As I’ve said before, the IHSAA knows the only way to justify the all-in is to have the random draw. Any seeding, or even putting the top 2 teams on opposites of the bracket, will eventually have people calling for a qualifier once enough complete blowouts happen in Round 1.

I wasn’t impressed with Getsy myself, but the question that needs to be raised is how much he was handicapped in his play calling by Fields’ shortcomings as a passer.

The whole Fields discourse has really brought out the fact that most people watching do not actually know anything about football. He ran the same offense for two years in a row and did not improve even slightly (in the QB-friendly Shanahan system, I might add). The OL discourse is mute because sacks are mostly a QB stat (something most people just can’t seem to wrap their head around), driven home even more so by the fact that Bagent had about half the sack rate in 5 games playing behind the exact same OL. Pretty telling that Nagy and Getsy also both got jobs immediately after they left. All advanced passing stats say that he was a bottom 5 QB in the NFL this year.

I wish the kid the best, but don’t hold your breath on this…

Seeding is the first step in the removal of the all-in. A couple years of complete first round blowouts where one team has to travel 1 hour+ will have people ready for a qualifier. The all-in only makes sense with the random draw.

I obviously have no inside info but I'd think that there's gotta be young coaches lining up out the door to take their crack at getting this job. Openings at legitimate blue bloods don't come along every day. I think if Penn takes their time and does their homework, they should be able to land a great coach who can bring them back to the standards they expect.

Marshall’s been a Valpo guy since he went to VU 20+ years ago. I’d be shocked to see him move but stranger things have happened.

I wanted just as much as anyone else for the kid to be good. But after a couple seasons, it’s obvious he’s not the answer. He doesn’t have the mental map a legit NFL QB needs. He needs to see guys wide open, and can’t actually throw them open. He could get away with that in college throwing to a bunch of 5 stars who were running routes against overmatched DBs. In the NFL, not so much. Most of his big runs are because he held the ball way too long in the first place. He’s a good kid and he’s obviously highly respected by his teammates, but those intangibles don’t win football games.

Fields is awful. Just because he bails out his terrible reads and complete lack of anticipation with this athleticism doesn’t make him good. They’re taking Williams and if any team really wants to give them a 2nd rounder for Fields you jump on that before they can even hang up the phone.

6A seems pretty straightforward, assuming the IHSAA sticks with their usual method of slotting new teams into where old teams were: 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Portage, Harrison (slots in for Jeff) 2: Penn, Elkhart, Carroll, Snider (slots in for Warsaw) 3: Northrop, Homestead, Fishers, HSE 4: Carmel, Westfield, Zionsville, Noblesville 5: BD, Brownsburg, Pike, Avon 6: Cathedral, Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, North Central 7: Warren, Perry Meridian, Southport, Tech 8: CG, Columbus North, Jeffersonville, Franklin Central

This looks like the easiest way to do the North. Throw FW North in with the NCC teams just to keep it clean. Things would get weird if they didn't go with something like this. Down South could go any number of ways but I think what you have here is probably the best way to do it.

Well yes, his job is quite literally to win football games, not protect his own hurt ego. Thankfully Andy Reid is not insecure. The Chiefs didn't lose though. They won, a large part of that owing to the fact Kelce got going in the second half and wasn't benched because he hurt his coach's feelings. And now the only conversation that matters is that the Chiefs are a dynasty and Andy Reid is one of the greatest coaches of all time. The only thing the Kelce outburst mattered for was the memes its spawned. Benching him would have turned this into a bigger deal than it even was.

Well there's a reason Andy Reid has won 3 Super Bowls and everyone here hasn't lol. This is an emotional game played by emotional men. He'd be insane to bench one of the best players on the team because he hurt his feelings. KC doesn't come back in the second half if Reid was as mentally weak as some here.

I’ve said this before, if you’re going to do seeding, just get rid of the all-in then as well and go to a qualifier.

Congratulations to Coach Yeoman on a great career leading the Kingsmen. Will be interesting to see what happens here. While they've fallen off a bit in recent years, Penn still has to be considered one of the premier coaching jobs in the state.

Not sure how this checks out when Cathedral, Roncalli, and Dwenger are some of the most successful programs in the state at these levels.
