  1. In all seriousness, if everyone really wants to find a way to limit the number of p/p championships, I have a radical suggestion, limit the size of public high schools. Indiana has absurdly large public schools, and there is no good reason for it. This is a small state. The fact we have six classes of football is absurd. Ohio has double our population, but only one high school larger than 3k and only five large than 2500. Indiana has 19 schools larger than 2500. Schools that large cannot serve their population well. Cap public enrollment at 2500 and change football to four classes. Most of the p/p's have 500-1500 in enrollment, so they would almost exclusively end up in 2A and 3A, knocking each other out. Carmel, sorry, your three new high schools will knock each other out in sectionals.
  2. Whoa, whoa, whoa. If there is extra enrollment being thrown around, send some Chatard's way. Building holds 850, and the closer they are to that number, the better the school can fulfill its mission.
  3. Please provide an exact percentage of p/p membership in the IHSAA broken down by class.
  4. Usually he would try to find a turf field to use to practice on. One year was Park Tudor. We did practice a few times for one day of the week at the colts facility. I think there may have been a few other temporary practice homes, but looking back I agree with that call. I think we did a walk through for a regular season game that was being played at the Dome, and it was a huge distraction. Other than the 11 guys on the field, everyone else was caught up in an NFL sideline and locker room. Just about crunch time. Hoping temptation is right.
  5. Not sure if Chatard is still this way, but they used to always decline the practice at the Dome/Can. It always seemed like more of distraction than benefit. That said, of course I can see the location benefit. I'm surprised the Patriots went to such lengths for a practice, but I'm sure they will be ready today.
  6. Zack was actually on the 05 team as a freshmen playing up, too. I'd have to check my sources, but I believe he was in on the last play to win the game.
  7. If we're getting all of this out of the way this week, what will fill the thread next week?
  8. Are there not any Heights fans on here anymore? Used to be a proud bunch of Huskies up there. Seems their either not around or are buying into all the Chatard hype.
  9. The final is set. I thought the broadcast last night said it would be at Chatard, but John Harrell is showing us back up in Hamilton County. Any thoughts about the actual game besides the obligatory call for a running clock? I assume the sprinklers will be on all week and the grass hasn't been cut for a month.
  10. Congrats on a great season to Guerin. Its a shame that game had to be in the second round, because they definitely deserved to play much later. That was a classic catholic school football matchup and everything that was expected. Hopefully going into next week Chatard isn't listening to the likes of this forum and buying into the hype. Everyone can keep calling for Chatard to have a blowout each week, but these are 15-18 year old kids. Look at those 15 state title runs, and that is rarely the case. There is a reason they play the game each Friday, and Chatard better come prepared next week. Guerin has a quality program and will be right back in the mix of things next year.
  11. If Chatard does go all the way, this is going to be a long tournament.
  12. One game into sectionals feels a little early to start fielding the voluntary move up shots.
  13. Lots of talk about how lopsided this one will be. I hear that Chatard is healthier, but there is more than health that goes into these games. Coach Dilly has a lot of experience in big games, and they will be able to correct from mistakes they made in the first game. Guerin has not beat Chatard in awhile, and that is often a dangerous recipe. See BRipp 01, Arlington 07, Ritter 12, Brebeuf 13, New Pal 13, and most importantly Heritage Hills in 04. Those were all times that Chatard was riding a long winning streak into a big game and those teams came out with good game plans and were tired of getting beat.
  14. Chatard and Cathedral played in 82, 87, 90, and 92 in the sectionals, but I was referring to the three schools, Chatard, Roncalli, and Cathedral, and how nearly every year there was a rematch between two of them in the sectional.
  15. Unless we're looking for this thread to go down the road of comparing our feelings about our rings, (I'm pretty fond of mine btw) what makes the outcome of Chatard and Guerin different this time around? Chatard may be healthier, but beating a rival multiple times in a year is very, very tough. For those of you who have forgotten, when Chatard, Roncalli, and Cathedral shared a sectional, the regular season victor rarely repeated in the playoffs.
  16. That "little brother" talk might be part of why this series went from 17-13 in Chatard's favor in 2004 to 20-29 in Cathedral's favor today.
  17. Congrats to the Trojans! I only saw the first half, but I wouldn't be too worried about the rankings. Cathedral is legit and I'm sure they can still go deep in 6A. A tough loss like this early in the season can often reset a team to make a big push. See Chatard in 06, 07, 10, 11, 12, 19, and 20.
  18. If the money can be put together to build an off-site soccer/lacrosse stadium, can't it be found for a better solution for the football team? If Tech is at UofI, why couldn't the same arrangement be made with them that they have with Arlington?
  19. Power went out? I was there and there was power. Half the lights wouldn't come on. It wasn't a utilities issue; it was a facilities issue. That was my first time back at Arlington since losing in 2007. Many fond memories there from the 90's and early 2000's, but boy has that facility gotten rough. I'm sure the grass is great. I was shocked at the condition of everything else. The school building itself looks like all the renovation money spent before it was shut down was well spent, but from peeling paint covering the home stands to cracked up concrete to half functioning restrooms, the prison yard comment wasn't far off. Also, I never understood the gripes on here about parking at Arlington until being back last night. With the new addition to the front of the school and half the facility being used to store broken down IPS vehicles, they don't do Cathedral any favors. I'm sure this has been brought up and I've missed it elsewhere, but why does Cathedral stick with Arlington? Tech seemed like a great solution. Both Lawrence schools are close. Maybe this is sacrilegious to suggest, but why not use Chatard's facility when they are on the road? No matter the on field record in the rivalry, both schools are better off when the relationship is in good standing.
  20. Always enjoy almost 20 years on seeing the same debates coming back over and over.
  21. Looking through this site, I don't see any IN schools with 76% winning percentage. I'm having vague recollections of a thread from years ago, so I just checked Heritage Hills. I've got them at 76.1%, beating Chatard by one hundredth. Anyone know of any better all time winning percentages?
  22. Appreciate that. Harrell's site is interesting for comparing one to one since 84, but we're looking more at a ranking of all programs, especially for all time.
