  1. Good game, next to Center Grove this was clearly the toughest team we played all year. Question - I noticed in program Zionsville has enrollment of 2,239. I am curious what the enrollment tier is to move up to 6A? I noticed Westfield has 2,500 and CG 2,700. It is probably a moot point as I understand Zionsville will be in 6A next year regardless due to SF.
  2. The system will work itself out...next two years in 6A if we fail to maintain that class level then we go back down to 5A. I agree and you are correct our roster size is as big or bigger than 6A schools. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the freshman team had close to 50 players this year. There will be some attrition of course as that morphs into JV like at any other school.
  3. According to Kyle's story in Indy Star today, Cathedral will be in 6A next two seasons. Regardless if they win or lose on Friday. Portion of the story is below. Love the comment about Dec game 🐵 Rematches in state finals It sort of seemed inevitable all season, did it not? Rematches in Class 6A (Center Grove vs. Westfield) and 5A (Cathedral vs. Zionsville) in the state finals. I would expect a closer game than Center Grove’s 38-14 win over Westfield last year. Zionsville did hang with Cathedral, sort of, last year in a 46-28 Irish win. If Center Grove and Cathedral both win, can we set up a rematch on Dec. 3? At Arlington, for all the marbles. Here’s something interesting to remember, too: Cathedral will be moving up to Class 6A for the next two years via the tournament success factor. Call Star reporter Kyle Neddenriep at (317) 444-6649.
  4. I sure as hell hope so, no offense to any other schools in 5A....but the Irish in 5A has run its course. We have larger home crowds during regular season games vs. 6A opponents than we do in 5A playoffs which speaks volumes to how other fans/alumni feel about it!
  5. One stat jumps out to me Irish had 2 penalties for 15 yards. I THINK this is a three-year game low? Way to go Carson Johnson, so proud of that kid.
  6. While Zionsville offense is better than last year, it is a proven fact (look at stats this year) Cathedrals defense is ridiculously better than last year. We just are not giving up many points with the exception when the second and third units are on the field in the second half (most notable in playoffs thus far). Irish 24 Zionsville 10
  7. This is really cool, thanks for posting!
  8. One thing I noticed was after Gomez hit a field goal to start third quarter the Irish really started to play conservatively to keep the clock running.
  9. This game was very similar to last week's game with Decatur Central. Very physical, and our smothering defense frustrated and completely wore down their offense which made the game chippy late in the second half. Too many penalties (85 yards this game?), but I suppose that is part of our DNA and I never see that changing anytime soon.
  10. This game will be held at Tech, such a great historic venue under the lights! I don't know a lot about New Albany yet, except they pulled off what many consider an upset win vs. Bloomington South last night. Will make predictions later.
  11. No kidding! Cathedral coach made a mistake, I am sure they learned from it in a meaningless JV game. I am long time Cathedral fan and I am at peace with the deal. Move on. Windy tonight, should make passing game interesting both sides with +30mph winds. Tailgating will start by 4PM. Come early as PARKING SUCKS at Tech,
  12. I think that it would be ridiculously stupid of Cathedral coaches to try to do such a thing intentionally, as the consequences are too severe (isn’t it automatic forfeit for illegal roster use???). If that did or were to happen it would absolutely have to be an oversight…even for a meaningless JV or freshman game
  13. I agree, it was smart play by CG and we would have done the same if the roles were reversed.
  14. That is correct, and in one of the messages above there is a link which confirms that (i.e. Cathedral stays in 5A 2021-2022 seasons, and next fall will be 2022 season).
  15. If we plow through remainder of playoffs with sizeable win margin I will be very disappointed if Cathedral brass does not lobby/petition IHSSA to move to 6A in fall 2022.
  16. Is Haubs Steakhouse still around?
  17. Here we go, outlined in red.
  18. I will post a parking map later....in regards to New Pal fans coming (and reminder to Irish fans), parking is awful awful awful at Tech. I recall a lot of the parking lots outside of Tech campus (businesses, etc) are typically locked during regular games but given this will be a huge crowd I assume our athletic dept. will make note of that to see what arrangements can be made to keep those open.
  19. The game will be played at Tech. Irish 42 New Pal 7
  20. Great game, I thought DC was very good and extremely well coached. Our defense totally shut down their passing game very early, and Irish turned it on the second half in a big way. O-Line was awesome, at least in second half their best performance of season easily. Javon Tracy is an absolute stud. Never leaving the field the entire game is something you don't see too often. The hit DannyO took was one of the most brutal and strident sacks I have seen in quite some time on anyone. Glad he is okay, for a couple of minutes I wasn't sure that he would be. Can't wait for New Pal!
  21. I can tell you without hesitation most if not all Cathedral fans and players want to get back in 6A as quickly as possible, but they can only do what IHSAA rules say they can do. What sucks is I think we are still stuck in 5A next year due to Covid measures which extended the current SSF one more year.
  22. That is a great video! Should be a great night of football with two really good teams. Expect a PACKED house w/lots of Irish fans!
