Are you a gimmick? Specifically, are you a schtick whose whole purpose for being on this site is to be a contrarian and challenge the status quo/groupthink, or do you really believe the things you say on here? I’ll hang up and listen. I watched professional wrestling as a child, but quickly lost interest in it. No, I am not a gimmick. Somebody here needs to challenge the status quo/groupthink that tends to permeate forums such as these, or it quickly becomes stale and dies. If that makes me a contrarian then so be it. The late Tim Adams, founder of the GID, recognized this and championed it. 1 Quote

I would argue that if you take it upon yourself to challenge the status quo/groupthink then that makes it a role you play (i.e. a gimmick) and not your natural thoughts. Quote

What inherent advantages would two schools co-opting have to justify such an enrollment multiplier? Well, we will just have to agree to disagree. Quote

Inherent *dis*advantages. The multiplier would reduce their combined enrollment by 25 percent. I think that's fair given the disadvantages like coordination, transportation, logistics, management, etc.. Averaging the two schools' enrollments is too much of an advantage. This meets it in the middle. Quote

Even if you took South Newton and say Tri-County. 2 Struggling 1A schools enrollment and roster size. You would get an enrollment similar to Rensselaer and become 2A. and have 30 kids total if everyone played. From my perspective: NONE Quote

I ask because I like to debate and play the role of devil’s advocate when it comes to politics and religion. Personally, I think too many people can’t handle differing opinions about things, especially those two topics. By playing my “gimmick”, I try to get them to see another side to it while I also strive to understand their views/arguments. It may not change their opinion, or mine, but the goal is to at least get them (and myself) a better understanding of other viewpoints and to realize there are good people that believe other things than you. In summation, I call it a gimmick. You don’t. Potayto, potahto. Quote

It says Rossville....How would you feel if they wanted to start football but they wanted to go 8 man and that was the BEST option for the school?? Would you support that? 43 minutes ago, Muda69 said: Quote

Genuine question, which clearly you have the right to decline to answer, are you a member of the Rossville community? Either as a taxpayer, parent, or other community member? Quote

And I can tell you from discussions with them over the years regarding Hornet athletics that tackle football, at any level, has the proverbial "snowballs chance in hell " of ever becoming reality. I am not, but my point is that, in the hypothetical of Rossville, or any other community, pursuing the idea of a football program should have the opportunity to decide for themselves, under the "marketplace of ideas" theory, to make that decision for themselves without the input of you, me, the man on the moon or anyone else for that matter. I guess ultimately my thought is this: it seems like the battle lines are pretty clearly drawn, so what exactly os there left to discuss? I'm sure the coop proposal will come up again, likely next summer, but in the meantime there's actual football, 11 and 8 man, to discuss. 1 Quote

A concerted effort to bring 11-man tackle football to Rossville as a JV/Varsity sport was made about 10 years ago. Organizers had even spun up a youth team, not affiliated with the school corporation, with the hope that once the school board saw there was sufficient interest they would ultimately approve a proposal. Well, that was shot down by the board and the youth team quietly folded not long afterwards. So the community did have the opportunity to decide for themselves, through their duly elected school board representatives. And their decision was NO. Quote

I was trying to see the thought process....a school with no football to 8 man... but I forgot that...11 man is superior .....8 man is doing big things at schools and it is going to take off. It is here and Co-op is not. Quote
