  1. Interestingly, Paul Neidig recused himself from Porter’s case because he has known Porter’s stepmother a long time. She used to babysit his kids. But I don’t think it made any difference.
  2. Yeah, if SIAC coaches have a bias against Memorial, it certainly doesn’t show up in the selections. So I’m just not buying that. I do think it’s probably safe to assume that he didn’t get any support from Zirkelbach - who is a Memorial grad. I don’t know what led to him being left off. I just think he got snubbed…happens to kids every year, really. Probably some kids from other schools who also deserved to be recognized.
  3. Pierre - 13 games, 1015 yds, 5.4 ypc, 78.1 ypg, 12 TD Johnson - 10 games, 751 yds, 6.2 ypc, 75.1 ypg, 4 TD Rode - 11 games, 1123 yds, 6.2 ypc, 102.1 ypg, 13 TDs
  4. I’m a bit of a homer, and I realize he missed 2 games. But I think Porter Rode got screwed by not being 2nd team.
  5. And won 3 sectionals, 2 regionals, and a state championship.
  6. That EC team would’ve beaten Castle and MD by…a lot. No shame in losing to them. They’re a fantastic team. Their defense was spectacular. Memorial actually scored more against them every team they played except for Cincinnati Moeller.
  7. That would be an improvement. But why not the POY, too? I mean, they already have a lot of all-PAC players because of the two divisions. That’s understandable, because it has a lot of teams. But separating those awards adds 6 extra players across the two divisions. I don’t see that as a positive at all. I see it as dilution of what should be a big honor. Anyway, not my team’s conference. I just find that odd. Do a lot of conferences do their honors that way?
  8. OK, 6 out of 12. I miscounted. But, still, half of the league’s QBs are all-conference? Why not just have a 1st and 2nd team…and then have the POY be the one of the players on the 1st team? Doing it this way devalues the honor, IMO.
  9. It seems kind of strange to me that the PAC MVP, offensive captain, and defensive captain are recognized separately from their positions. Altogether between both divisions, I count 6 all-conference QBs out of 11 teams. That has kind of an “everybody gets a trophy” feel to it.
  10. I don’t think they practiced or prepared as much for Boonville as they normally would. Call it a hunch.
  11. Maybe Reitz should’ve prepared more for Boonville than they supposedly did.
  12. I’ll kick in some more and encourage everybody to do the same. Bills gotta be paid - and where else can you discuss Indiana HS football like this?
  13. What is there to update, really? I can’t fathom they would ever replay a game simply because the officials screwed up. Imagine the can of worms that would open. There are always bad calls in sports. Even ones that are supported by video evidence. The IHSAA may have some words with this crew. They may lose their playoff assignments. But replay a game? That’s preposterous. Also, who else had to be asleep at the wheel for a team to get away with having 12 players for 3 consecutive snaps? Doesn’t CP have somebody assigned to count?
  14. Matthew Fisher will not be playing against Bosse tomorrow.
  15. I have my doubts we’ll be seeing any of those 3 play going forward - at least Weinzapfel or Collins. They were only dressed to take part in the Senior night ceremony. Seward I’m less sure about. But I guess time will tell.
  16. Man, Andy Zirkelbach has coached 58 games and won just 5. That’s gotta be rough.
  17. Is it an option for them to play on Saturday?
  18. They have a number of playmakers on both sides of the ball. Especially QB Hunt, who is a very athletic dual-threat. But they mix it up offensively and have several very able RBs and WRs. In our game they just had a cascade of costly 2H mistakes after a controversial goal line play where Hunt reached for (and hit) the pylon but was called out of bounds. That play took a lot of wind out of their sails.
  19. You think Bosse will let us use Hudl? 🙄
  20. I don’t know much about Boonville this year. But the Sectional Final ought to be Reitz v Jasper/Memorial.
  21. The two pieces of info we can glean from those pictures are that (a) Hunt did go airborne, and (b) the ball hit the pylon from the inside. But we don’t know whether or not his foot touched the sideline or if the ball crossed the sideline plane before doing so. If it did, it was down at that point.
  22. Thank you for the explanation, Bob. I knew I could count on you! I never knew that the runner being grounded or airborne makes such a critical difference.
  23. Complaining about the refs: “That crew was terrible. Every time we play Memorial it’s….Mr. Hurley.” That’s pretty low-rent there, Coach. I’m surprised he said that publicly.
  24. It looks like a TD to me. But maybe they said his foot touched the sideline before he reached for the pylon? You can’t see from that video if he did or not. But I guess it’s possible. Does it matter if the ball crosses over the sideline in the air before crossing the goal line plane? Good question for @Bobref
  25. Well, Bret Szabo only lasted 5 seasons (2013-17). Before him, Mike Wilson was there over 20 years. Wilson had some years of success (especially during the Deke Cooper era). But he was around .500 over his career. But part of the underlying dynamic here is that North HS moved around 2011 or so. The school has seen demographic changes and such.
