It's the "Conference of Champions". At least that is the high-faluting label it was given back in my football-playing days. I think at the time every member of the NCC had won at least one state basketball title. But in this new era of conference-hopping it will probably break apart soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the heart and soul of the NCC, Kokomo, jumps ship to the "new" Sagamore conference. After that it's just a house of cards................

Thank you for the correction. I had forgotten about that. Too many conference moves going on lately. -

No, they'll just get muddy since the game is at Frankfort. The have no chance against Western Boone. At least the WEBO team manager may actually have some work do to, washing muddy uniforms. -

Four yards and splashing mud, on real football fields, will win the day. -

BC would be too far away and too small for the "new" Sagamore conference. Danville, Lebanon, and Tri-West would eat them alive. If they join the new Monon Athletic Conference it's an hour and forty minute drive between Cascade H.S. to BC. About the same between Greencastle and BC. -
Rand Paul's Plans To Balance the Budget Are a Useful Illustration of Congress' Addiction To Borrowing: https://reason.com/2024/09/25/rand-pauls-plans-to-balance-the-budget-are-a-useful-illustration-of-congress-addiction-to-borrowing/?itm_source=parsely-api This uncontrolled borrowing and spending is going to create a nightmare for our children and grandchildren. Who here wants that?

Not surprised. Crony capitalism thrives in places like Chicago.

Good. Such a stadium needs to be 100% privately financed.

https://mises.org/mises-wire/comic-absurdity-us-sovereign-wealth-fund Agreed. This is nothing but a hopeful smokescreen designed to hide the federal debt issues from the people. Don't fall for it!

A Reminder Of What Will Happen When The Filibuster Is Gone: https://reason.com/volokh/2024/09/24/a-reminder-of-what-will-happens-when-the-filibuster-is-gone/ Senate Majority Leader Schumer likewise said eliminating the filibuster is "something our caucus will discuss in the next session of Congress." Translation: Democrats will nuke the filibuster if they win the White House and have majorities in both houses. I agree with the Wall Street Journal that once the filibuster is eliminated for abortion, it will be eliminated for all other legislation. This wishlist is not fanciful. Jeff Toobin offered a similar roadmap in 2020. Once D.C. has statehood, it will become far more difficult for Republicans to obtain a majority in the Senate, and nearly impossible to confirm Republican-nominated judges. And once the lower courts and Supreme Court are packed, there will be no judicial check on whatever a simple majority of Democrats can muster. Within a span of a two years, our country would become nearly unrecognizable. If you think this sort of rapid change is impossible, look at what just happened in Mexico. This blog is hosted by a non-profit, so I will resist making any sort of political endorsement. Instead, I would urge people who are generally right-of-center to think very carefully about which candidate actually poses the bigger threat to that which they care the most about. I know of several never-Trumpers who today became reluctant-Trumpers. You are not alone. -

One of the best high school mascot names ever. I hope it is immortalized/recognized somewhere within the South Gibson Government School Corporation. -
Ahh NIL, we love you so: https://apnews.com/article/unlv-sluka-59449174adffe0940266427158d964d3 Translation: "Show me the money or I walk." I also came across this gem from last season, where a number of MSU players considered not suiting up against Iowa while the team was the hotel, due to NIL: https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/nil-story-bloomberg IOW competing on NIL means you have to (a) compete with other programs making stuff up and (b) write the contract in a way that the player can't find a loophole (or conversely compete with programs that don't bother to close their own loopholes). There's no standard for these contracts, so pretty much anything goes. The article touches on the fact that the NIL deals are with a third party, not the university, and even if the contracts are ironclad, if the collective goes bust, then the player is out of luck. This is the kind of the thing the NCAA should fix, but they're so FUBAR that LOL no. Not particularly shocking, but the details presented here are eye-opening. And it appears the Bloomberg article mentioned is behind a paywall. Bummer, sounded like an interesting read.
