Temp’s Preseason Top 50
scarab527 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
In the case of Warren specifically, there’s a big difference between serviceable varsity players and guys that will go on to play high level D1 football. You really expect Kirschner to turn those guys away or not jump at the opportunity to bring them in? C’mon man, don’t be naive. Coaches down in Indy aren’t getting paid 100K+ (as it’s been reported here before) to appease guys on the internet and live up to their cheesy movie notions of high school sports. They’re paid first and foremost to win football games. Know some people on here might not like to hear that, but that’s the truth. “You can’t win a race if you’re not driving a Ferrari” as they say. -

And all the coaching in the world won’t make certain kids varsity players. -

Go back through the comments, “win with the kids you have” sure seems to imply that. Seems like a whole lot of pearl clutching going on in that comment Temp…but to each their own. -

Much more experience than you think I do. Giving a kid a starting spot when their ability does not warrant it just cause he’s “waited his turn” is a participation trophy. And I thought we were all against those? Apparently I was wrong on that. -

Don’t bring logic into this… this is about pearl clutching and grown men’s feelings getting hurt about high school kids transferring -

Such is the way of the world. Best to embrace it rather than to deny it. Soft mentality from you here tbh. -

Generally speaking, if you’re not good enough at your job, your company will find someone else who is and replace you with them. Teaching kids that it doesn’t matter how good they are as long as they “wait their turn” is just setting them up for future failures and disappointments. It’s a dog eat dog world boys, get used to it. Better that kids learn it as kids as opposed to as adults. -

Part of the reason Clacks left was because of the coaching during that game…lol. Strep throat or not they should have fed the ball to him more, he’d say the same. Ballentine did look bad in garbage time coming back, but then why go to him halfway through the biggest game of the year. Because they panicked and didn’t know what to do. If you don’t trust Henry, why are you giving him the option to throw with an rpo backed up in your own red zone with a minute left in the half? The current coaching staff has had a mound of excuses made for them every time they’ve lost in the postseason. It was a bad loss and overall a pretty embarrassing display, we don’t have to baby them. -

I’d buy the backup QB excuse if the kid hadn’t started basically the whole year outside of the first drive of the first game. Bowen did drag that team single-handedly to state, but if you know he’s banged up, don’t make the entire offensive game plan revolve around handing him the ball every play. Ballantine had been back a couple weeks if I recall correctly, if they really weren’t that confident in Henry they should’ve used that time to get Ballentine back in there as opposed to panicking and putting him in the second half of the state game when he had only played a couple of snaps in garbage time since he had been back. Yes Mater Dei was good, but I don’t know how one can say that was a well played and prepared for game by the Niners as a team and staff. -

There’s definitely a history of some pretty bad postseason performances in big games. 2022 State championship against Mater Dei and 2020 Regional against Pioneer come to mind recently. A lot more if you wanna go back through the Mason era. -

Currently on the Region Sports board he's on one thread posing as three different people having conversations with himself. -
Was unaware. But you're questioning my integrity when you yourself are completely biased in the situation, which is frankly wildly hypocritical, and that hypocrisy should be exposed. If you had any integrity you would've stated this 'full disclosure' for all to see, instead of trying to act like what I'm saying isn't 100% true.

Alt is probably gone by 9 but would be nice, even if Jones and Wright are solid. I think Odunze would be great as imo he would fit nicely with their current group of receivers as a big-bodied possession type. I also still think DE should be on the table as they need someone to pair with Sweat. Trading down shouldn't be out of the question either if their top guys are already off the board, pairing Bowers with Kmet in that scenario would be interesting. The good thing is they've got many different options and routes to go with that pick.

McCarthy strikes me more like the guy a GM drafts and gets fired over a couple years later. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. Game manager at best imo, and there's nothing wrong with that, but Cam Newton was right when he said teams are looking to draft the next Lamar, Allen or Mahomes, not the next Tua, Dak, or Goff.

That's rich. "The things you have directly been told by coaches on multiple different coaching staffs didn't happen". It's ok Bob, I know it's very difficult for you to accept, but you're not always right about things.

Well, seeing as other coaches around the area agree with me, it must not be 'totally' inaccurate.
