MarshallCounty Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) What is everyones take on the restart of the conference. 1. Knox-Tons of talent with this special group of players mixed with a legendary coach, this is the kind of team they tell stories about down the road. 2. Tippy Valley- Great year last year, was a top 5 3A team last year that had a horrible draw for sectional. The lose a lot of talent, but supspect they will be pretty tough again. 3/4/5/6- Flip a coin with this bunch. I think they are all capable of beating each other. Jimtown has a new coach and see if that can reignite the Jimtown Franchise. LaVille loses tons of talent and expereince but has some ballers coming back. Glenn is the wild card, new coach. Bremen will try and throw it all around with Laidig and Graverson, but do they have the talent and depth to win week to week. I have my doubts, they are treading water as a program, not bad but not anywhere near where they once were. Edited August 8, 2024 by MarshallCounty Quote
FinePrint Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Should be an interesting year for the new conference! I'm excited to see how it goes. I would think Knox is the favorite. I'm really curious about Glenn and what Coach Brown can do with the Falcons. And I'm wondering if LaVille will become the conference punching bag. I think they can compete most years, but we'll see. Offintheyard Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I like this conference a lot. My concern would be how competitive LV and Knox will be over time. I think LV will hold their own most years but Knox may struggle in a few years. It would be nice if they could add 2 more schools but I understand that adding schools that would be a good fit could be a problem. I think this will be a very competitive conference for many years to come. Quote
npcougar15 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I know my Cougars have outgrown the NSC but it is awesome to see the band getting back together with this conference. I'm jealous as all the schools seem to fit culturally and regionally very well together; I always love a conference that just makes sense (The old NIC just didn't make sense). @MarshallCounty predictions seem pretty spot on. Knox by a margin, maybe TV, maybe LV, then everyone else in a dog fight. Should be a fun conference to follow majority of seasons. Now if only you guys can get to 8. Rochester is such an obvious fit but it seems like politics will keep that from happening for the time being. Fairfield, North Judson, Triton, and Culver wouldn't be horrible adds (although NJ is pretty far). I've also heard that Marian has expressed interest but there is some pushback as they would DOMINATE some sports like soccer, volleyball, golf, etc. Selfishly, I wouldn't mind you guys taking Wawasee so that way NP can slide over the NLC. I'm assuming you were referring to Culver Military as Culver Community would hardly ever win any games in any sport vs NSC. Culver Military would be a great addition and had expressed interest as well. I assume they were shot down due to the basketball issues years ago. It's ironic as most of the new NSC schools have been or are on the football schedule and most other sports schedules except boys basketball. Quote
MarshallCounty Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 What I was told, the conference members don't want the private schools. Fairfield and Rochester were asked to join and passed. I think Wawasee would be a good addition. North Judson would be another good school to look at. Bit of a travel for Jimtown but would be close for Knox. 1 Quote
First_Backer_Inside Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Rochester scrimmaged Knox, John Glenn, and Bremen this summer in different 11 on 11's. All three teams are going to be very solid this year. Was very impressed with the improvement of Bremen from last year to this year. Obviously things can change good or bad with putting on the full pads and getting after it but keep an eye on the Bremen Lions. I think they will be more than competitive. John Glenn has some good size and speed on their team. The offense seemed to be running smoothly and effectively considering they just got a new coach not too long ago. And then Knox definitely has the best player in the conference if I had to guess in Mclaughlin. Might even have the second best player in the league in Conroy. They combined for 500 carries last year. A bigger and faster conference this year. Hopefully they can hold up the entire season with that many carries. Its too bad Knox and Valley couldn't have matched up last year would have been a heck of a game. I'm sure this years matchup will be a good one as well. Quote
