Temp's 2A Bracket Analysis
Wildcat1992 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Agreed, MD and Linton played in the sectional semis last year, now won't meet until SS (assuming both make it that far). MD played scecina in SS last year and could play them in the regional this year. Makes no sense to me. -
I think you will see a running clock in every one of these games
-
It was a heckuva game against LS last year. MD has decent speed, but not great. Just like most years. There is a lot of speed in the SIAC this year, so the speed of LS will not surprise them.

The game changed when Reitz put Vera at QB. Their offense was very quiet the first quarter. Once they pulled Davies, Vera broke off a long TD run to get Reitz on the board. Their passing offense looked very simple with Vera at QB. Throw it long to Thomas and hope he makes a play. Which he did and that led to their second score. They need their passing game going if they want to make a run in the playoffs. MD's offense was held in check all game. there were some missed throws and receivers not getting much separation. Some bad penalties (especially the personal foul when they were at the Reitz 20 late in the game) and some miscues (INT and bad snap that resulted in a huge loss. They need to clean that up before regionals or Triton/Scecina will win that game. Good news is that the sectional isn't that strong so they should have 3 weeks to get things cleaned up.

The DL isn't as good as last year without Boots and Ralph, but everywhere else on the defense I think we are very solid. On offense we don't have that explosive receiver like we had with Eli McDurmon, but the receivers are generally sure handed. They rotate in 5-6 WR and they are all pretty interchangeable. Isaac Goebel played on Friday for the first time since the VL game, Cody Wells should return to C/DL in time for sectionals. Pierre looked fine in his return to the lineup on Friday, didn't get a ton of carries, but looked fine. Luke McDurmon should be back soon too. They are getting healthy at the right time of the year. We shouldn't be challenged much in the sectional, but I expect a good, tight game with Triton Central/Scecina in the regional. Linton may have a cake walk to the SS.

My "Oh MY" teams so far this year
Wildcat1992 replied to Tippy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Evansville Central. They had a couple of key contributors leave the program, but for a team that was in the 4A finals not that long ago the drop off has been huge. they have only managed to score 26 points all season and will finish 0-9. -
Seems like we've been hearing about North turning the corner for 5-7 years now and it hasn't happened. They were clearly bigger than MD in the trenches on Friday night and weren't able to get much going at all on offense. their passing game was not impressive and their rushing attack didn't generate much at all. Their only score occurred as time expired at the end of the game with their starters still in vs MD's back ups. I wonder how long of a leash this coach will have to turn them into a consistent winner

MD typically fills the visitors bleachers when they are the home team against Reitz. I've sat in the both ends of the bowl as well. Doesn't seem to by any animosity among the MD fans about sitting on the visitors side.

12 wrestling titles to go along with his one football title.

I don't know if struggled is the right word for the game last year. It was a 31-6 victory. I think it was 17-6 after three and we put it away in the 4th. I think we'll see a similar result friday night.
-
I'll be shocked if MD doesn't win in a blow out.
-
Looked like a couple of forced throws into tight windows and a couple of really bad reads
-
Reitz also threw 5 ints

Push for neutral sites

We traveled to Triton Central, Scenina and Indy in consecutive weeks (regional and SS were Friday night games) and we had huge crowds. -
Based on the 2 scrimmages, it will be Stolz, McDurmon, Martin, and Goebel
-
Not sure if he will be a starter right away. He's got to learn the position, but being a good athlete will help the transition.
-
Herdes would be at least the 3rd. Rode to Memorial, and the other QB to Reitz.
-
That remains to be seen. I have no clue who is actually recruiting him, but I see him more at a small school. Somewhere like Marian or Wabash.

Wunderlich is going into his senior year. I know he went to Wisconsin to visit last season, but I haven't heard anything about it since. I'm not sure how much interest there really is. FWIW, I don't see him as a Big 10 QB. I don't think he's athletic enough to play at that level. He does have a good, strong arm. He's certainly not at the level Brady Allen was heading into his senior year.
-
Not sure how much stock you can put in these rankings. They have Herdes as the 8th QB in the class of '23, yet he completed only 41% of his throws, 1 TD and 8 Ints, and a QB rating of 32 (stats courtesy of MaxPreps). And he was replaced in the line up by a Freshman last season.

I think it is opinion based on their measurables. Very few, if any of these guys will go D1

Been hearing about this green wave that is supposed to be coming for a few years now and it hasn't materialized.
