Up here in Fort Wayne, the mass migration outside of the donut happened in the 90's. I saw last year in person how much talent that school still has. Anecdotal, but my wife went there 20 years ago, her family is still in the district, and they all say it’s totally different today. Edited September 30, 2025 by PDB26 1 Quote

In 2006 (the farthest back the online DOE data goes), Warren had a 29% FRL rate. So its doubled. Sounds to me like the the qualifications for the free lunch program has gone down in the last twenty years. I can't imagine that the demographic makeup of Warren Central has changed THAT much in twenty years. Regardless, I think Wright would have a state champion within two years with the current landscape at WC. Edited September 30, 2025 by 23andCounting 1 1 Quote

Did that in the 90's, it was bad, didn't seem too wonderful then. I also remember seeing a riot in the stands on their side of the field. Some thugs on our side of the field looking for trouble. You're saying it's worse? Sorry, not buying what you're selling. Sure, maybe the demographics have changed. But the amount of talent in the hallway hasn't. I'm not buying that. Warren Central had enough talent in '23 & '24 to warrant many to tout them as pre-season favorites to win the whole thing. I'm wondering how Wright would have done those years at Warren . Quote

For a family of four the difference in income to qualify for free lunch is about $11,000 from 2003 to today. 11 minutes ago, temptation said: Take a drive from downtown Indy down US-40 east to Cumberland... Mike Kirschner pretty dang good coach as well. 2023 WC team has a season sub .500 record. 2024 a 10-2 record but Center Grove pretty dang good as well that they fell to in the regionals, and the Trojans could not beat Brownsburg. Just don't remember them being favored as the pre-season state champion either year in 6A. Quote

Just don't remember them being favored as the pre-season state champion either year in 6A. There was chatter on this board and multiple Indy media outlets both years. It's why I was surprised that Snider came down to Indy in '23 and beat them so easily. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Wright, nor do I promote any of this going to his head as he reads this. I'm just giving credit where credit is due. I think he's a good coach. He's doing something that other coaches aren't. Just as Cignetti is doing at the college level. "We're going to be the next Indiana." No you're not, there's only one Cignetti, sorry. It's hard not to draw a comparison. Disclaimer: Wright's Noblesville teams in the 90's were sub par, though he did have one really good season. But that just backs up my claim as to how important enrollment is. Quote
