Agreed but I’m not sure I’d call it trial and error. He just seemed to be a really good fit for Columbus East and Columbus East seemed to be a really good fit for him. I’d compare it to me and my wife. We’d be terrible for anyone else and everyone else would be terrible for us. But it seems to work very well for us being with each other.

I hear ya on that. Married 3 others before I found mine and we’ve stuck with it for 32 years, guess I got a little Gaddis in me.

Still yet to hear your success fella

I'm not making this a measuring contest between me and you. That was not the intent of original comment. i've said my piece.

I didn’t know if you all heard but the Floyd Central AD position is open again. Maybe they’ll hire someone who actually knows something about sports instead of an administrative person this time. I already miss Jeff Cerqueria. I did recommend Impartial Observer for the job but apparently he declined when they refused to offer him a 7 figure salary.

You’re not making this a measuring contest because you know you can’t stack up.

Don’t drag me into your shit. I met the guy last year at the SB regional, and frankly was curious how he landed that gig. Particularly when they took a pass on alumni Joe Witten.
FK there ain’t enough money to get me to wear green.

Yeah I like Joe. I know the Witten family. They passed on a lot of good candidates for that guy. But that was the School Board that hired him. Too much Bulldog pride on the School Board right now.

Not necessarily Football related, but Charlestown HS Principal Bill Eihusen was named the Principal at Floyd Central today. The AD spot is still open. However I have heard some promising news on that end. That should wrap up at the next school board meeting.

It’s Jeff, is now a bad time to remind everyone how they said AJ Moye would fix it?

Is AJ going to coach the Football team and girls basketball team? Lol.

Heard Floyds new AD is a math teacher / middle school football coach coming from River Valley (Jeff feeder school). Last one that lasted a year was a middle school principal from Scribner (New Albany feeder school).

You would think they would have hired someone from a like size school and demographics with experience. Heard 25-27 applied and on 13 got interviews. Who is doing the hiring for them??

The $64,000 question is, would the board be able to control such a person?

I had a gazillion people tell me he’d get it straightened out. You’ll excuse me if I take a wait and see attitude……history says otherwise.

Impartial Observer hit the nail on the head. They need someone they can pull strings with and control. There are some really good coaches at FC that wanted the job. Someone told me that there was a pretty well known former HHC football coach interested. However, the NAFCS school board sucks. They want someone who can also be a school administrator(Assistant Principal.) They don’t really give a shit about Athletics in Floyd County anymore unless it’s New Albany basketball. I hope we keep Coach Bragg for as long as possible because after his era is over, I have serious doubts they’d find a good replacement.

There were some damn good candidates in that pool too. At least 3-4 guys that I know for a fact would be amazing.

In regards to AJ. I know AJ. One of my best friends is close with him and his wife. AJ is one hell of a good guy. He’s a very smart guy. Jeffersonville is just a tough row to hoe.

Don’t know him, don’t have any idea about his personal life, but I know Jeff and its history.

Very understandable. It is a tough job. An incredibly tough job.

39 days until scrimmages.

46 days until week 1 games.

Crazy how quickly time is going. We’ll be back at it in no time.

Yep. I’m excited that football season is almost here. I can hear the whistles and smell the turf already.

My “I know very little about these teams” HHC predictions.

1. Floyd Central. I’m a Homer. Always. But in this case, probably the only pick here. Jackson Stone at QB and their offensive weapons are going to be fun as hell to watch. Defensively, there could be questions.

2. East. I’m going to pick East here because I think they hired a pretty good coach and we know they have footballers in that building.

3. BNL. I like their coach as well and they produce some athletes.

4. New Albany. New coach. Seems credible. They have athletes. People are high on their young talent.

5. Seymour. They had a decent program going but losing coach Moore sucks. They’ll be competitive at times, I’m sure.

6. Jeffersonville. Will continue to be a dumpster fire. They continue to prove that to us.

I’d be shocked if my Highlanders don’t sweep the conference. The real question is, can they beat any of Gibson Southern, Whiteland, or Evansville Memorial? Can they win 2 of 3? Can they actually play a competitive game in a regional? Coach Bragg has done a good job, and they have a respectable program. But can they progress?

It’s hard for me to predict this season because four of the six teams have new coaches. If I recall, I think BNL lost a lot so predicting them is also hard. The only thing I feel pretty confident about is Floyd Central at #1.

Well coach Bragg is certainly the dean of coaches in this conference now. I do think it’s kind of neat to see 4 new HCs. They could all be home run hires. We have no idea? Jeffersonville honestly had the one with the proven track record but he bailed. Papenhaus is a good coach. Silver Creek just doesn’t produce much football talent yet. Campbell was the OC for some pretty bad Ben Davis teams. I’m not saying he’s to blame, but you just never know. Marc Clark was a really good hire for New Albany. He’s been a Kentucky District coach of the year 3 times. He had some pretty solid seasons at Hopkinsville and McCracken County HS.

AI likes Marc Clark.

The overall record doesn’t jump off the page, but it hides a dramatic turnaround.

  • Early years were rebuilding seasons.
  • His teams improved every season.
  • Final two years (2015-16): 20-4.
  • Won District Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
  • Named Western Kentucky Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2016.
  • Produced more than 10 college football signees during his six seasons.
  • Built one of Kentucky’s stronger strength and conditioning programs, with multiple state powerlifting championships.

McCracken County High School (2017-2021)

Overall record: 32-25

During his five seasons:

  • Won four consecutive Class 6A District 1 championships.
  • Made the state playoffs every season.
  • Left the program with a winning record before returning to Hopkinsville in 2022.
