  1. The Millers better move away from that antiquated T-formation to the spread so they can score some points. A 55-54 win is better than a 18-22 loss, right? Forget about defense, it's so overrated in today's IHSAA football.
  2. Approximately 60 miles between Shelbyville and Tri-West (Lizton). That drive is going to suck.
  3. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/10/16/indiana-high-school-eight-man-football-a-numbers-game-waldron-ihsaa-ifca-8-man-football/75584400007/ Nice story. Does 8-man football truly have a future in Indiana?
  4. Ohh, are we talking about the old Mid-Indiana Conference rising from the dead? When I was growing up in Miami County the MIC was: Maconaquah Lewis Cass Northwestern Taylor Western Eastbrook https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-Indiana_Conference
  5. Thank you. So I guess with some kind of FRL adjustment the Hot Dogs would probably be playing in 1A. Neat.
  6. Hmm, according to this the entire Community Schools of Frankfort only has 12 students who actually pay full price for their meals, unless I'm reading it incorrectly:
  7. Frankfort High School: https://indianagps.doe.in.gov/Summary/School/3435 74.2% Free/Reduced Lunch Rate Football season history: https://indianahsfootball.homestead.com/logs/Frankfort.htm#load A correlation?
  8. Agreed. On the sunny side of things this is good news for the Bears. 🙂
  9. Go Braves. Maconaquah 35, Rochester 21. As an alumni really thinking about making the drive on Friday night for this one.
  10. So you have a "4A" school, in terms of total enrollment, that is in reality more of a "2A" sized in regards to athletic participation. This can be traced to various socioeconomic factors where these students will almost never choose to participate in government school extracurricular athletics programs because bluntly, they have to work a part time job to either feed themselves or help keep a roof over their family's head. Extracurricular sports are simply not a priority in their life, or their family's life. Or, in the specific sport of American tackle football their may be societal norms where families are just not "fans" of the sport, and instead push their children into other sports like soccer, baseball, wrestling, etc. One question I would pose to the GID cognoscenti is what do you believe is the average varsity roster size for each enrollment classification, 1A to 6A? Does roster size, and also to some extant the number of athletes you have playing both ways (offense & defense) play a role in the success, or lack thereof, on Friday night against other schools in the same enrollment classification?
  11. Mr. Beckwith continues to be a thorn in Mr. Braun's side during this campaign. I can't wait to see what havok he causes should Braun/Beckwith win the election. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/15/beckwith-says-pronoun-use-in-emails-could-lead-to-firing-braun-weighs-in/75673502007/
  12. Not football. More like a video game.

  15. https://reason.com/2024/10/09/universal-basic-income-shows-why-giving-people-free-money-doesnt-work/?itm_source=parsely-api Agreed. The only possible way UBI could work is like explained above, getting rid of most of the current government safety net programs and replacing them with UBI. Adding UBI to already existing programs is a recipe for disaster, one more disincentive for people to work and to rely more and more on the government for their wellbeing.
  16. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/deadspin-loses-bid-toss-defamation-suit-article-accusing-114605230 I stopped reading Deadspin over a year ago, but Carron Phillips was indeed a race-baiting and click-baiting POC. I hope he gets his just desserts.
