned around to play WL in the crossover. That was followed by Pioneer in the first round of the Sectional. The team won the conference and the sectional, but was absolutely beat up from top to bottom by the time they played Andrean in the regional. That 5 game stretch was brutal.

Yes, Valley has been officially voted out of the TRC. Valley was given three options to choose from. They would not comply with any of the three choices, so the conference elected to dismiss by an 8-0-1 vote. This will be effective for the fall of 2023. As I understand it, Valley will need to fill their Fall 2023 football schedule for a year.

Valley has only been a school dating back to 1975. They have a very good overall record. They won the conference outright in 2021 and tied for it in 2022. From 1998 on it has not been a total domination. Here are the program numbers since they became Consolidated. Year Record 1975 3-2 1976 8-2 1977 12-1 1978 11-1 1979 13-0 1980 8-2 1981 10-1 1982 9-1 1983 10-2 1984 4-6 1985 9-2 1986 9-2 1987 9-1 1988 6-4 1989 4-5 1990 3-6 1991 5-5 1992 6-6 1993 9-2 1994 7-2 1995 6-4 1996 5-4 1997 5-6 1998 4-6 1999 6-5 2000 7-3 2001 8-3 2002 5-6 2003 8-3 2004 7-3 2005 7-4 2006 7-3 2007 8-2 2008 3-7 2009 5-5 2010 5-5 2011 6-4 2012 8-3 2013 5-5 2014 1-9 2015 3-7 2016 3-7 2017 2-8 2018 6-5 2019 7-4 2020 7-4 2021 10-1 2022 9-2 318-181

TRC coaching changes.

Not anytime soon. It was voted down a second time. -
There has been a pretty big shake up in the TRC with Valley leaving. Also, a new coach at Peru. Has there been any announcements for Southwood, Manchester, or Whitko?
