Tod Windlan has been to 12 different schools as a HC alone. I get your comparison though. I know Mike was looking for things to do because he called some basketball on WBDG this year 😂. He'll have his hands full rebuilding Mt. Vernon.

I’m not super familiar with that area, but didn’t MV recently play in the state finals?   Any specific reason/s why such the drop off?

Had a special class, and the talent dropped WAY off afterwards. That was not unexpected - their younger classes were very uncompetitive in junior high/elementary all-star tourneys and those began to matriculate to the high school. When Kirschner was at MV, they got a lot of transfers, those appear to have dried up a bit, too. They'll be back. The community athletic culture at MV is very good, they have a growing community and a good administration.

Yes they did. Coach Lidy took them there in his first year.

Mount Vernon has been a class act in all sports as far as I can remember back. And that's a LONG time.

Lots of good people in Marauderville. They have a very good culture that supports its teams and school.

Mt. Vernon is the site of one of the strangest sports broadcasts of which I've been a part. Back in the days when we'd use an actual landline phone to connect, we were broadcasting a basketball game from Mt. Vernon. During the first quarter and through the first half, we kept having people pick up a receiver somewhere. Schools at this time often maintained a courtesy phone line for broadcasters. Turns out, the courtesy line at Mt. Vernon doubled as the pay phone line. The AD at the time put a big sign on the pay phone line that it was out of order. Don't know why I just thought of that.
