    It's an interesting question. How many members of Mississinewa's football program actually live within the Marion government school geographic boundary? The two high schools are only a little over 5 miles apart.

    Socioeconomics rear their ugly head again. Can Mr. Wright build a state championship caliber football program at a school the size of Carmel but has a 90%+ of it's students on free/reduced lunches?

    I'm not even sure how relevant that is at times. Again, look at Frankfort. A "4A" school where all their losses this season have come at the hands of 1A, 2A, & 3A schools. Since 2020 the only other 4A school they played in the regular season was Lebanon, and that was due to them being a conference foe. That enrollment advantage isn't worth squat.

    The signs in Burlington celebrating Carroll's 1995 state title were up for at least 20 years. Not sure if they are there currently, I drive enough thru that small town I don't pay much attention anymore.

    Sad that a college kid feels he has to apologize to gamblers for winning a football game. Kind of indicative of the sick spiral that is "big time" college football. Give me a brisk fall afternoon and a college football game at places like Crawfordsville, Greencastle, Franklin, Hanover, etc. I'll take that over Ross-Ade, "The Big House", even Notre Dame stadium practically every single time.

    With the defense Rochester has to be the favorite to win the TRC title this year. The Zebra's D even got a brief mention in the Indianapolis Star this past weekend.

    Yes. The socio in socioeconomic. And on the economic sides of things you have many families where the student has to work a part time job to help put food on their table and a house over their head. A luxury pastime like tackle football just isn't in the cards anymore.

    By my count there are 36 teams out there currently at 0-5. That's a little over 10% of the IHSAA football playing schools.
